Protip: You don't make good money by working hard. You can easily put yourself in the right place, and if luck doesn't strike there are endless of other methods you can use to make easy money.
Name one that is legal.
It will happen. We'll have our lasers and lying cars. Why? Because society and cultural views of the future that stick are our goals- we aim to make the things we think up. If it's at all possible, no matter how expensive, it will happen.
""Car, tell my wife I didn't cheat." "Your husband never cheated, and especially not with robots or cars."
Name one that is legal.
Stocks, currency exchange, opening a business, dropshipping, etc. Clearly you have no idea what you're doing in life.
No, your future was "then". Now is "then" or "present".

no, the present is now, are you dense
You people have no idea what an analogy is, do you?
Stocks, currency exchange, opening a business, dropshipping, etc. Clearly you have no idea what you're doing in life.
Homeless people don't have the money to do any of that.
Homeless people don't have the money to do any of that.
Fuck I lol'd, that was a good laugh, thanks man. (People don't start out as homeless)
i think stories of homeless bums becoming CEOs of multibillion $$ corporations are few and far between
(People don't start out as homeless)
What the fuck are you talking about. People get born in homeless conditions all the time. [editline]06:32PM[/editline]
i think stories of homeless bums becoming CEOs of multibillion $$ corporations are few and far between
Avatar of the year.
What the fuck are you talking about. People get born in homeless conditions all the time.
That's not homeless, that's around the poverty line. Homeless would mean living in the street in a cardboard box. Even so, they are capable of working and saving money just like every other individual.
We have been waiting since the 1950's for the development of gadgets that are cool and "exciting", but yet we haven't went far but maybe only two miles, But the real question is, are we ever gonna get to the point where we have these items or are we just gonna be the same way in 2040?
Haven't you seen that we've come from text-based operating systems in the 80s like Windows 3.0 to Windows 7 with Direct-X 11 running Crysis on anywhere from between 13.5" (Laptop) to 52" (Giant TV) monitors? Or the fact that the SuperComputer on the Space Shuttle Challenger when it failed and exploded is now equivalent to the CPU found in a pocket calculator. Or the fact that a $300 NetBook is vastly superior to any priced computer from the 70s or 80s. Yes, we do not yet have "flying cars" (They are in the process) or "pill food" but technology is evolving rapidly, almost too rapidly. An avid computer gamer needs to upgrade his computer every 6 months or so now to keep up with the rapidly evolving technology. In a 4 year technology degree, everything you learn in your 1st year is outdated by your 3rd year. Future Technology is on the way. IEDs in Iraq? They have a Tesla-Coil Equipped Van that can destroy IEDs from medium-long range with a 98% success rate. It's in testing and soon to be deployed in the field. The US Navy has a railgun that can fire a tungsten rod so fast that the friction ignites the oxygen in the air on fire. Do not doubt technology, it's evolving faster than we need it to.
What the fuck are you talking about. People get born in homeless conditions all the time.
i think he means people don't have much of a chance of becoming rich if they're homeless edit: oh i was wrong
Avatar of the year.
thx m8!!
When some rich corporation takes an interest in space mining, shit will get real. Cheaper electronics so you can embed shit into anything, we also might figure out new ways to generate and store power in smaller sizes (perhaps a shoe that generates electricity from sunlight and uses that to power motors that automatically do your shoelaces. Which would be awesome.)
i think stories of homeless bums becoming CEOs of multibillion $$ corporations are few and far between
Have you seen the TV Show about pan handlers? There's this guy who has one set of clothes he keeps for panhandling during the day, and doing 8 hours of panhandling a day, he makes $85,000+. After work, he heads to his nice-little condo, puts on his real clothes, cleans himself up, and heads out for a night on the town. There's people in my city who have been panhandling on the same corner for 3+ years because it's so profitable. It's sad that these people are better off than many by living off the charity of others.
i think he means people don't have much of a chance of becoming rich if they're homeless
I'm just being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative. [editline]06:46PM[/editline]
That's not homeless, that's around the poverty line. Homeless would mean living in the street in a cardboard box. Even so, they are capable of working and saving money just like every other individual.
But it's much more difficult to achieve than, say, someone born in the high class. Some would say that it's nigh impossible.
penis
I'm still waiting for broadband.
We can't predict the future, so everything seems a disappointment, i mean whats more interesting to children, carbon nano-tubes, or hover cars?
Carbon nano-tubes. That shit is lighter than air iirc.
POWER LACES!!! /caps
Future tech is out, the only thing is that when it comes out it is no longer future tech because it becomes outdated straight away. People are developing new shit every day and I love the fact they invented the laser mouse and LCD monitors. Quad core is here too which is cool.
According to Back to the Future we'll have flying cars and hoverboards in the next four years, and according to Tarn Adams we'll have Dwarf Fortress 1.0 in the next 15 years. :downsbravo:
I don't think we'll have hover-boards and flying cars for a long time. Even though many things we have now weren't deemed possible years back, making objects such as cars fly seems to be a long way off.
We have been waiting since the 1950's for the development of gadgets that are cool and "exciting", but yet we haven't went far but maybe only two miles, But the real question is, are we ever gonna get to the point where we have these items or are we just gonna be the same way in 2040?
You must be at least 10. The entire world around you has changed. Everything is cool and "exciting" compared to what we had, even in the 1990s. Computers evolve at least every day, if not more.
Fear not gentlemen! The future has arrived. I have acquired an oddity of the future world, a window into a Golden Age of science and technology. I call this miraculous device a "glow-wand" I have attached a link to an image of this magical tool: http://www.wm.edu/blogs/studentblogs/adreanne/images/Flashlight.jpg After hours of intensive scientific inquiry, I realized that, by utilizing the bright lights that could be generated by the passage of electricity through metal coils, I would be able to provide mankind with a small but powerful source of light. Please message me if you wish to be a recipient of the tool of the future. A standard "glow-wand" retails for around $700, but for my fellow facepunchers, I am willing to reduce that price to a measly $150! This is a once in a lifetime offer, so act now! The point of my insane rambling that you may have witnessed above is that that future has come and gone. We are in an age in which scientific progress is hindered by petty squabbles, and other facets of human shortcomings. So yeah... by the way, if anyone wants to pay me $150 for a flashlight, feel free.
You're complaining about a lack of "exciting" technology? Here is a suggestion: if it bothers you that much, stop talking about it over the internet (which in itself is such a technology when compared older devices) and make some of it yourself. Humanity is steadily becoming more and more advanced. I'm sure people 30 or 40 years ago would never have even dreamed of a concept such as the internet, let alone how they would go about creating it. We may hit speedbumps while taking the road to being hyper-advanced, technological deities, but there is nothing we can't accomplish. This "future tech" you speak of will come. Perhaps not in your lifetime, but rest assured it will come. Until then, stop bitching about a lack of scientific advancements that interest you.
Every second is the future, every nanosecond is the future.
I know I'm late, but that isn't true at all, in any way. The future is what will happen, the present is what's happening, and the past is what happened. It's never the future, it's always the present. That's how it works also the gentleman saying it's easy to get rich has no clue about anything
Hover cars?
What happens if you stall it?
Are you an idiot? The amount of technology I've seen being developed in my life is incredible, and I'm not even 20 yet.
I'll just quote this thread for you.
There was a thread in GD a few days ago about so-called "future technology" never arriving. The OP basically said technology has not changed much in the last 15-or-so years. Which got me thinking: Just how much has technology improved in the last decade? Well to start with, we have mobile phones. Both these two phones were/are classed as top-of-the-range, and the very cutting edge of mobile phone technology, from 2000 and 2010: Anyone want a game of Snake? Then we have laptops. I'm going to use Macs for this example here, as Apple products are generally seen as very modern machines. The MacBook wasn't introduced until 2006, but the equivalent before that was the iBook, which resembled a clamshell: The iBooks must have been an absolute bitch to store anywhere. Of course, video games have improved vastly and will continue to do so, but what games generally pay more attention to detail than the FPS? Although these games aren't necessarily 2000-2010 (although preview screenshots of Rage have been released so we are looking at 2010 graphics), I feel they quite well reflect the technology of the time, and both are based on the same engine: And what about data storage? An average hard-drive in 2000 would have a capacity of between 10 and 20 Gigabytes, so in order to achieve a storage capacity of, say, 160GB, you'd need a whopping ten of these drives (as well as more than a few slave ports available :v:). Now, Kingston have released an external hard drive for a mere $88: These are four rather limited examples, but you can see just how much technology has improved in the first ten years of this millenium. And if I were to make this thread again in 2020, who knows? Would we be laughing at those ridiculously bulky MacBook Pros, or the meagre amount f storage you can fit in the palm f your hand? Hope you enjoyed the read brahs.
Everyone's talking about electronic computer technology and such, and I agree that that is impressive. But what I find most exciting is the recent advances in nanotechnology and materials science. Super-strong carbon nanotubes, materials that bend electromagnetic radiation, organic solar cells and organic LEDs, paper-thin displays, and printed electronics, to name a few. And then there's also the research into quantum and optical computing which is pretty thrilling too. Also advances in fusion power technologies and laser technologies, and battery technology.
Still waiting for these
