Sarah Churchill (Winston's second daughter) was a friend of my father's.
Before dying she left that photograph to my father (I could post pictures of it in the case if requested) which she used as her bedside photograph of her parents throughout the war.
Post it in the case.
Oh and not to take this off topic, but a few of the bud vases I posted seem to have signatures on them:

Anyone able to read them?
I think that one says 'Kagetsu' 花月
Literally 'flower month' - even more literally the characters themselves could mean 'flower moon'. Hope this helps

Forgive the terrible quality cameraphone, it's all I have at hand.

Taken the 25th of September 1940 apparently.
It folds into a wallet like case too.
I edited it into the post above.

Im a member of the Danish Homeguard (national guard). I stopped going to their stuff though because it was full of rednecks and survivalist nut-jobs. Some of them extremely racist gun-psychos. So now Im in the reserve, but I get to keep the gear. Unfortunately they had to confiscate my C7. :)
Looking at other people's collections made me realize i don't have as much cool shit as i thought, but here's some of my stuff. I apologize for the lighting and shit photos, no idea why it's so yellow. My camera is shit and my lightbulb is shit too and it's nighttime so i can't go outside.
First Gulf War M1A1 Abrams CVC Helmet, Older than i am.

Half life 2: Raising the bar. Managed to find a copy for reasonably cheap on amazon so i got it for myself. It's awesome.

And being a true member of facepunch, i have gas masks.
[img_thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9988278/gasmasks/masks1.jpg[/img_thumb]
Among other stuff i'm not gonna take photos of since my camera is being shit, I have a bunch of Valve stuff such as 2 headcrabs, a copy of HL1 in the original box and all the paperwork that came with it (like a "FREE INTERNET TRIAL" from 1998) and some L4D2 and TF2 posters, Mass Effect 3 Collector's edition, and a huge fucking mass effect 1 poster that takes up half my wall, and a bunch of other assorted military stuff. If i can find anything worth posting i'll take some decent pictures tomorrow.
This probably isn't that special to anyone else, but I think it's cool. My friend sent me this RUN-DMC record a couple of days ago.

Wow that completely obliterates my collection, hope I can get it up to that size in the future.
Also on an unrelated note seeing as how everyone is posting their game collections, is anyone interested on potentally having a retro gaming thread in GGD?

Flea markets, yard sale hunting (be sure to ask owners about old gaming stuff, some people are really oblivious to the value of retro gaming these days,) thrift stores, craigslist, eBay, or if imports, Rakuten. Personally I do flea markets for cheap stuff and eBay for nicer games, plus if you find especially undervalued goods at flea markets you can flip it for profit on eBay. Games on Rakuten will get really cheap but have extreme EMS shipping rates, I got Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast for about a dollar there and a complete Mother 2 for under $10. The shipping alone doubled the price of my lot, but it arrived from the other side of the planet in about 3 days.
Also, General Games Discussion would be better for a retro gaming thread.
I was extremelly lucky with my collection so far.
once this one guy was going bankrup at the Flea market and he knew me pretty well.
He sold me a boxed Dreamcast +40 ish burned games for 40$.The thing works better than the one I got from ebay for 60$.(It was also a refurbished,That asshole didnt told that on the auction,so now the thing works half the time).
Or here in quebec there is that time of the year where the whole city do a yardsale so I just cruise all over the town trying to find cheap stuff.
I have like 4 genesis so far,People are almost donating them,Its sad really its a real awesome system !
Thats how I got that barbie game.
Or sometimes its the contrary people will see Nintendo gameboy games for 10-20$ each !
You cant bargain with these.

Yeah I meant GGD, whoops.
Anyway I do go to bootsales (Uk equivilent of flea markets) and do search around in charity (thrift) shops and ebay sometimes. Problem is my dad dosen't take to bootsales after earlier than 9.00am and i've been told by my brother who sells stuff there that all the stuff goes before then also my dad only gives me about a £10 note which is good for a few things but puts me out of bigger items like consoles. Charity shops have only ever brought up one or two items in my entire six/seven years of game collecting and garage (yard) sales are extremely rare in my area.

I haven't flown the plane yet, though I have run the engine on the ground and taxied it around my driveway, but the car runs like a champ. Both have engines in them, no electrics for me thanks.

This one no longer runs. I bought it way back in 2003 and drove the wheels off of it. Literally. Blew the engine, replaced that, then the chassis just sort of went to shit. The engine was plopped into the el-cam above, the chassis now sits on my dresser. It holds too much sentimental value for me to get rid of it, it was the first RC I owned that wasn't a crappy walmart toy AND the first one that had an engine in it, but it's too worn out to be safe to run.
Other cool things I have, but don't have pictures of: A spent .50BMG casing, along with a bullet to match, the headset that a WW2 US bomber pilot would have worn, and a turn-of-the-20th 12 gauge shotgun that sort of still works. The bullet, casing and headset were from my late grandpa, who flew tail gunner on a B24 in the Pacific, while the shotgun has been a family hand-me-down since it was bought new. I'm afraid to fire the shotgun because A: Only one firing pin works properly, and B: It's so old it's got a damascus barrel which doesn't get along with modern powder loads all that well.
I have a freezer.
That's cool, right?
I have a Toshiba T1000LE (laptop from 1990)
I also have a bunch o' skulls (animal ones, like sheep and rabbits and other things)
I live in the UK and I have an American Coca-Cola can signed by Gabe. That's cool right?
