All content for OP was from Anonymouse, I simply copy and pasted
The band was founded in early 2001 in Raleigh, North Carolina by vocalist Tommy Rogers, guitarist Paul Waggoner, drummer Will Goodyear, guitarist Nick Fletcher (formerly Empire Falls), and bassist Jason King.[5] Between the Buried and Me's first release was a three-song demo, containing the tracks "Use of a Weapon," "What We Have Become," and "More of Myself to Kill." These three tracks were re-recorded for the band's first full-length album, Between the Buried and Me, released on Lifeforce Records in 2002. Musical style varied, with hints of death metal, grindcore, indie, and thrash metal. This album includes the track "Arsonist," a protest against the beliefs and practices of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas. The song "Aspirations" became the band's first music video. This album is not widely known and the tracks are rarely played live, but it did get the attention of Victory Records, to which they later signed. Victory Records reissued the album in 2004 as an enhanced CD. In 2003, the band released their second studio album, The Silent Circus, featuring the singles "Mordecai", "Aesthetic", and "Camilla Rhodes". "Mordecai"[6] was produced as their second music video. The album was re-released in 2006 with a live DVD of the band's performance at The Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on July 17, 2005. Mark Castillo played drums on The Silent Circus replacing Will Goodyear however, on the live DVD Blake Richardson, Dustie Waring, and Dan Briggs had already joined the band and recording for Alaska was already finished. In early 2005 the band changed their lineup. Drummer Blake Richardson replaced Mark Castillo, bassist Dan Briggs replaced Jason King, and guitarist Dustie Waring replaced Nick Fletcher. In the summer of 2005, Between the Buried and Me released their third studio album, Alaska. The title track "Alaska" became their third music video. This release included the singles "Selkies: The Endless Obssession", "The Primer", and "Backwards Marathon". On this album the band shows their musical prowess, the last track on the CD "Laser Speed" mixes salsa with a conglomeration of traditional jazz and free form bossa nova. In 2006, the band released The Anatomy Of..., a collection of covers of bands that influenced Between the Buried and Me, including Metallica, King Crimson, Queen, Pink Floyd, Earth Crisis, Counting Crows, and Blind Melon. In September 2007, the band released their fourth studio album, Colors. The band has said that "it's a 65 minute opus of non stop pummeling beautiful music... we have described this release as 'new wave polka grunge.'"[7] Elsewhere, they have also described it as "adult contemporary progressive death metal."[citation needed]. On November 6, the song "Prequel to the Sequel" was made available as downloadable content for Rock Band and Rock Band 2 on the Playstation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace.[8] As of mid December 2008, the band has finished a song for their follow up to Colors. Describing it as a "noisy Coalesce breakdown, 3/4 Mastodon groove, 9/8 Mars Volta, Queen chromatic build up, and Megadeth chorus"[9]. Tommy Rogers has stated they plan to 'out do Colors'. [10] The group is scheduled to go back to the studio May 31.
Between the Buried and Me [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5d/Self_Titled.jpg[/img_thumb] Their first album, which is self titled, was pretty much just a display of skill. Not their best work is on here though. Track Listing: 1. "More of Myself to Kill" – 6:50 2. "Arsonist" – 4:52 3. "Aspirations" – 5:47 4. "What We Have Become" – 5:09 5. "Fire for a Dry Mouth" – 6:07 6. "Naked by the Computer" – 5:36 7. "Use of a Weapon" – 4:53 8. "Shevanel Cut a Flip" – 9:27 The Silent Circus [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0d/TheSilentCircus.jpg[/img_thumb] This is their second album, which still isn't their best, but is better than their first album. And yes, The Need for Repetition is 13:37 long, get over it. Track Listing: 1. Lost Perfection (a) Coulrophobia – 4:13 2. Lost Perfection (b) Anablephobia – 3:01 3. Camilla Rhodes – 4:49 4. Mordecai – 5:47 5. Reaction – 2:00 6. (Shevanel Take 2) – 3:13 7. Ad a dglgmut – 7:38 8. Destructo Spin – 4:46 9. Aesthetic – 3:44 10. The Need for Repetition – 13:37 Colors [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e3/Between_the_Buried_and_Me-Alaska.jpg[/img_thumb] This album is probably MY favorite of theirs, displaying all of their skill, with amazing lyrics, and all instruments. All sorts of varieties of music are on here, going from instrumentals to...unexplainable works of art. All the songs play into eachother, although you can start from the middle of the album and not start in the middle of a verse. Track Listing: 1. All Bodies – 6:12 2. Alaska – 3:57 3. Croakies and Boatshoes – 2:22 4. Selkies: The Endless Obsession – 7:23 5. Breathe In, Breathe Out – 0:55 6. Roboturner – 7:07 7. Backwards Marathon – 8:27 8. Medicine Wheel – 4:18 9. The Primer – 4:46 10. Autodidact – 5:30 11. Laser Speed – 2:53 The Anatomy of [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7c/Between_The_Buried_And_Me_-_The_Anatomy_Of.jpg[/img_thumb] This album is just a cover album, where they do covers of their most influential artists/songs. Track Listing: 1. "Blackened" (Metallica cover) (James Hetfield, Jason Newsted, Lars Ulrich) – 6:40 2. "Kickstart My Heart" (Mötley Crüe cover) (Nikki Sixx) – 4:55 3. (The Smashing Pumpkins cover) (Billy Corgan) – 5:25 8. "Forced March" (Earth Crisis cover) (Karl Buechner) – 3:52 9. "Territory" (Sepultura cover) (Sepultura) – 4:50 10. "Cemetery Gates" (Pantera cover) (Phil Anselmo, Darrell Abbott, Rex Brown, Vinne Paul Abbott) – 7:05 14. "Colorblind" (Counting Crows cover) (Adam Duritz, Charlie Gillingham) – 3:47 Colors [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/cb/Colors1.jpg[/img_thumb] This is my second favorite album of theirs, also where they display all of their talent. All the songs play into eachother, and if you put it on shuffle, most of the songs STILL play into eachother well. It's kind of scary. Track Listing: 1. "Foam Born (a) The Backtrack" – 2:13 2. "Foam Born (b) The Decade of Statues" – 5:20 3. "Informal Gluttony" – 6:47 4. "Sun of Nothing" – 10:59 5. "Ants of the Sky" – 13:10 6. "Prequel to the Sequel" – 8:36 7. "Viridian" – 2:51 8. "White Walls" – 14:13 The Great Misdirect [img_thumb]http://lukerj.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/tumblr_kvmxp58eth1qa839c.jpg[/img_thumb] 1. "Mirrors"- 3:38 2. "Obfuscation"- 9:15 3. "Disease, Injury, Madness"- 11:03 4. "Fossil Genera – A Feed from Cloud Mountain"- 12:11 5. "Desert of Song"- 5:34 6. "Swim to the Moon"- 17:54 The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues [img_thumb]http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/images/covers/between-the-buried-and-me-the-parallax-hypersleep-dialogues(ep).jpg[/img_thumb] New album coming out April 12th 2011. Originally supposed to be a EP the band decided otherwise, this is also first album with their new deal with Metal Blade Records. Pre-Order now Track Listing 1. Specular Reflection 2. Augment of Birth 3. Lunar Wilderness
I'm seeing them play in Farmingdale on the 15th, I cannot wait. Also you are missing The Great Misdirect in between Colors and Parallax Hypersleep Dialogue
They do a surprisingly good cover of Us and Them.
You're missing "The Great Misdirect".
Best Prog Metal band. Love 'em.
"for the simple idea of cheeseburgers~" [editline]24th March 2011[/editline] absolutely fantastic band :h:
Fire For A Dry Mouth has possibly the best lyrics ever; "Go fuck your life away with your filthy STDs and your fucking night of rape." "Just go jerk off on your fucking stomach, impregnate yourself." "I piss in your mouth now, so don't ever talk to me again." Oh, and "TONIGHT, TONIGHT I KILL YOUR FUCKING FACE" goes alright too. Also, the first two seconds or so of Mordecai never fail to cheer me up.
This band's lyrics are just... Well, I described them to a friend as "if you gave an ADHD man a few hits of acid and told him to say the first things that came to mind." The only songs I really know and love from these guys are Ants of the Sky and Swim to The Moon, simply because they're both really long songs and are incredibly fun to play in Frets on Fire. I also have the rest of Colors for FoFiX, but I don't really much care for any other song. I have to give them credit for being the first progressive metalcore band I know of, though. :golfclap:
Swim to the Moon/White Walls/Ants of the Sky are three of the best longest songs out there, with Racecar by Periphery shortly behind
I don't know about the best... I won't argue that they're awesome songs, though.
One of my all time favorite bands.
These guys were put in an alt hip-hop mix by my iTunes V:v:V
Great band, I own all their stuff apart from the self titled and Anatomy Of. Gonna try and grab the vinyl of Parallax Illusions on Record Store Day
