I was just about to mention that. In fact, my friend who I mentioned before stopped playing SM64 for a few months as a kid because of this piano and now has a slight fear of pianos. This showed when we were playing all those games and one had a piano he refused to go near until I pretty much forced him too. He was then promptly eaten by it.
That son of a bitch made me jump so high the first time I discovered it (I was 8 at the time).
One of the game over videos from Theme Hospital absolutely terrified me as a kid, it's the second one shown. Pretty much all of these as well
shadow again, but the introduction 1:30 - 1:40. The way sonic falls, as a kid I never saw anything like it. Scared me
Alien Queen from Ratchet and Clank (best picture I could find, it's still not great). [t]http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/fiitIwzHe9s/maxresdefault.jpg[/t] I had a demo disc from a Playstation magazine, and one of the things on it was the first level of Silent Hill 3, that was pretty scary. Also, the catacomb level in Return to Castle Wolfenstein, I think my cousin ended up completing it for me. A lot of enemies in daggerfall scared the shit out of me because of the noises they made. (Plus they could wreck your shit.) [sp]the sounds are still a little unnerving to this day.[/sp]

Whenever something bad happened I always used to jump for the volume knob before the music started to play.
I was too scared to go anywhere beyond the starting point in Metroid Prime 2 because of potential danger, but I'm thankful for the player guide that showed me the light. I treated anything creepy as they were nothing since then.
12 years old. Well this game is pretty creepy, but cool at the same time, I really like i- THE FUCK IS THAT!!!!!!!!
The Knaaren in Rayman 3.
One of the first computer games I ever played was Doom, so I can safely say I wasn't really scared per se of anything in a video game.
Yeah I use to watch a lot of horror movies as a kid so nothing in video games really scared me either, Alone in the Dark was probably the only thing I guess but then again not being able to fight anything without getting your ass kicked made you run away anyway.
This FUCKING game Shadow monsters GIANT MONKEY 5 year old me couldn't handle this shit

Now-a-day, I've fortunately overcome my arachnophobia so I'm cool with them now.

It is not particularly fun to force my pilots to slaughter all those innocent families before you can zombify them, but after the hundredth mission restart you've finally convinced me I'm too incompetent to save them all. Thank you~ - little me
I was a little coward as a little coward, it's nearly impossible to think of a game from my childhood which didn't have parts that frightened me. Like Banjo-Kazooie, I'd just load up the game, walk out of Grunty's Lair, and run around Spiral Mountain. I later embiggened my courage and started playing games proper but I feel like my skills have been stunted by my past anxieties. Nowadays my fears a more, shall we say, "adult"...

Loading screens. I don't know, when I was younger they freaked me out.
Zombies and mutants in old 3D games always creeped me out because of the abstract blocky graphics. But nowadays I just can't get creeped out by games at all.
Zombies and mutants in old 3D games always creeped me out because of the abstract blocky graphics. But nowadays I just can't get creeped out by games at all.
Play that White Day game that I linked earlier, I'm sure you'll get that feeling
Play that White Day game that I linked earlier, I'm sure you'll get that feeling
Any suggestions where people might find it? It seems like it's a rather obscure title.
This guy used to scare me a lot for some reason.

I remember how I would refuse to play The Sims during night because I was so darn terrified of those... [sp]Nowadays they still make me flinch at the very least[/sp]
Years and years ago, I actually couldn't finish Red Faction 2 because of the train tunnel section, it terrified me. :v:
when i played abe's oddyssey/exoddus as a kid, i jumped every time i was seen by a slig or any other threat. the soundtrack gets so much more intense when you're spotted and the way the sligs say "FREEZE" is super startling. looking back at the games now, i think they have some of the most brilliant sound design in any game i've played, even when i go back and replay them i'm still going "OH SHIT OH SHIT GET AWAY" every time i'm spotted. the way the controls kinda lock you in one direction and prevent you from running backwards easily also adds to the intensity of the chase segments, aswell as the fact that pretty much everything kills you in one hit. brilliant games.
Discovering Andross' true form in Star Fox 64 creeped me out back then [t]http://i.imgur.com/nc2MI6p.png[/t] Nowadays though? Its these fuckers from Serious Sam...once you hear that sound, shits about to get real [t]http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111129084958/serious/images/6/6c/Kleer_3.png[/t]
The factory level of DK64 always spooked me silly as a kid. Nowadays, I have a deep-seated fear of deep, murky water, so that bumps in thousands of things onto the list for me. One in particular was fighting Lord Wu Fak Fak in Banjo-Tooie, I start getting anxious and sweaty just swimming towards the lockers, and it's really annoying that I can't seem to get over that fear.

Thank you~ - little me
It's entirely possible to save them all, the trick is not to escort them but instead have two groups of acolytes+recons, one that is about 1/3 along the route and the other at 2/3 of the route. Then just constantly pause and use slowmo and direct them to attack the groups before they even engage the transports, ignore the fighters as they will bog you down, focus on the missiles and you can pull it off. Also fun fact, an mcv can actually take on the appearance of the colony ship though it has no beneficial effect.
The ichthyosaur in hl1 seriously that thing is just fucking scary its as scary as those electric fishes from serious sam. When I first played hl2 and when I got that thing after the teleport sequence i was scared shitless. Had to take a break for a while. I was glad they never used it in any water related level. Also that part, were you crash in the combine stalker train and one of them tries to claw alyx to death was very very nerve wracking I was literally panicking with the grav gun. HL3 is going to have ichynosaur and more nerve testing moments for sure. I'm not prepared. (kinda ventured off the thread title well almost but w/e)
