Wonder if he's a mobster (ex or not). Could be stealing uncut stuff and having him do it or something.
Looks like I'll be pulling over more often.
If you feel awkward go back and ask him about it, see if it was intentional. If it wasn't, you'll have a clean conscience. If it was, you may get to hear some more stories.
Easy money.
I'd say you should invest it in gold. That way its pretty much guaranteed to increase in value.
I think I'm going to go donate 100$ to a local charity tomorrow, they're having a rummage sale at the church not too far away
Maybe he's going to kill himself and wanted to give his money to a nice young man who helped him clean his garbage.
Maybe he's going to kill himself and wanted to give his money to a nice young man who helped him clean his garbage.
don't say that :(
If he owned a jewelry store in NYC, he's likely pretty well off even if his ex-wife took half. I can't say what it's like from experience, but I imagine that when I'm older with no children living with me, a neighbor offering me help with a big chore would seem like a godsend. It's likely he just was really thankful and decided to give you a big reward for being a good person. Don't feel bad about taking the money, I doubt very much that he feels bad about giving it to you. Like StormHammer said though, if you really do feel like it could have been a mistake on his part, ask him. I'm sure he won't be offended.
yeh sounds like he just wanted to reward you.
Gaw dammit I'm jealous. I'm still saving up for a winter jacket. Unfortunately the freezing weather doesn't wait for my paycheck :v:
Offering to help someone as a kind gesture and even get paid for it is different to just doing a job, what you did was nice and you were given that money as a reward for your generosity. You lucky mother fucker.
Do you have a car? Save up!
"I pulled over to ask if he needed help"
No car of my own. I share with my older sister. She works nights and sleeps during the day so it works out fine for me. Plus, my insurance is lower because I'm an 'infrequent drivers'. I only pay 36$ a month and not 66 Thats why I feel bad, I don't want to take some little old man's retirement money :(
Don't feel bad. I doubt his bills take up all his money, and being an old man living alone, he probably has nothing to spend it on either.
i still say check with the guy out of sheer humbleness, and ask him if he miscounted
you got stacks
Save it up for whatever. Who knows, it might be good for gas money if you ever decide to go on a lengthy road trip.
Obligatory.
Just as fitting.
He turned out to be a pretty chill guy, his name was Grusen Hollen, a German-born jeweler with an awesome thick accent that came to the US in the late 50's.
He is obviously a jewelry thief, that's why he had so much dosh
he was a nazi who stole all the jewish golds and you helped him get rid of the evidence you traitor
he was a nazi who stole all the jewish golds and you helped him get rid of the evidence you traitor
But he was so nice
Did we really need three pictures of the money spread out different ways :v:
But he was so nice
ALL the JEWISH GOLDS ESRANGE ALL OF THEMS
Did we really need three pictures of the money spread out different ways :v:
Not really, but I didn't want idiots claiming I put a 20 on a stack of 1's
Why do you put the $ behind the numbers?
well if he smiled and gave it to you in a paper bag to possibly surprise you then it was intentional. Why would he give you 80 dollars in a paper bag?
Uh... you should probably save it, or spend it on something important if you're unemployed
Brb gonna clean somebody's garage.
Put it in a savings account, OP. Preferably with a credit union instead of a bank. [editline]7th October 2011[/editline] Alternatively, buy me Space Marine. [editline]7th October 2011[/editline] Don't really do that, I'd feel bad.
Absolutely nothing, just save it. Every time these topics show up there's 9/10th posts saying you should spend it

I'd say check with the guy first. Seriously, he could have miscounted. If he didn't, save it up.
