I am aiming just to keep fit not be a fitness fanatic. Also, I don't have to justify what is wrong with me to you. I cannot stand for even over 45 minutes without getting serious back pain which results in me not being able to stand it hurts so much and it has been that way since for as long as I can remember. Also, when did I ask you for your opinion of if it was an "excuse" or not? I was asking someone for some serious advice on just being a bit more healthy. The speed of my back pain depends on the activity I do and with walking it isn't so bad. My sister has the same issue and had to quit her entire career of nursing as our doctor said she would cause some serious permanent damage.
Sorry, from your original post, it came across to me that you were some nervous basement-dweller who brought the whole weak bones on himself. And I wasn't asking you to justify yourself, merely asking what the problem was. 30 minutes a day won't do jack-shit if you're not eating healthy. And spending 30 minutes a day walking and the rest of the day sitting on the PC sort of cancels it out.
I am sorry, I just get a little upset by it that I lost my temper a little as sometimes I feel pretty useless. Like when I moved the other month I had to sit out for most of the heavy moving and felt totally useless. I can do swimming still but due to just moving I don't know the area yet. I am a bit of a slacker when it comes to healthy eating I just eat whatever I want but in moderation, so I don't go over the top. I am female and to be honest I just want to look "nice" in a swimsuit sort of thing. I look average now and want to look a bit better than average y'know? I am ok with my weight just want to tone it a little but with my body being so pathetic I am not sure what would work best.
Not sure if this has been covered, but, I heard if you do take drinking water with you, it should be at room temperature, not cold - y /n?
30 minutes a day won't do jack-shit if you're not eating healthy. And spending 30 minutes a day walking and the rest of the day sitting on the PC sort of cancels it out.
This is why I hate fitness threads sometimes, those more familiar with fitness routines like to belittle others efforts. 30 minutes a day is a good start in my book, especially for those a little less motivated or find it embarrassing or tedious to get out and exercising, I mean sure, you do have to get past that 'trial' stage an push it to see results. Eating healthily is for a large part a lot of bollocks, depending on what you want to do with your body. Last year I lived on chocolate but got out of the house a lot more, I was FAR more contented with my weight. I actually eat food now, but I'm doing less, I've gained 14lbs. If you want to be buff, it's weights with a mostly all-round diet, but particularly dominated with protein and carbs, you really have to fill the tank. But usually, if you do enough exercise, you can pretty much eat what you want so long as number of calories consumed is not greater than what is burned off, generally. I'm no fitness pro, so feel free to critise / disregard my post, but it's just what I've encountered from myself and other people. Edit: Sorry to sound aggressive or anything, also my 'd' doesn't work, so I have to CTRL-v and it's doing my nut.
Not sure if this has been covered, but, I heard if you do take drinking water with you, it should be at room temperature, not cold - y /n?
It shouldn't be too cold as this can cause hypothermia along with all the sweat.
Not sure if this has been covered, but, I heard if you do take drinking water with you, it should be at room temperature, not cold - y /n?
And cold water can cause stomach ulcers. I hate cold water, if it's slightly cold or room temp, it's alright.
I am sorry, I just get a little upset by it that I lost my temper a little as sometimes I feel pretty useless. A back problem? If so, just stick with swimming, seeing as it'll not put as much pressure and weight on your joints. And it's really good for losing weight. Go to the doctor though, because not being able to walk for long distances is seriously going to hamper your day to day life.
Well I'm not very nutritions facts savvy but I began eating healthier food after someone posted something about cottage cheese and yogurt, and I noticed that there is about 5mg of cholestrol in cottage cheese. Should I worry about such a small amount?
loopoo: The family on my mums side all seem to have weak bones and my great grand mother had very bad osteoporosis. I think the bad genetics mixed with the complications in my development when my mum was pregnant with me have sort of resulted in just shitty bones as my back is the worst out of my family (we're a small family so I don't have many relatives to compare too but all of the ones on my mums side have some sort of issue.) I have heard that exercise can help stop bone degeneration when I get older if I have a genetic tendency towards osteoporosis so that is a reason I am looking for a good exercise regime I can stick with because I remember my great grandmother was stuck in a wheel chair in her final years (but I was very young when she died but I think it was due to her bone degeneration.)
loopoo: The family on my mums side all seem to have weak bones and my great grand mother had very bad osteoporosis and it can be genetic even though it happens more in older people. Get some excercise, start off swimming first, then start walking for long distances, then jogging, then running. With lots of physical activity, bones grow "nubs" on them to help anchor the muscles onto the bone itself. If you excercise a lot, I guess it could help strengthen your bones. That and drinking lots of milk. Or anything with calcium.
2. Try to workout everyday: When you will go running for the first time, it will be easy. You will have lots of energy in you and you will feel very powerful and strong. But the problem is that you also need to go running the next day and the next day and so on. This is very difficult, because your body will be exhausted from the first day. You can skip a day or two between workout for starters, but running everyday is more effective and doesn't harm you. (Unless you have your kind of problems). 6. Eating: Eat, what you want to eat. You can go on a diet, if you want faster and better results, but you can eat what you want to eat. Even if it's chocolate, cookies, meat, bread, chesse, mostly anything that you like. But don't eat too much. Like don't have a bag of cookies next to your PC. Just take a cookie or 2 if you need some sugar and you're good to go. But as I said before, after the workout, don't eat anything than just fruit and vegetables.
2. Working out the same muscle groups (In this case the legs) everyday is very dumb. Muscles need at least 48 hours to recover and that will just overwork them and they will therefore not grow. 6. What, seriously what. Muscles need PROTEIN to recover and rebuild, fruits and vegetables have almost 0 protein.
Well I'm not very nutritions facts savvy but I began eating healthier food after someone posted something about cottage cheese and yogurt, and I noticed that there is about 5ml of cholestrol in cottage cheese. It's like, bitter and sweet together in a bowl of orgasmic glory.

Running every day is not bad for your muscles. You're not lifting any more weight than your body, so your muscles wouldn't get bigger, they'd just adapt to the longer distances, thus making you more "fit". After all, running isn't for muscle development, it's to lose weight. The only reason you should rest your muscles is because you're weight-lifting much higher weights than your body would normally need to lift. This isn't the case in running.
Yeah I try to get a lot more calcium now with yoghurt and milk. I know I should see my doctor but to be honest my doctor is appalling and my town only has 1 full time GP active (she tends to not know a thing about medicine it sometimes feels like.) I guess I really should brave her with another visit and see what she recommends. Also some months they only accept emergency appointments, my local surgery is such bullshit. :< I am very grateful for the suggestions though and will try getting back into my swimming as I really enjoy it thank you my good sir. :h:
Also, if you do go to the gym, you would know this. If you kept bench pressing a certain amount, after a time, you reach your peak and you don't develop any more muscle beyond that point. So after that, it just gets easier and easier to lift more and more, but you don't actually gain that much more muscle than say when you lift an extra 10kg.
When I run I get tired really quickly, is there any way to solve this problem?
Before you go running, plan ahead what you want to eat. For example Meat and pasta contain lots of carbohydrates which are slow releasing which is great if you are a runner or as i am a swimmer, i would suggest eating it atleast 1 hour before exercise as it takes that much time for the food to begin breaking down.

Sorry for the caps, but it's a point that needs to be made to stop people from regurgitating fat/cholesterol fear that is based on information that is over 50 years old. Dietary cholesterol is needed, as is fat, to support the optimum production of testosterone and other growth hormones. So don't be afraid to eat your eggs, or cottage cheese. The only reason they're so popular is because they're a simple movement, and most people can do a fair amount of them before tiring. Deadlifting for example, is far more efficient at increasing abdominal strength. [editline]05:54PM[/editline]
I'm damn skinny and I want to gain weight. It's a relatively simple equation that so many people seem to fuck up.
my abs get solid from doing sets of 80-100 resting, then doing them again if you're not willing to put the effort in don't bother pressups get you places as well
He's right, sit-ups are terrible. Why do a million reps of lackluster sit-ups if you can do 20-30 really well done crunches with the same results? By really well done I mean DO THEM SLOWLY and give your abs a lot tension as you go.
ill stick to maxxing out hundreds at a time then lol im getting somewhere at least. deadlifting around that area only works your hips and lower back different things work for different people and i always remember this
If you guys aren't squatting you might as well not workout, for weightlifters. Squatting and powercleaning days a week, going to start benching 3 times a week as well. All with a shitload of cardio and football thrown in.
When I run I get tired really quickly, is there any way to solve this problem?
Keep running, that's what I always do. I even run through with cramps just because I won't let that bring me down.
Keep running, that's what I always do. I even run through with cramps just because I won't let that bring me down.
I don't get cramps. It's just, my heart and lungs burn when I run too far. Also I'm pidgeon chested so it's more work on my diaphragm breathing when I run, so it also tends to ache
Here's something I posted in Love Advice about my "body story":
This is true [stop drinking soda]. I used to weight 220lbs when I lived with my dad. We had soda stocked on most weeks, and my dad would always make fried food or burgers of some kind, only occasionally breaking that formula with something like BBQ ribs etc Soda is TERRIBLE for you. Each 12oz can is something close of 40g of sugar (that's about 4 cookies worth). And the ingredients is mostly water and high fructose corn syrup, and industrial sweetner which is much worse for you than normal sugar is. Sure if you have it in moderation it's not going to do bad, but the thing is soda has SHIT TONS of it inside, and everything on the market uses it as a sweetner because it's so cheap (Jelly for example, even cheapo bread uses it). If you drink 2-3 cans a day (which is pretty normal I think), that's almost 120g of sugar you are intaking from a realativly "fluff" drink that doesn't add much yum factor or health factor to your life. That's a massive amount. Once I moved out, I stopped drinking soda all together pretty much, partly due to health reasons and partly because I didn't want to spend the money (I had already started to restrict myself to just one can a day). Instead, I just drink water (which I loved to drink anyways). Plenty of water. And because I had no frier, and was buying my own food, and most of my diet consisted of the standard breakfast stuff (cereal, eng muffin, OJ), lunch was pretty standard (a sandwitch, apple, some snacky food, and a granola bar of some sort), and dinner was usually pasta/chicken/something cooked in an oven. I never got really expensive foods like ribs or most red meats (chicken is easy to make anyways, just throw in oven) and my go-to meal became rice with chicken and shredded cheese thrown on top since it is easy to make and filling. Oh and I pretty much don't snack, I get good enough of a filling from just eating my "3 meals" in the day and I'm so used to eating those meals at their portions I serve myself to whatever feels good to me, that in-between hunger never really happens. Since I moved out I've lost about 60lbs and now weight 165-170. I don't even really exercise all that much but I am somewhat active with myself (I don't usually sit around all day and I break up long periods of sitting if I am).
Point being a lot of weight loss can simply be done via good eating habits and responsable body habits as well. It's also VERY important to have a healthy, regular sleep cycle. I.E. avoid staying up all night and try to ALWAYS get a solid restful 8 hours of sleep. You'll have more energy in the morning, and you body will recover from activity MUCH better. And like I mentioned in the quote, diet is very important too if you want to lose weight. And by that I don't nessicarily mean completely change what you eat to "all green" shit. Hell i don't even do that. But having 3 solid meals a day (6 smaller meals is the ideal to keep your metabolism running), no snacking, plenty of water, and avoiding having really bad shit all the time does wonders. Like I said, I don't have a regular work out schedule or anything but I lost about 50-60lbs simply by moving out of my dad's place and taking on more responsable eating habits. This gives me more confidence in my ability to get fit, and I find myself doing stuff like working out or exercising more and more. So if you are looking to lose weight and get fit, but are really intimidated by the whole "working out" thing then just form good life/body habits that support losing weight to get you to the "next step".
By the way, I personally am not trying to lose weight so that everyone knows. I'm just trying to get stronger; I'm skinny as fuck
30 minutes a day is pathetic man. I walk 30 minutes a day anyway to get to school, plus the hours I spend with mates walking to town, going general places. Yet somehow I bet his abs not only look better than yours, but I would sure as shit bet money his abdominal strength is 10x that of yours. And that's a shitty photo.
you are stupid ?
Care to tell me why I'm stupid?
I don't workout at all.
