The double posting seems to happen mostly when the forums are going slow.
It's like it's sending the request multiple times.

It never happens for me. I see it happen occasionally to other people but I can't tell if that's due to a bad internet connection, a server hiccup, or if some Javascript is wrong. I can't fix the problem if I don't know what to fix.

you make your reply, press post quick reply, then it takes forever to load the new post, and when it does, it refreshes the page and there it is

As an addition to that, whether or not it actually double-posts seems random. Sometimes it'll double-post, sometimes it'll make an editline.
