The "No auatf" rule is getting old already.
It's there so people make new thread instead of posting into the same thread for months. It keeps the forum moving instead of stagnating into a few threads. Now stop bitching about it, this thread isn't about auatf.
Garry closed the insanely huge LMAO pics thread recently, stating that it would lag the server. Maybe the database is growing so large, that it sometimes takes a while to find the data it needs?
Let's hope Garry has backups of Facepunch.

That is my suspicion too. A fetch takes less time than writing to the database.
Many years ago we used to archive threads after 5000 posts and move them elsewhere so they didn't tie up the main server. For a while now the thread size restrictions have been all over the place. The last LAMO pics thread was something like 16000 posts and 400 pages.

AUATF was great when something on the forum broke. You would check the thread and see if it was just you. It was also a good read and I found out a lot of things about the forums. Also, a single post about my opinion is not "bitching" you touchy asshole.

I didn't realize this thread had nothing to do with it. I could've sworn it was the first sentence in the OP but I must be wrong.
At least we have this
wait no one uses it
Its been slow but now its almost unbearable.
Yeah, I got that feeling that it got worse today hour by hour. My connection is already really slow so I thought it was on my part but it's taking ridiculously long to post now.
Thought it was just me as the last few days I've been having general connection issues.
Hey Garry, could you stop torrenting for a while so we can use your forum?
It's only really bad for me when I actually make a post. It takes a shitton of time for the post to actually go through.
No it doesn't, it just takes a long time to load the page after.
When you hit post, wait about 10 seconds and then click on the number of the previous post, voila, it's posted and loaded.
Thing is when you post, the post has already been submitted but the webpage needs to take 5 minutes to refresh itself? It's pretty stupid

I thought it was a issue with my DNS at first. :v:

504 error, speak of the devil.
I made a post in one thread and it created five different copies of the post looking like it were spam or something.
It's probably a sign that the snow flakes are coming back.
Head for the hills!
Wow, I thought my net was just going full retard on specifically Facepunch.
Also please, no more snow flakes
Works as good spam filter I guess.

I'm wondering if this is caused by the DB taking a while to report a successful insertion or update. Normally you don't want to just push the user to a new page until the database has told you what's broken.
Slowpunch you say? My time has come!
[editline]8th November 2013[/editline]
but seriously facepunch is much slower than I remember, still faster than paypal though
I'm now ready against the snow flakes.
Only thing I've noticed is that replying takes forever. I can even browse the forums normally on other tabs while it loads.
Slow when posting?
Yeah, sometimes I have to resend the reply to get the screen 'you posted a duplicate' and then sometimes it loads properly and I see what I replied in the thread.
Slow when posting?
Yeah page takes a while to refresh to show you your post
For me it kind of escalated to the point where the entire site just continuously loads.
OK should be better now?
much better actually
Woop, awesome
