So you can't just wait till you get your computer back instead of "bitching" about it when it's your own choice?
It's like "ARHG I'M SO PISSED OFF! I killed this guy while a cop was nearby and I got caught! Of all the nerve!"
It's like "ARHG I'M SO PISSED OFF! I killed this guy while a cop was nearby and I got caught! Of all the nerve!"
uhh no one was talking about cops chunky
uhh no one was talking about cops chunky
it's called a comparison you nincompoop
it's called a comparison you nincompoop
Isn't that a metaphor?
It's like "ARHG I'M SO PISSED OFF! I killed this guy while a cop was nearby and I got caught! Of all the nerve!"
Pretty much. It's so silly to complain about stuff you choose to do.
Isn't that a metaphor?
Her eyes shined like 10 000 suns and smelled like 50 dead babies.
That's a metaphor.
Isn't that a metaphor?
Metaphors are a type of comparison.
Her eyes shined like 10 000 suns and smelled like 50 dead babies.
That's a metaphor.
Actually that's a simile.
"Her eyes are 10 000 shining suns" would be more correct.
Actually that's a simile.

Ah, damn. Well, they are both really metaphors. But, yeah.
Her eyes shined like 10 000 suns and smelled like 50 dead babies.
That's a metaphor.
Would "describing something without using adjectives or adverbs" be a good way to describe metaphors?
Maybe not now that i think about it.

"Describing something by using something else to describe it with" maybe?

A simile is saying something is like something else.
A metaphor is saying something is something else to describe it.
A metaphor is a figure of speech concisely expressed by comparing two things, saying that one is the other.

For example, when Chunky says he has a soul he uses a figure of speech to make his joy into what we know as the soul.
So when he says he lost part of his soul he just means that he got a little bit more hateful.
My parents hardly even know me xD
Sad.

Pretty much this.
Watching Kampfer is like burning your eyes with fire made of QUALITY. < Simile.
Watching Kampfer is looking into the pits of hell. < Metaphor. (Replaced with a better one)
Oh yeah, if you haven't guessed I'm watching Kampfer right now. It's not that bad though, I just needed some examples.

That's not better. It's actually worse.
That's not better. It's actually worse.
By "better" I mean it's easier to see how it's a metaphor.
By "better" I mean it's more easily classed as a metaphor.
It's missing a word and as such is crap without that word.
It's missing a word and as such is crap without that word.
I'm taking a wild stab here, but I'm guessing you're talking about the word "like" between "is" and "looking".
Adding that would make it a simile.

Exactly, and that's why it's a shitty metaphor.
Exactly, and that's why it's a shitty metaphor.
But if you made it a simile it would no longer really be a metaphor. So it's a perfect metaphor.
chunkymonkey is like 1000 killer bees that are pissed off because some kid threw a rock at their nest.
Exactly, and that's why it's a shitty metaphor.
The metaphor it shitty due to it's shit content/comparison, but as Dgg said it's still technically a perfect metaphor so it works well as an example.
That makes it "better" than the first example I had.
And with that I'm off to sleep. It's been a long day.
But if you made it a simile it would no longer really be a metaphor. So it's a perfect metaphor.
its a bad metaphor made by gutting out a good simile
But if you made it a simile it would no longer really be a metaphor. So it's a perfect metaphor.
No, it's not.
No, it's not.
If a metaphor is a metaphor then it is a perfect metaphor.
Then you can argue if it is a good or bad metaphor. But it doesn't change the fact that it is perfect as a metaphor.

No! It's a simile with a vital word missing and all that does is make it a crappy sentence.

It's not a perfect metaphor, at all.
