Just rewatched it. I think I was too scared about it being bad to really enjoy it. Much funnier throughout on second viewing.
I enjoyed it but I'm very confused. I thought the Space Corps was long dead.

I think that was the point of the greeny glowy thing (the "quantum rod"), it brought Rimmer and his brother together. So I'm guessing Rimmer's brother was brought into the future.

Plus, when they got the letter renaming red dwarf, it was from a 'main computer', probably from Red Dwarf or that nearby station. All automated.
Ah how could I have forgotten about this!

Ahh holy shit the new episode was awesome!
Loved the moose joke and the fact that they weren't stuck in Jail or stuck with only Starbug
Glad they haven't tried to spice it up with any modern bullshit, just good old Red Dwarf
They did update it with USB sticks and LCD screens :v: .
That was brilliant. I'm so happy this show is back to its old greatness.
It was one of the most important shows of my childhood and it deserves to be good again.
It's about to get cold outside.
Oh man, the second episode was also brilliant. Better than the first overall imo.
Lister talking to himself, and the Chinese whispers parts were very fun. Slight audio issues though, hope they get fixed in the DVD.
Overall not as good as the first episode, but not bad by any means.
But on the flip side one of the funniest red dwarf scenes iv'e ever seen with the whole video tape dad part, literally had me crying with laughter.
Even Kryten looks older, and he's a freaking robot :v:
The next one with Jesus in looks cool
I'm happy they at least mentioned holly this time. I forget why he isn't there though, anybody care to refresh my memory.
Norman Lovett aka holly, was told to keep his schedule clear for that red dwarf back to earth let down a few years back, but when they filmed the series they left him out of it, as a result Norm told them he would not film anything related to Red dwarf again.

Holly the character not Norman Lovett.

Lister left a tap running for nine years, flooded the ship, and took Holly offline.
I'd like to see them bring back female Holly. She wasn't quite as good as Norman, but she did a great impression of him.
I quite liked Hattie Hayridge, she was a great Holly.
I'm really enjoying the new series. It's as good as classic Red Dwarf in my opinion. Good jokes, low budget so no over the top effects getting in the way of the story, great performances by all.
"Coming up: An episode about Jesus!" Oh God I thought. "It's ok, there is always 1 bad episode in a series. I'll accept it and move on"
Thankfully it was awesome. OK, having Jesus was incredibly corny and an overused idea, but the jokes were superb. Top form.
Get your JC bags.
I loved that, and I didn't read what it was about so the [sp]"Jesus!" "Yes?"[/sp] part completely slew me.

To be honest if they even deviated from it even slightly (for example the Camera style) then it just would never be Red Dwarf. So far, so good, all they need now is for Norman to sign back on (though the chances of that are nil).
This is shaping up to be a great season.
There's only one more episode now isn't there?
Series X has 6 episodes, so we're half way through.

That's the main problem I have with this series, seasons 7 and 8 had 8 episodes. I really wish Norman would come back.
Ratings Round-Up
Episode 1: 1.46m
Episode 2: 1.1m
Episode 3: 1.16m
All fantastic news for Dave - with Dwarf reaffirming it's place as UKTV's most watched show of all time.
It's claiming the number 1 or 2 spot over every digital channel so far. Super happy.
funny how those numbers get other shows to be canceled in the US.
