Why don't you just get out of the thread?
You obviously don't care for the subject.
ok, so i JUST started doing this today. Today I climbed:
on the roof of my house
on to our deck.
the deck was harder to get to, the roof was pretty simple, I ran up to the fence, did a muscle-up to get on top of it, walked across the top of it and jumped from there to a shed, using the arm-up or w/e it's called, then from there did another muscle up onto the roof of our house (PS it's an awesome view, it's like 3 stories up)
The deck was a bit trickier, it was all about muscle ups.
here's a reference picture while I explain:

I started out by running up and jumping off of support 1 and grabbed onto support 2. Then I did a muscle up and had to grab onto the railing to keep people from falling off (number 3), then i had to pull myself up with just my arms and go over the railing, success! I just went up like 18 feet. Then i realized the door was locked leading to the second floor of our house and so i had to go back down the same way.
Now my arms hurt cause i suck at this.
I also jumped off the end of the roof of our house, it hurt quite a bit, need to work on landing, i was scared to jump the first time, but then i was like "fuck you mind" and i just jumped. Scared me shitless (not really though) scraped my hand on the pavement below because i didn't have gloves. I then measured how high i jumped from and it was 12 feet. all in all i'm pretty proud of myself.
That's not Parkour there (barring 3), that's climbing.
Though congrats either way. Now go exercise some more.

Goodbye cellphone!
I wonder if he found it...
Not bothering quoting everyone but...
Whoever said you shouldn't really use gloves is right. You should let your palms get tougher, and over time, calluses develop and you don't need gloves.
Arm leap (or whatever) is also (mainly) known as the Cat Leap, and finally...
It doesn't matter how high you can jump from. Don't compare and compete with other people, that's not what it's about. But if you must know, even the professionals say not to attempt 20 foot (you get the point) drops too often, they'll destroy you over time. You'll feel it in your knees.
Be safe, 'n wish me luck with getting the parkour club started at my school.
:D
Actually, friendly competitions and races aren't that bad really, they make sure you don't do it alone and they help you get better...

Theres a wall-run included, it's obviously parkour, don't act like theres any right way to do parkour regardless, it doesn't have rules.
The whole point of Parkour is to look fancy.
You could say "why draw paintings when you can take photographs?"
or
"the fuck are snowboards for you can simply take a bus downhill what the fuck"
uh no it's not
the point of parkour is to get from one place to another efficiently on foot
freerunning is to look fancy

Except parkour is a french word, and thus unbearably fancy and pretentious. OP calling it an art doesn't help, either.

I gave you an agree!
By default if you name something french it's to sound fancy
great read, will be keeping an eye on this.
I love parkour!
Unfortunately I fucked up one of my knees so I've been out of commission for a while.
Nice thread.
I can't land right <_<
You're suppossed to land with your knees at an angle close to 90 degrees, I try to set up my legs to land like that, but my knees just end up bending all the way. I did manage to get good at going from hanging from a branch, than kicking off a tree so I would land away from the crap that was beneath me. Pretty cool I guess <_<
I love Parkour. Unfortunately, I haven't been doing it lately because it's winter here and my Reynaud's makes it kind of difficult to co-ordinate/grip.
I tried this and i failed miserably
I want to try this. I can jump a 4 foot fence without touching it so that's a start.

I can't do that. In fact, that sounds a little creepy <_<
My new shoes pretty much allow me to stick to the wall for 3 seconds, simply amazing :D.

Practice. It's the only way to get better.
I need to try this. Now.
I'd probably need to hit the gym for 8 weeks before I could try even the most basic stuff, but that doesn't stop me from wanting a pair of red xuvias.

Buy those trainers, become Faith.

Yes I consider my jumping above average, that's why I'd like to try this.

You should, vaults and shit would be easy for you. other stuff might still be tough though <_<

Dayum.
Those things rock.
When vaulting, I can get my legs up to about 5 feet, and I can clear a 3.5 foot thing with ease.
4 foot starts to get sketchy when just jumping.

I live in urban Philadelphia too, so that would make it interesting.
A+ thread would read again.
Thought I was fucked the first time I saw one of these threads because I live in a fairly small town and you only really see videos of people doing shit in urban areas. Guess I'll be hitting up the local playground soon.
Oh and why the fuck isn't this shit in more action movies, it's so insane.
