My U-FLY steadicam came today, pretty nifty, can't wait to use it.
Hey guys! Yes I'm a newb to the forums. But enough of that, here's some of my stuff that I shot as a hobby. The first one is a little rough-cut edit of a showcase about my pc build that I did recently. 7D with sigma 50 1.4 in either 30p or 24p 1080, can't remember which. Shot handheld. so it's shaky. No rigs or anything like that yet. You guys probabbly wouldn't like this unless your a teen. It's a video I shot for a few old friends that I know from a long time ago. 5D mark II 30p and Sigma 50 1.4. This lens is beast on the 5D II, no color correction and auto white balance. ISO's were around 600-1200
Do VFX videos count in this thread? I'm an animation student working on my degree film. It's about a time traveller! This is an effect I'm working on for when his laboratory disintegrates as he leaves the present time. Next plan is to try it with a camera move, then apply the textures. i'm making a terrible black and white short film that's pretty much a collaboration of different things moving whilst in black in white shot at f1.8. it's an "art" film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1hFmFRyoSg so i need more ideas of stupid things to put in, probably going to do cars driving by next. and 360p looks the best because i'm shooting in VGA because the file size gets too large otherwise.

Ahhhh that was a cute video. The filming wasn't that great though. I know it's hard manually focussing a lens in the dark at such apertures but next time try to stick with one shot for a longer time. Get the focus right, film a few seconds then change to a next shot. Now you are just jumping with shots and focus between the guy and girl and the people around. I loved the music though but that's because Ellie Goulding is fucking amazing

I had some pretty long shots, but I edited to the music, instead of to the footage, so there are many hard and abrupt cuts like you pointed out. And let's just say, those people didn't exactly wanted to be filmed either. :P the girl in the video wanted me to film it, so I did as she said. But thanks :) and ofc, I'll keep that in mind next time I do something like this.
An amusing fluke... http://www.flickr.com/photos/54409856@N06/6043442653/
Can't wait until i buy my nikon d3100, so i can get into video/filming.
Are you sure, dude? I mean I saw enough photos from you to say that you really have some talent. In my opinion you should put your money into a higher class camera like a Nikon D90 or a Nikon D5100. I think right now you own a D60, don't you ?
I took my D5100 and made this sample video for shits and giggles, 1080p24: Although there are plenty of other sample videos out there, so take a look at those too. The video is pretty solid on the Nikon D5100 however you could probably do better with a T2i/550D or a more expensive Canon camera.
Haven't made a video in a long time, so when I had a free day I made this. Not the best, I like the way the music syncs up more than anything. (read description after you're done)
That's exactly how I had it with SVP, but I can't figure FCP out at all. The layers/tracks seem weird to me, and so does everything else.
I figured out Final Cut in like half an hour after being a Premiere user for almost a year and a WMM user for years before that.

What is with the audio playing on this page? Make it stop.
Embedded Vimeo things autoplay on chome on a mac
Embedded Vimeo things autoplay on chome on a mac
Wow, that's annoying.
Embedded Vimeo things autoplay on chome on a mac
Linux too.
I'm currently working on a short (10 minute) film involving betrayal and wand magic I'm hoping the terrible acting will make it funny, but I'm hoping the top class camera work and special effects will make it decent rather than purely a piss take
Well, I took my new 50mm f1.8 for a test drive and put two halogen work lights in my garage. Here's what I made with my friend Henrik.

i took this not-so-creative video, but i love the way the bokeh looks and i had to audioswap because it was like 30mph wind, and i can't edit AVCHD video with premiere CS3
I don't think I posted this here before: It's the intro for the film I'm working on It's gonna fade into the first shot ofc, not just cut off
that looks awesome! you are getting some really good quality out of that 3100 i'm impressed
that looks awesome! you are getting some really good quality out of that 3100 i'm impressed
Thanks a lot
Here's a video I shot in 20 minutes with B-hazard. He's hammering a nail into a tree with his Zenit. [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQm--kay6ss[/hd] I messed up the export. There's no sound and the ratio's fucked up.
how do you two know each other
damn bhazard is attractive
how do you two know each other
I do believe that BHaz is on holiday in Estonia
I do photography, so this is my first attempt at a video. Let me know what you think! Thanks
Glad you could make it over here, man. It has its moments where there's a good feel of movement to the beat of the music, but honestly I think you'd need something heavier, given the way people were moving and dancing (except at the beginning, it was rather light with one or two bouncing dancers in an unmoving crowd). I understand if you had limited amounts of footage to work with, but I'd probably have cut the time of the song short (or find a shorter song) just so you could pack more of the good stuff together and lose the loose ends, swap scenes to the beat more often, and overall just kick it up a notch. I know the festival had some crazy moments, I'd like to get a feel of that out of the video rather than experiencing a bit of that early show lull. 0:46 to 1:15, I loved the per-measure cuts, gave the feeling of lots of energy building and motion happening. That's what I'd like to see more of out of the whole thing 1:20, much, much more of that. 1:40 is that what I think it is bouncing in the crowd?
