I've talked to my ISP about the IPv4 issue, they said
:eng99:
Wow, thats horrible.
its the end of the world as we know it
I feel fine.
I feel fine.
You are going to die.
I feel fine.
It's the end of IP version 4
And I'm still fine.
Aw, crap. My ages-old WRT54G (1.1?) only supports IPv4, i don't want to install a 3rd-party firmware (God knows what will happen if i fuck up - my network infrastructure is already held together with chewing gum, 6-year old routers and depleted fairy dust, plus i'm not the one who handled setup initially) and i don't have a newer router on hand.
cant wait for ipv8
I wonder if there will be firmware updates for recent hardware.
This better be a smooth transition.

Well according to wikipedia "I suspect we are actually beyond a reasonable time frame where there won't be some disruption. Now it's more a question of how much."
We're doomed.

Excuse me for offtopic, but how the hell did this guy get a gif avatar?
Also, talked with my ISP again, they told me that there'll be IPv6, but only in corporate licensing.
I'm unsure what this will actually cause for IPv4 users, will the internet simply shut down on them or something until their ISPs [sp]have converted to[/sp] IPv6 or something else.
So what happens when it runs out? Do I have to do anything?

Sorry that post was so hilarious I'm just going to ask again.
What happens when they run out and do I gotta do anything?

No. You should be safe for awhile anyways. IP companies are just buying those now for the future. Eventually you'll probably be updated by your ISP or a workaround will come out to get onto IPV6 sites.
From what I've heard from representatives of Australian ISP's (iiNet and Internode), IPV6 isn't at all marketable until it has a noticeable effect. Ie, there is no reason for anyone to buy IPV6 (mostly because the average user doesn't understand the need for it as yet), and therefore they won't make any money off it until IPV4 is totally exhausted and home users begin to lose access to sites that are starting to solely use ipv6.
That's just me quoting but don't expect a pre-emptive reaction in this case. No demand = no supply, have to wait until its a noticeable effect and demand picks up.
600,000 left.
Goodbye my friends. The new race shall remember us for having foretold the destruction of the internet as we all know it. I don't have much longer in this world but I want everyone to remember me for one of the few who lived through the IPv4 era. I only have a few words of encouragement.
For this day shall not be in vain. We shall advance into the abyss whether it be by our hands or the hands of Egypt. For in the darkness there is always hope. There will be a day when all of our posterity shall speak of a time when IPv4 existed, but that time is not now. Some of us will not survive. Some of us will not go unharmed. But it is by our hands that the keys to the future shall unfold and turn to the light of hope in our darkest hour. It is our darkest hour. An hour where we shall become not v4s but also v6s.

Oh cool I have an ip6 address as well.
How the fuck can i get IPv6? i did "Runs CMD, types "ipconfig" checks for IPV6" and there was no IPv6.
Someone?
Am i fucked?
My friend told me that i have IPv6. Later he will come over and show me. He told me i am retarded.
Why is it impossible to just use numbers beyond 255 in IPv4?
Because each number is 8 bits, aka an octet.
It would appear I have IPv6 too. Seeing as I don't really know shit about this I'm assuming that's a good thing.
EET'Z NOT FAIR...
VE HAD TVICE, ZHE FLAVOUR!
So basically our ISPs will (for free) update us all to IPv6 eventually?
