Its on 0. Wow.
-snip late-
Well my school is fucked? Just checked there will need to be some updates to this network I'm thinking. I know one of the dudes that manages the network he's really lazy so until it stops working we'll be on v4.
wow zero
Phwooooosshhhhhhh
We're not out of IPs yet, just all IP address blocks have been assigned to the *nic groups around the world. There's still plenty of IPs out there if you were going to start an internet business in the next 6 months. After that, well, we're out...
Why did the clock go back to 6 weeks ?
yay we are out [editline]3rd February 2011[/editline] just kidding it says 6 days now we must've made more! b
Why did the clock go back to 6 weeks ?
Weird, maybe it's 6 days until the *nics have allocated all the /24s, but I doubt it. [editline]4th February 2011[/editline] Again, we've still go IPv4 IPs lol
According to the official app, we have less than 1 million /24s left, so I doubt that means 6 days until that goes.
According to the official app, we have less than 1 million /24s left, so I doubt that means 6 days until that goes.
We have over 1 million /24s left, but they won't go nearly as quickly as the /8s, as they have no reason to allocate them until a company needs to purchase them.
To quote our network admins in my uni, "oh, yeah, the IP pool is running out! Shocking. Thank fuck we have about 30,000 we're not using. Yeah, we have a couple years left" :v:
Why did the clock go back to 6 weeks ?
i dunno but that clock looks cool as fuck so im content to watch it for 6 weeks
So what happens when we hit zero? Does the internet go kaput for those of us still on IPv4?
i want a bitchin clock like that
I think we can all agree that the clock is indeed very bitchin.
The number of allocatable IPv4s just dropped to zero. #IPv6 1 minute ago via web Woop.
oh god.. look outside the sun just exploded it IS the end of the world rip IPv4
Bring in SUNv6
Are we dead yet?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Are we dead yet?
Yeah this is all in your head. Which promptly exploded 5 minutes ago
The only thing I can see bad about IPv6 is that it will take more cycles for a router to process, Not many more but a ipv4 address which is 32 bits can be processed in 1 cycle by a 64bit processor whereas ipv6 is quite a few more. Now this isn't noticeable on a small network but in a very large network it may be noticeable. (ALSO SUBNETTING, FUCK.) Other than this ipv6 is the way to go, it's amazing.
Ipv4 was so simple to understand ... 8 bit intervals instead of ... a bunch of hexadecimal stuff
All gameservers will have their own domain woo

I'm IPv6 ready :smug:
They are going to loose customers if they don't and the competition does.
