Some of us expect to have short lives anyway.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck it's the sigma lambda and xenocide bot trollspree 2011 [editline]12th January 2011[/editline] also just invent a memory foam thing that covers your teeth you can fucking brush your teeth with dr pepper then swish around some mountain dew if you want
I have to admit, I drink far too much soda myself. Thinking about completely changing my diet though, so soon it won't be such a big problem.
I drink mostly flavored water anyway, only occasionally having a Pepsi every now and then. Soda isn't really that much of a problem as long as you aren't chugging 12 cans a week.
:smug: I drink about 20 over 8-9 days
There's a lady that comes into the store I work at and buys lots of pop. She said, "I get depressed if I don't drink the stuff" She's nice so I didn't have the gall to suggest she stop drinking it...
I've tried stopping sweet I'm addicted
Are there other drinks besides soda? This is new to me... I just drink my soda all day long, and that's all I need. Besides, without it I become a crazed lunatic after a couple hours of withdrawl. [editline]12th January 2011[/editline]
Yeah, well I'd rather live longer. By that logic, we should kill who we want cause we don't like them, and well, we are all gonna die anyways, may as well speed things up for those we detest.
I don't know where that all came from, but I am totally down for this idea.

Everyones going to die someday, might as well do whatever the fuck you want, and as far as we know, you only live one time. Soda tastes fucking awesome, except for diet soda, fuck that shit.
It came from that. He is saying we might as well do whatever we want, and everyone is going to die someday. So, by that logic, if I wanted to, I could kill someone, because I wanted to. But it's even more okay because we all will die one day. Yeah, it is quite an exaggeration, but what I failed to get at is people as a whole shouldn't ignore the problems caused by too much sugar, in pop and otherwise. I really don't know why I typed that, I even see that it is hardly relevant to the thread, it was just taking the logic.

I'm starting to think you're just trolling.

This doesn't harm any-one besides themselves, yet you seem mighty fine up on your high horse, telling them that it's not how they should be leading their lives. I'm certain if you see someone smoking you give them a 25 page essay on how it's bad for them, then chuck in the old "Oh btw, you're murdering your family with cancer" speech. I share your views, but just outright being a douche and shoving it down people's throats is a bad way to go about your business.

Yeah, I was being brash, but that is because I am disgusted by how many people are defending pop. Of course, that is my opinion, but it is fact that having pop as often as much of these people are is unhealthy, yet they defend it. It is their choice, their body, their life though, so I guess I don't have much right shoving my way of life down their throats, but they should know the consequences of their habits. As for the smoking thing, if the smokers were killing/hurting themselves, it would be the same thing, but they aren't. They are (possibly) killing/hurting their family, and wrecking our environment which affects everyone. I don't think anyone should derail this thread with that though.
I was drinking soda when I entered this thread.
No soda this year.. 12 days sober New Years Resolution <3
It's a good thing that I hate soda, mostly :smug:
.. you lose.
Just anecdotal and not scientific, but I drink 2 or 3 cans of energy drink a day, the only other drinks I have are bottled water and the occasional glass of wine when it's a special occasion. Recently my two front teeth had to be partly resurfaced with bonding material because the enamel had worn so much. I only started drinking Red Bull in 2005 and whilst older people like myself may have lost enamel through the years from wear and tear, there was a noticeable sudden loss after about 4 years of Red Bull. I drink the sugar free one, my dentist says it's the acid in carbonated drinks that causes the erosion. I still drink it but probably shouldn't.

It rots your teeth. And makes them more sensitive. Why? Soda has the same pH level as Vinegar, 2.5. pH level measures acidity. Dr. Elson Haas, famous health author, says “Tooth loss, periodontal disease, and gingivitis can be problems, especially with a high phosphorus intake, particularly from soft drinks.” It also dissolves enamel.

Caffeine is addicting and has really bad withdrawal symptoms. Tests at John Hopkins university found that people suffering from withdrawal had not only headache, but also fatigue, mild depression, muscle pain and stiffness, flu-like feelings, nausea and vomiting.

apple and orange juice have about same ph-level but I don't see anybody else compaining yeah caffeine is addicting and has bad withdrawal symptoms, but so do daily exercise and wanking
how about i slap your shit
All of this is per person opinion shit. 'I haven't broken a bone in my life', you won't break a bone if you fucking sit cooped up in your room.
you can break bones even if you are healthy or unhealthy. While osteoporosis does increase the risk, the amount caused by soda is minimal and it's way more likely to get osteoporosis for not drinking enough milk. Take D-vitamin supplements if you can't drink milk. You won't break your bones if you don't take too many risks. If you do, you will break them eventually, unrelated to your status of healthiness (unless you really have osteoporosis or osteogenesis imperfecta. It's that disease where your bones fracture easily etc.)
Moderate what you do, and you'll be fine. Hell... I heard that some studdies/research contained evidence that caffine apparently helps stop you from having heart attacks.
My uncle died and he drank soda :smith: it was either that or the gunshot wound to the head

If you stay away from soda for a while, you probably won't miss it. Candy, on the other hand...
I actually dislike soda. I mean I do drink it, but very rarely. I prefer water over all. Lucky me, my favorite drink is free!
ITT 12 year olds blindly defending their favorite drink and calling me stupid
You're telling them to stop drinking something that they enjoy. Sure there are side-effects, but you've way overblown them and now they've told you that your view of "NEVER DRINK SOFT DRINKS" is not for everyone (or in this case, most) you have started to defend yourself with silly arguments, calling people 12. Obviously you tried to inform people of the bad effects and to help them with a good idea in mind, you executed it in a way that seemed like you were trying to force them to change their lifestyle. Although I doubt you were trying to impose it, but you should be careful how you word things like this in future.
It would be a lot easier to get off soda if juice didnt contain practically the same amount of sugar as soda does. Unless you get that crazy organic shit that tastes like ass. Guess its only water for me.
What if you drink 6 glasses of milk and only 3 sodas a day....do they cancel each other out?
Prove it. Also, if this is true, explain why it's rare for me to get anything worse than a stuffed nose.
It's common knowledge that ingesting simple sugars quickly lowers the immune system. [editline]13th January 2011[/editline]
I drink the sugar free one, my dentist says it's the acid in carbonated drinks that causes the erosion. I still drink it but probably shouldn't.
And he's right. I think it forms carbonic acid - a weak acid, but it'll do damage over time.
