I've almost completely stopped eating sugary foods and drinks as a new year's resolution. I can say that I already feel a big different. I feel more naturally energized. I decided to have something with lots of sugar in it today and while it was good and sweet, I didn't get a relieving effect. It would have made no difference to eat watermelon or such.
a several-soda-a-day habit, like many people in this thread have, will cause some significant degree of insulin resistance regardless of a person's physical activity level, yes. Don't reduce it down to "IF I DRINK A COKE I DIE, THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE SAYING", that's a childish way to argue.
dude, several sodas a day is definitely not good. i thought most people drank at most 1-2 a day, and even then that's a good amount.
i pretty much always drink water all the time anyways

Uh, do you mean, "even then that's not a good amount."?
Because one a day is still pretty bad. Heck, one pop a year is "bad" for your body, but it is the consistency of which you drink that causes the most damage to your health. Your body will recover no problem from a pop once in a while.
I hope you prefer cancer as well
Yeah, and don't think that diet "insert brand of pop here" is any better. -Snip, given bad info-
i like soda
Parents stopped buying cola so I had no choice. Now I get to drink either tap water, sweet tea, or milk.
The best investment I ever made for my health was buying a water cooler, as it keeps a lot of water cold without the hassle of a cooler or bottled water etc. Anyways I never drank juice or soda or any sugared drinks except when at parties or at restaurants that don't serve water (fast food joints, mainly) and lost about 30 pounds in just 1 year.
What restaurant doesn't serve water?
I hope you prefer cancer as well
I hope you actually research the bullshit you spout. You most likely are referrring to the highly sensationalized "aspertame" ingredient of Diet Soda:
"Available evidence suggests that consumption of aspartame by normal humans is safe and is not associated with serious adverse health effects."- Journal of the American Medical Association
"Evidence does not support links between aspartame and cancer, hair loss, depression, dementia, behavioural disturbances, or any of the other conditions appearing in websites."- BMJ Editorial
"Is aspartame considered to be safe? Yes. Aspartame is the most studied sweetener on the market. Because aspartame breaks down during digestion into ordinary food components and because it accounts for only a small proportion of the total intake of these components, it is not plausible that aspartame could cause adverse health effects."- UOM Research (College)
If you wish to study the studies conducted, you are free to go to the actual sources and look up their individual studies.
Yeah, and don't think that diet "insert brand of pop here" is any better. Unless you want dementia and other similar disabilities in the future.
Dementia?
Who ever conclusively proved that?
I have a fructose allergy so every soda that isn't made with real sugar makes me horribly constipated :(
Ill never stop drinking root beer!
I switched over to coffee and energy drinks all the time
good thing op was here to warn me, that soda could've given me cancer or something
Dementia?

You know what, I was told wrong information. I guess I can't trust my friends. It hasn't been proven to cause dementia, my apologies.
HA ha h a no I got my Monster right now. Not happening.
SO ADDICTED HELP ME!
D-drugs are bad M'kay!
I love coke and dr pepper too much to give them up. I am trying to lose weight though so I might try drinking some more tea.
Don't think so.
It's tasty, but I've been cutting it for a week now. Started Monday. Been drinking Hot Chocolate and Tea instead and I like the switch.
I'm gonna miss Vanilla Coke though.
No way in hell will I stop drinking soda.
Of course I drink water in lets say late night, mid day. But when I just want to relax I find a soda much more appealing than a tasteless cup of Dihydrogen Monoxide.

Real sugar is fructose, glucose or sucrose.

So did I.
Terrible post, makes on sense. Having an internet debate is hardly fucking up society.
Sometimes I drink 3 or 4 cans a day
Solution to milk: Whole milk. It is way better. At least try it before you disagree.
reminds me of a few days ago when i bought a monster energy drink
couldn't stand that piece of shit, as if they got a normal energy drink and doubled the sugar
reminds me of a few days ago when i bought a monster energy drink

Normal energy drinks don't have an awful lot of sugar (Specifically glucose, I've not tested for other types of sugar)
My experiment showed <1% glucose in red bull, while various sports drinks had between 2% and 3%.
After some research, it seems most energy drinks have a product from the breakdown of glucose, and a hell of a lot of sucrose - explaining why only a little glucose showed in the experiment.

Not a fan of Monster.
Amp is superior.
So are energy drinks, and they're twice as worse as soda.

and soda is fucking delicious, get out
are you english?
I tend to add something highly alcoholic in sodas that I drink. Right now, I mixed rakia with cherry coke.
