Is it as good as I've been hearing?
It's supposed to be proper scary, but then again the only people i've talked to who've watched it are girls.

Hm, I thought it didn't work.
Oh well.
Also I have a job now and I will be starting sometime soon
Got the next installment done. This one skips forward about 5 months after the previous installment, and marks the beginning of a big adventure across the void of reality.

Congratulations.
Here goes it.
Once again, the chill of winter settled over the city of Paris. Snow fell from the December skies onto the apartment buildings and busy streets like powdered sugar across the surface of a pastry. Despite the apparent lack of energy in the cold snow, seeing such a snowy sight warmed Beverly's heart. In this world she now lived in, there was little pollution to hamper the formation of the winter snows, as most power-generation was either dark fusion, or renewable sources such as light or wind. With no noxious gases being belched into the atmosphere, the world was much cleaner, much cooler, and overall much safer environmentally. She mused over this as she studied the artifacts shipped to the RED Parisian Branch, where the team met up every day of the week to be assigned to their missions and tasks. Sometimes, they were assigned to guarding a research facility, preventing enemy espionage and stealing of corporate intelligence. Other times, they were deployed near enemy facilities, and tasked with "acquiring" them. Yet other times, they had to destroy facilities that were of a certain threatening nature. But today, there had been almost negligible enemy activity at any of RED's facilities, with what little deployments the enemy sent out being easy meat for the regular "rookie" forces, controlled by young teenagers who worked as they slept, on the other side of the world.
For now, there was little need to call in the pros, little need for the sorcery Damien and his teammates usually used in combat. And so the team just hung out around the Parisian Branch, doing the things they usually did when their talents weren't needed. For Beverly, this meant an opportunity to examine the latest flotsam and jetsam that had seeped into their world from other dimensions. She had managed to identify quite a few of the objects, including a copy of what appeared to be a Pendulum album. Back in her universe, Pendulum was quite a good band. In fact, she listened to it for ages when she was studying to become a necromancer. "*sigh* Necromancy...", she thought aloud under her breath. Although it was a powerful magick, it had rather negative repercussions when she rediscovered it in this universe, 5 months ago. Despite her good intentions of raising an undead army, her forces unintentionally drove Adam Freeman, the team's Felan Sniper, insane. Damien heavily berated her for this, and scorned her for many months, even after Erika had repaired the damage done within his mind. But at least something good came out of it: Adam and Erika had developed a deep and profound bond with each other, effectively falling in love. They had been going out for about 5 months, much to the ire of Erika's father, Vincent Vetterlein.
Vince had a strange hatred for Adam, mostly due to his patricidal murdering of Gordon Freeman at the end of the Secret War, but also due to envy. Envy of the capabilities of the Felan species, their frightening adaptability, their superior reflexes. Like many humans, he feared Felans due to their apparent genetic superiority to humans, and that maybe one day, Felans would replace humankind. Due to this, he forbade his daughter to go out with Adam, for fear that he might "corrupt" her. He even went as far as to threaten Adam at gunpoint, forcing Damien to intervene with his debating capabilities. When they failed against Vince's single-minded objectives, Damien was left with little option but to incapacitate him, and threaten him with his dark powers of feeding. Though Vince grudgingly agreed to let them be together, he disowned his daughter, vowing never to have anything to do with her ever again. This caused Damien to lose all respect for the brave warrior that Vincent Vetterlein once was, but was thankful that at least his best friend would have someone to be with. Despite everything, the nights were still as hard as always for him and Adam. Every night, no matter the hour, whilst Damien slept, Chattur'gha would be conscious within his body, filling the apartment with demonic screams and the rattling of the binding chains that kept him bound. Adam had managed to adapt to the horrors that Damien went through, but Erika had not. She was up all night, terrified by the screaming of the Ancient, but was still comforted by her loving partner, Adam, who held her close to protect her from the evils of the night.
Despite intimate reassurances, she was unable to fall asleep, even after Damien had re-awoken, and Chattur'gha was sleeping once again. After that terrible night, Damien agreed to have his room soundproofed, so to lessen the evils that eminated from that room. Beverly felt deeply sorry for his condition, even when he spurned her so viciously after her mistakeful flaunting of power. But even though he found it in his heart to forgive her for her misconduct at the RED Halloween do, she still couldn't look at him the same way. She had now seen both sides of him: the pious superhero sorceror, and the wrathful harbinger of judgement. He was both amazing and terrible, a saviour and a monster, caring and hateful. He seemed such an enigma to all his teammates, but a bit less so to Adam, and slightly less to her. He had come from a similar universe and time period to her own, and thus knew a great deal of popular culture that she also knew of. It was almost as if they were the other side of one another, almost like- "'sup Bev?" Beverly turned around to see Damien standing in the doorway. "How's the 'R&D' going, eh?", he jokingly commented. "Meh, it's ok...", she replied. "Found an old Pendulum album. Some band you've probably never heard o-" "A PENDULUM album?!", he exclaimed, eyes lighting up with joy. "FOOK YEAH, I LOVED that band back home! Let's 'ave a butchers at it, eh?" He picked up the case, and inspected the label. "Ooh, it's In Silico... Any chance you could get the disk to work, belt out some Propane Nightmares?" Beverly's ears perked up at the name of the song. "Huh, i'll do my best!", she declared. "I haven't heard that song in YEARS, it'd be great to hear it again..."
After cleaning the disk, and decoding the archaic olden-time file formats, The Other Side started to play. The two started to go on a nostalgia trip, as the music swelled, and drum & bass beats started to hammer out of the speakers. The song resonated out of the room, and started to echo through the hallways of the facility. It even brought Adam and Erika out of their long kiss, drawing their attention to where the tune was belting out of the speakers. As they turned the corner, they heard a yell of horror and surprise come from the room. They found Damien looking around in panic, as if he had seen a ghost. "Dude, what happened?", Adam asked. "And where's Beverly?" "I dunno!", Damien replied with panic in his voice. "One minute she was looking at some old book, then there was this bright flash of light, and she just vanished! Bev? Beverly?! WHERE ARE YOU?!" It was only then that Erika realised that the book was resonating, with streams of energy arcing across it's pages. "Uh, Damien?", she spoke, pointing at the book. "I think that thing might have the answers..." Walking quickly over to the strange book, Damien investigated it's strange nature. And then, with dawning horror, he realised what it was. This book was a device used by an ancient people from a far-off universe, in a distant past. The events of that universe had coincided with the development of certain point-and-click adventure games, developed by the now-defunct Cyan Worlds.
This ancient race, whom the games referred to as the D'ni, had power over a strange magick of dimensional tunnelling, known to them as the Art. By writing descriptions of certain locations in time and space, investing vast amounts of magickal energy into the book that described it, the writer could forge a magickal item capable of bending spacetime to transport the reader to the location it described. Most of these "Linking Books" led to spawned-off lesser dimensions known as Ages. Damien recognised this specific Linking Book as one that led to an Age known as the Age of Myst, which he knew from the later games to now be dilapidated and defunct, all the machinery broken and rusted, and all other Linking Books once present there long since rotted away. Though he knew that Beverly was now trapped in that Age, he knew that he himself would be trapped if he should follow her, since he himself had no clue about the Art of Writing. His heart started to grow heavy, as he started to realise that she was likely imprisoned there for eternity. A fledgling goddess, now trapped within a lesser dimension, with no chance of escape... "Erm, excuse me...", a voice suddenly echoed. Damien turned around, and saw Ianto Jones, the team's administrator, standing in the doorway. "I need you to come and see this..." Walking outside into the parking lot, Damien was handed a delivery form. Upon signing for it, he beheld an intriguing sight.
There on the snow-coated front lawn, hovering about a foot off of the ground, was a large hovercar, roughly the size of a people carrier. "Did someone deliver this to ME?", Damien queried, bemused at it's presence. "My guess is that it is...", Ianto confirmed. "Hmmm..." Damien trudged over the thick carpet of snow to the car, inspecting it, noting that the driver's seat was on the right-hand side. "Now I know this is meant for me...", he perused. "Who else would deliver a car that requires a British driver?" Clambering in, he noted that it had a vast array of dimensional navigation equipment, as well as a respawn chamber at the back, rather uncharacteristic of a regular hovercar. And that's when it hit him. This hovercar was built for interdimensional travel. With this car, he could find the Age of Myst, and return Beverly to this universe. But he would need help in finding her, as a single person would not be able to succeed alone. "Alright...", he began. "Now here's the situation, people". He started to tell the others about how Beverly had accidentally used a Linking Book, and had now become trapped in the Age of Myst. "I can feed the dimensional co-ordinates into the navigational computer, but i'll need people to help me in finding her, as there is still a chance that some of the Linking Books might still work". Adam knew that this was an important mission, and he would do anything to help his friends. "Well, i'm coming with you, that's for sure", he volunteered. "Same here", Erika added. "I'm not gonna lose you, Adam. If I have to follow you around the universe, so be it".
"...very well", Damien replied. "You two'll join me in finding her. But first, we gotta stock up on food and weapons. I doubt we'll just find her just like that. I gotta feeling this is gonna be a long journey..." After loading their weapons into the trunk, as well as several kilos of beef jerky and flapjacks, Damien took the Linking Book, and scanned it's linking terminus location into the car's computer. With the coordinates set, they were all set to take off. "Well, chaps and chapettes...", Damien began. "It's time to go... We will eventually return with Beverly, no matter how long it takes". Adam and Erika quickly got into the car, ready to travel. "Until that day...", he continued. "Cheerio". And with that, Damien fired up the engines, and activated the dimensional refractor. Reality twisted and distorted around the car, and in a flash of light, it vanished without a trace. Inside the car, a technicolour fog swirled and warped around them, as the car plowed through the dense void of existence beyond the veil of reality. After a short while, the fog fizzled out, and a familiar landscape appeared before Damien's eyes. A small grassy island, surrounded by an endless sea. A couple of trees were present around the island, as well as a large building far to the North, and a dock on the eastern shore, with a shipwreck present just offshore.
"Aye...", Damien remarked with nostalgic reminiscence. "Here be the Age of Myst..."
To be continued...
I didn't think I would like Rush much, but they're awesome
