Well, scientists are the smartest people in the world and if they cant find god then im sure some low class citizen wont find him
I'm not Christian. My name is Joseph, dammit!
I clearly said I'm an agnostic and I'm all for believing in a good religion, even atheism! But this nonsense is just absurd, why do you believe in something when you can't give a good reason for believing in it? Isn't that just being lazy?
hi im a cdh473 and i can read an entire post and NOT REGISTER ANY OF THE SENTENCES OR THE CLAUSES WITHIN THEM OR THE WORDS WITHIN THEM OR THE LETTERS You obviously are opposed to the existance of a religion, you are obviously an athiest, stop fooling yourself kiddo.

It seems that you don't support freedom of religion OP. You only support your own beliefs and everyone else is an idiot.
Also, I don't know which religion is true and which are false, hell, the one true one probably hasn't even been created yet. However, I'm not saying it hasn't, and who knows? Christianity may be right, but until someone can give me a reason to believe in it, then there will be no reason for ME to believe it over all the other religions.
You know theres a thing called Agnostic Atheism.

Then why did you make this thread?

Your entire OP is passive-aggressively (and purely aggressively towards the closing points) attacking religion and its points, that is what a militant Athiest's game. Richard Dawkins would do just that, for example. Picking apart what people believe in and the reasons they do so isn't just not agnostic, it's a douchebag thing to do. I'm sure catholics and christians love to go into fast threads to have some 14-16 year old "Super enlightened" teen shouting rehashed opinions at them at why their system of belief and the god they believe in is a hoax and they are wrong. You're

A

Fucking

Athiest

Get

Over

It

Pal.
I was raised in a Christian home, but I don't know what I believe...
Well, Roman Catholicism is wrong either way. Look at the old times, the vatican was filled with corruption and they would burn people just for their beliefs. In my opinion, that is douchebaggery.
Well, Roman Catholicism is wrong either way. Look at the old times, the vatican was filled with corruption and they would burn people just for their beliefs. reasons to be christian from an atheist: a church is like a family.(kind of like the relationship with a gang) some people find it comforting that there is a meaning to life some see the universe and decide it had to be made by a greater being they have been told to be christian their entire life its the popular thing to do scared into it btw, im not bashing religion
because believing in God is a hell of a lot better than the thought that mankind makes its own decisions. and hey, someone has to represent Christianity in a good way. we are not all crazy, hate-filled nut jobs who claim to be Christian while at the same time viciously attack others. Or retarded Right-wing politicians who use religion for slander and votes. or those who, instead of turn the other cheek, burn Korans and judge people harshly for something they had never committed. no, I'm not out to tell you God hates you. no, i am not out to viciously oppose someone because some asshole on TV said he is a Muslim. and no, i do not have a problem with people who's belief is different to mine.
I believe in god, but I dislike religion
OP, why did you make this thread?
Nope. I totally support everyone who believes in a religion not based upon blind faith, and apparently the majority of you are biased towards atheism. It's fine, but doesn't that seem hypocritical, calling out other people for their totally plausible religions, when you have no other opinion than sticking to what you know? How do you know that there is no god of any kind? The big bang even counts as a form of a creator! Is it not illogical to think that there was no creation and this is just here and always has been? Is it not illogical to believe in any religion over all the rest? I'm not trying to tell you why you shouldn't be a Christian or atheist. I'm trying find out WHY people believe in Christianity other than blind faith. I am sorry that this was unclear, but that's why I said for atheists to stay out until I was done. For this exact reason.
because believing in God is a hell of a lot better than the thought that mankind makes its own decisions.
actually the idea of fate and me not being in control of my life is very frightening to me.
www.evilbible.com I actually find it hard to understand how people can still believe in Christianity despite the overwhelming evidence that it's all bullshit. Starting to think it's just to troll atheists. Edit: Eh, lates are better than boxes.
Personally, I'm not sure whether there's a god or not. I'd like to believe that there's something after death, but it's not like you should treat life as the interlude before death. You should act like it's the only chance you'll ever get, you should be a good person because you want to, not because you'll go to hell if you don't. I'm with atheists on a lot of things. We should expect that we aren't going to get any help from god, so we should stop sitting on our asses and waiting for a miracle. "I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world. " -Richard Dawkins

the main focus of christianity is faith and if you don't have it of course you find it impossible to believe also MintyMginty and cdh473 are perfect examples of people that degrade the reputation of atheists
I don't believe in Jesus. Glory be to the almighty Armok, god of blood and fun.
As if I'm actually going to read a thread before posting bullshit.
Sorry, I'm not an agnostic-atheist. I'm just an agnostic. I'm not dead, so I don't know which religion is right. And I doubt you've died, so why not just join the agnostics? You wouldn't want to be put to shame by investing in a false religion, so why take the chance? If you need to feel there's a god, then you can, just think of him as your deity and don't try to make up some story telling why and how and what. That's the basic logic around my belief, but I accept that others have theirs. This is what I wanted the Christians to say, but for their religion. Just to tell me why they took their beliefs in.
actually the idea of fate and me not being in control of my life is very frightening to me.
what i mean is that it is better to believe in a God then believe that mankind creates its own fate. i mean, we are a pretty violent race if you think about it. everyone is warring over something stupid (which, ironically, is mostly about religion), people kill each other, sadism, hatred, racism, prejudice, we all have strong opinions which we fight over, no one can agree on anything, lies, deceit, slander, etc etc etc. to put it another way, its like the world is controlled by a bunch of console fanboys. i would really rather believe in someone who can steer us in the right direction then have only our self-destructive selves to make the decisions.
If there's an all powerful being who created the universe I have a few bones to pick with him. Forgetting your opinions and views and just letting someone else decide them for you, brilliant!
