Japan has a much larger tradition of adult-oriented animated shows/series. I think you are confusing animated with "for children", and for that reason and others, I don't think you have a very objective or detailed understanding of japanese media. The very fact that you have such a negative opinion about it seems to suggest that you must not partake of much of it. You merely share the commonly held belief that "those japs are crazy horny bastards".
What a load of horse shit. Satoshi Kon was one of the greatest maker of animated movies in all of history. Paranoia Agent is some of the best social commentary I've ever seen. Takeshi Koike is one of the most unique and talented animators alive, and Red Line was ten times the movie that Toy Story 3 was, both in terms of the effort required to create it and the amazing skill with which it was put together. I don't see animation as a "children's medium" in any way. And I definitely have a much higher opinion of the animation industry in Japan than the one here in America, if the pitiful few companies we have can be classified as an "industry".
Robin Hood from 1973 is my favourite Disney movie. It portrays the poor and their sufferings, it's just great. Now their moview portrays kids singing and dancing, having the time of their lives. Sometimes it's an animal or two.
The films they make actually make sense and aren't bullshit pieces of digitalized crap in your face. They have meanings and a good story, not just "Hurr, i think we should go attack someone and then get attacked and all be friends"
I wouldn't say that at all. No Production company doesn't help make vomitous slag. [editline]16th March 2011[/editline]
Robin Hood from 1973 is my favourite Disney movie. The story was bare bones and uninteresting, and the animation and character design? Well- -it was uniform. [editline]16th March 2011[/editline] at least it wasn't as fucking insulting as the aristocats, that pile of fuck
I didn't like Tron Legacy because it just sort of abandoned everything interesting about Tron. I want a retro French comic book artist designed cyber punk interpretation of Roman persecution of the Christians, damnit.
Definitely the original Tron was better, but after a thirty years I just decided to treat them as separate movies. Tron: Legacy was good but it doesn't hold a candle to the original.

Anyways, just because there are great animators/companies that make non-sexualized media, doesn't mean that there isn't great media that is sexualized, or even that the sexualization in japanese media is entirely the result of commercialism. Frankly, I think you are implicitly making a critique of japanese culture of comparatively overt sexual themes (to most other nation's cultures), which I think is unfair because cultures differ, there's nothing wrong with that.

The 3D is dated as hell, which blows because the pieces of animation and matte painting that are in the movie kick fucking ass(grid bugs hell yeah). The thing about it is that it's memorable and has a lot of interesting ideas. The same can't be said for legacy.
I love it when theres some choices, I get annoyed when theres like 1 semi-decent movie out of like 5 on the theatre menu.
I think our difference of opinion can be attributed in part to your more prominent experience of "classic disney". Don't get me wrong, old disney is great in ways that new disney isn't and probably never will be again, but I feel that you are unfairly judging the new stuff merely because it's new; nostalgia.

I'm saying that's what sells the easiest. And so if you wanted simply to make money that's all that anyone would do. My point is that people make movies for reasons other than money. and perfect blue has nudity and rape btw, doesn't mean it's not fucking leagues above black swan

That made it special. Tron: Legacy can't say the same thing cuz... well it's a sequel. So yeah, I see your point, but I thought in the massive shitstorm of movies coming out recently it was at least somewhat good. Head and shoulders over Avatar.

I've only seen those old movies in the last three years. I have more nostalgic feelings for fucking Ocarina of Time. Nice logical fallacy though. Moving on, I can't figure out for the life of me why they're making more Pirate of the Carribean movies. Oh right. Money bags.
i would watch a pirates movie that is just jack sparrow so why do they keep shoving in these other motherfuckers why do they hate my money
Not that they hate your money. It's just that everyone else's is better. I mean um... no, they hate your money. First movie was by far the best. Second and third movie was more like "Pirates Vaguely Related or Otherwise Connected to Other Pirates Who Are, In Fact, Of the Carribean."
I have a hundred and one complaints about Tron Legacy, but the only one I ever care to mention is WHO THE FUCK WOULD DESIGN A PROGRAM TO BE FAY AND AIR GUITAR WITH HIS CANE?!
Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World
Oh my good lord. :sigh:
Seems some people have really high standards when it comes to movies. I was satisfied by Tangled.
Fuck yeah National treasure 3.
Hop Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World
Dude actually do some research before you post something, those two films have nothing to do with Disney.
Here's something to help you remember where to write stuff about Disney: FILMS AND TELEVISION SECTION!!! c/
Tron Legacy actually wasn't all that bad.
I bet cars would be much more interesting if it was centered around a rally car
I bet cars would be much more interesting if it was centered around a rally car
At least a British touring car championship would have something to do with a British spy. Instead we have to satisfy John Lasseter's creepy obsession with Japan.
talgled was a huge pile of horse diarrhea.
Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World
ok the first three spy kids movies were my favorite as a kid but this is too much
Another Spy Kids? Fuck yea. loved this series
Another Spy Kids? Fuck yea. loved this series
of course the one with the pokemon avatar is the one open to the idea of another bland, annoying, vapid sequel
of course the one with the pokemon avatar is the one open to the idea of another bland, annoying, vapid sequel
Oh just get out. No-one sane cares about your asinine opinions about disney, and no-one ever will.
