Celebrities wear makeup. They have millions of people watching them. I'm just some average guy, I'm not going to wear makeup so I look perfect
And why not? You can, there is nothing stopping you from doing so, and nobody will even know unless you point it out, so why? Because some people think it's strange? Can you give me any real reason other than 'some people will find it strange'? Why not try to look your best? You get your hair cut, you might use gel or hairspray, you shave, you trim your eyebrows when they get too bushy. You might tan, or use tooth whitening or braces. Why not makeup?
how about "the average dude doesn't want to spend 20 minutes meticulously applying make-up on top of the daily routine of showering and getting ready"
20 minutes? Maybe if you're applying some extravagently detailed goth makeup. Men's makeup is as easy as applying face lotion and rubbing blemishes with a finger dipped in skin-tinted acne medication. It doesn't take more than 1 minute unless you've got something wrong with your arms. If you've ever used face creams or acne treatments, you know how to use men-style makeup.
Yes being bullied by sheepsters really makes me a bad poster.
oh wow, are you serious?
oh wow, are you serious?
It sure made me feel like trash. I was contemplating suicide again, thank you so much you kind compassionate person you.
how about "the average dude doesn't want to spend 20 minutes meticulously applying make-up on top of the daily routine of showering and getting ready"
I spend less than 5 minutes from when i wake up to when I'm sitting in my car. Fuck spending shitloads of time and money on looking "purrdeh" when I can just sleep in my warm bed instead.
edit: man I can't wait for the Pi to release
You are FAR from the only one
So some times I have these spots on my skin that are really dry... oh wait this is a thread about a small computer and not beauty products?
Blame TehWhale for derailing it into a face product debate.
Blame TehWhale for derailing it into a face product debate.
I'd rather blame you for being a sub-par poster. Because at-least that's pretty much true.
Do you really think Quake 3 looks anywhere near as detailed as any of those games listed? If you are, you're clearly blinded by nostalgia.
Technically speaking those games are not really any more complex than Quake 3. I think you've just been fooled by fancy cinematics and animation, niether of which are the result of superior processing power.
So how long (roughly) until they start shipping out units? 2-3 weeks from the manufacture date?
so this thing needs a constant voltage (5, right) if it's too much, will it fry? I heard it has overflow protection or something and that simply plugging it into the wall with micro-usb will do fine but i'd like to give it a battery pack once I buy it (sorry if I'm horrendously unskilled at this, i'm used to the average computer)
Does anyone think this would work well as a cheaper alternative to Roku?
Does anyone think this would work well as a cheaper alternative to Roku?
What could we run for an OS though? Ubuntu TV seems alittle too beefy. [editline]14th January 2012[/editline] I may be misunderstanding what Roku really is, just assumed it was something like GoogleTV

But depending on how much you're gonna hook up to it, you'd need a circuit that can supply plenty of amperage. Personally I see 1 Ampere as a minimum for a bare-bone circuit with only a SD-card and optionally USB memory stick
What could we run for an OS though? [editline]14th January 2012[/editline] I may be misunderstanding what Roku really is, just assumed it was something like GoogleTV
AFAIK the XBMC team are planning to port their media center software to it. And even though it's a little bit sluggish in the menu, it plays HD video's at a smooth framerate.

But it feels like they charge quite a bit more for what they have.
would it be possible to upgrade any of the parts in this. for instance more RAM better GPU or would it be like trying to put a new GPU in a laptop [sp]Forgive me, I know very little about upgrading computers[/sp]
would it be possible to upgrade any of the parts in this. for instance more RAM better GPU
nope
Nobody is going to be impressed by Quake 3 when the original PSP had better looking games.
Remember the HDMI connector? You can plug your unimpressive handheld to a TV and watch your friend choke in drool as you play Q3 on glorious 1080p
I can take or leave Q3, but if it can play the first two along with the first two DooM games, I'll be ecstatic.
Pretty much any big-name exclusive. Rendering resolution is not relevant to the game's detail. Crysis at 320x240 would look better than quake 3. Some off top of my head.. - the tomb raider games - Daxter - Ridge Racer - soul caliber and tekken - the metal gear solid game - the final fantasy games - motorstorm - god of war Also this It's actually 60fps but the video's only 30.
do you honestly think that game looks better than Q3? lmao, also if the R Pi were playing games at such a small res, it could run something far more detailed than that, the Cube engine games, if they're compiled for ARM, would look much better. [editline]14th January 2012[/editline] I'm going to put mine in either a mouse or KB, and we should all play quake 3 together when we have one.
I really really, REALLY want to make a laptop with some of these I am no hardware guru, though - would it be possible to get standard wi-fi internet on one of these? If not, I probably wont bother.
I really really, REALLY want to make a laptop with some of these I am no hardware guru, though - would it be possible to get standard wi-fi internet on one of these? If not, I probably wont bother.
Pretty sure that's the only way to get internet on the Model A.
Could I run windows 98/95 on this? It would run as a sweet game station that way.
Could I run windows 98/95 on this? It would run as a sweet game station that way.
no
Could I run windows 98/95 on this? It would run as a sweet game station that way.
I dunno, but windows CE should run on it.
Does anybody remember that supercomputer the american military made by just wiring up a bunch of PS3's? Would a similar connection be plausible to do with R-Pi?
Does anybody remember that supercomputer the american military made by just wiring up a bunch of PS3's? Would a similar connection be plausible to do with R-Pi?
Better question, would it be worth it?
Better question, would it be worth it?
Yeah, you could buy a mid range desktop that would be many times faster than a thousand of these clustered together.
Holy crap, I need one. Put it in a case with a USB hub attached to it, install a bunch of emulators on it and bam, you have the ideal miniconsole. I could even put it in my broken NES if I wanted to be stupid. Heck, it would fit in a broken NES cart!
