Its still faster then a 100Mhz 486
Its still faster then a 100Mhz 486
You're being denser than a brick right now.
FYI an iPhone 4's A4 chip is a Cortex-A8 based core, which is incomparably faster than ARM11. Even so, it only performs at the speed of a 166mhz P2 or so. Even if the ARM11 in the RPi it is faster than a 100mhx 486, it won't be too much.
Intel 486 @ 100Mhz is about 60-70 MIPS Raspberry Pi 666? MIPS Linpack gets 2.8 MFlops No idea what the 486 gets.

Either way, even if you are right, whoop-di-do. Its faster than a processor from 20 years ago. What we do know for a fact this thing is not going to be anywhere near the performance of most modern Android phones.
Exactly, its cheap for a reason.
my uncle has a samsung laptop that runs chrome os
That's nice. [editline]17th January 2012[/editline] I want to set this up for my tv. But can it stream Netflix?
I don't know, a lot of places i've read from lately have compared its performance to that of a Pentium II. I'm just going to wait until I get my hands on mine before judging its performance.
I plan to tear apart an old DS Lite, buy one of these to change it to GPIO, build a little wooden case and have a cool mini computer for web browsing and playing simple games.

The breakout board supports GPIO, which the raspberry pi has several of. I believe you will still need to program it though.

If you're stupid just get a cheap LCD from China, a driver board that supports HDMI or Composite if you're cheap.
Is there anyway to use a PSP screen for the Pi? I have pretty much no training or experience in electronics, but now's as good a time as any to learn.
If you're stupid just get a cheap LCD from China, a driver board that supports HDMI or Composite if you're cheap.
Well apparently I'm stupid. Alrighty then, that works
This would be interesting, coupled with that new screen contact lens display
I guess you could get one of these, use HDMI and connect it to the Raspberry Pi. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/VGA-HDMI-AV-contorller-board-7-8inch-tft-lcd-driver-board-VS-2688-N2-/220849447584?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336ba722a0#ht_4240wt_1019 Then get a small LCD?
I regret to inform that all this electricity stuff is way over my head for the time being. I'll have to see if there's any courses available for this kind of stuff.
I like those driver boards. How do they connect to the Ras Pi? EDIT: I figured it out dederpderp
I like those driver boards. How do they connect to the Ras Pi?
By the looks of it, you connect it to the HDMI port directly

That's exactly what was posted before, except a LCD panel is included this time
That is pretty expensive you might wanna go with something cheaper.
I would think you could use a gps screen that has AV.
I wasn't looking at this item specifically, but rather a setup like it. I should be able to find a LCD somewhere else cheaper, and just buy the driver board. In order to use that touch screen you would also need to buy their adapter. I really have no idea what I am doing. :/ GPS screens are a good idea, but aren't those fairly low res?
Composite is standard 4:3 TV res.
Here's a good one with audio and video. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-4-3-Inch-LCD-TFT-Monitor-Car-Backup-camera-/180785986682?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a17af3c7a#ht_3133wt_1396
That is nice, and for a good price. The other setup is rather spendy...
-misinterpretation-
Uh how?
$93 for HDMI/DVI Display unit. [editline]17th January 2012[/editline] I think that car backup thing would work, since it connects with composite. $20 is a good find.
