$92 for the screen, controller board and touch screen. You then might want the USB converter for the touch screen, so another $11 there. The Ras Pi is 35$ and then you have input and power as well.
Admittedly, I am rather tired right now and cannot think clearly worth a damn
I just won't post for a while.
I think the price outweighs quality on that $25 TFT screen with AV in.
Get that thing,

That and

This, then you have a touch panel for $38?

Do you have any idea how you will get the touch screen digitizer to work with that screen?
Do you have any idea how you will get the touch screen digitizer to work with that screen?
just plug it in it looks like, worst case scenario write a simple driver for it

configure it with X.

There are already drivers for it.
Worst case scenario have to compile a kernel module which is not hard.

eGalex Touch screen drivers should work with it, make and load it on the ARM system and you're good to go.

key word is should, but you really never know with this sort of thing.
Now we have to worry about is power. I have an idea for batteries that people use to power Nintendo 64 portables but we might need to wait for the Raspberry release to know whats the lowest voltage it can run on.

5v and at least 1 amphere as far as I can tell.
Standard USB voltage 5v.
That display seems to use 12V.

Very nice. So with we can have the Raspberry plugged into that along with the monitor's power cord, right?

Quick google search reveals some Russian guy testing it with a multimeter, it outputs the necessary voltages needed.

Audio? Just use earbuds.

Oh doy I never thought about that. Also I can see this little computer being able to emulate a lot of consoles. Based off the fact that there is a large community behind it and that there are mobile devices have been able to emulate games as high as the n64 and have lesser specs than this computer.
A good friend of mine just showed me this, I'm planning on gutting one of 4 DS's lying around here for a screen, buying one of these, and have him help me set something up, I've wanted to get into computer building for a while, but I don't exactly have much spare cash.
Don't worry, I've got spare keyboards and mice around here, and the mini USB power cord is the same kind my little MP3 player uses, I just want to know, Ive got links to the beginners guide, and I'm going to go through the available OS's for this thing, see if I can make up my mind ASAP, and hopefully iron it out from there, is there anything major I'm missing?
I just can't wait to see all of the people coming back here with pictures of gutted gameboys and whatnot, not being able to do jackshit with them.
If they are not all talk that is.
Exactly, its cheap for a reason.
It's not exactly cheap considering android phones have a plethora of hardware components like a WLAN chip, touchscreen chips, GPS, GSM antenna, the screen itself, the battery, and pretty much everything else.
You're right, the RPi is cheao for a reason. It's a barebones embedded system for educational and research purposes, and it's useless as a brick for anything else.
Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh, but people in this thread are expecting too much from the raspberry pi.
It's also late, I should sleep.

Its pretty nice for a portable, consumes less power then a hard drive.
Good for a microserver.
I need to buy like 20 of these and set up the cheapest LAN party of all time. Maybe network them to a single (obviously more powerful) PC and put all the video output on one screen for a massive split-screen ordeal, if that's even possible (which I doubt it is).

This computer is only around 100 bucks with all the things to have it portable. That's still cheaper than having a phone with/without a contract. Also the computer has plenty of power to emulate, all it takes is a strong community to get it started. It also has more capabilities than a phone usually has, it can have more games, storage space can be increased, micro server, more customization, more durable(depends how you build the portable/case), lastly it's much more fun to build something than to just buy it.
Get a 3G USB adapter and a Skype number.
Are they possible to order yet?

it sure is, try it out! http://www.raspberrypi.org/
their store site is still up ;)

Their redirection is nice: it says "The page http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1153825/22 is on strike today to fight SOPA and PIPA." on the top.
oh man im part of a strike
I've signed a petition already
I signed a petition and tried to pledge a dollar to wikipedia but the javascript on the page failed making me unable to click on the "not in the US" javascript link button thingy making me unable to pay because I had to give them a valid US zip code :v:
