Early Death would be easily worth it
Not if embedded in buttocks :)
I want one of these just to dick around with it, I'll probably never use it for anything more than a media player/PDA though. Well worth the money though.
Hmm i want to embed a raspberry in my body Imagine how cool it would be to pull a plug out of your breast and insert it to a monitor, then pluggign a keyboard in your stomach and start playing quake?
Transdermals are a cunt from a technical point of view and potentially fatal from a medical one :v: [editline]8th January 2012[/editline]
Not if embedded in buttocks :)
Implants in your ass are a terrible idea, with the muscle groups there the implant would get nudged around under the skin and sitting down would squash the implant.
I want this so much, I don't even know what to do with it, but I want it.

what are the upward pointing pins for?
I'm sure the next ipod will have a solution to that, A mac solution.
They'll get Jobs to showcase something someone else did five years ago but never took off?
what are the upward pointing pins for?
GPIO pins, allows you to do various things like control LEDs, motors, etc.
Not if embedded in buttocks :)
Well aren't you a smartass?
I... want this but I know that I could never solve the power supply problems of this thing in getting everything from a monitor to peripherals powered.
yeah basically this, But guess what? If there's nothing else atleast you can use it to effectively crack things.
Crack what? If you mean something like LM/NT hashes, I can do that on my laptop, and if I have something more computationally heavy, I have a fucking 5770 in my gaming rig which will blow this thing easily.
Man I want one of these so bad. Can't wait for release. [editline]8th January 2012[/editline] Also I'm kind of concerned about the lack of any kind of casing. I can't exactly carry a bare circuit board around loosely in my bag, a simple plastic casing would be really handy. I'd be willing to pay £5 extra for casing too.

Not for the initial version, but there will be a (removable, in case you want to do some soldering) case available later.
http://www.raspberrypi.org/faqs
Make a wooden one yourself
It's like an Apple 1! They should seriously sell it in a kit for those who are that cheap and want to do stuff themselves
I don't know bollocks about computers but i liked the "link them together" part tell me, how many of these could i slap together to make a good pc, that could run battlefield 3 for instance?
I don't know bollocks about computers but i liked the "link them together" part tell me, how many of these could i slap together to make a good pc, that could run battlefield 3 for instance?
It's ARM, it won't run windows games
I don't know bollocks about computers but i liked the "link them together" part tell me, how many of these could i slap together to make a good pc, that could run battlefield 3 for instance?
BF3 won't run on these.
I don't know bollocks about computers but i liked the "link them together" part tell me, how many of these could i slap together to make a good pc, that could run battlefield 3 for instance?
You couldn't.
I don't know bollocks about computers but i liked the "link them together" part tell me, how many of these could i slap together to make a good pc, that could run battlefield 3 for instance?
These are ARM chips, only a few Linux distros run on them, Wine doesn't work on them.

i want to check the forum to look at that supposed pipboy but apparently im banned event though ive never heard of this
It's ARM, it won't run windows games
Oh. So what would be the most demanding game it could run and how many it would require I'm sorry for being this ignorant but the only way i can know what a camputer can do is knowing what game it can run :c
From the forums: Genius.
And then a bluetooth chip inside so a wireless keyboard can be used?
I was just thinking connect USB to keyboard, and keyboard to monitor. Would be kicking rad.
i want to check the forum to look at that supposed pipboy but apparently im banned event though ive never heard of this
It appears that everyone is banned from the forums for now, not sure why. I'm sure it will be fixed soon
And then a bluetooth chip inside so a wireless keyboard can be used?
Well you can get itty bitty small bluetooth USB transceivers, and also itty bitty small Wireless N ethernet sticks. Dunno if there's any usb sticks that can do both though. Have the OS on a SD card and only have a mini-hdmi and power plug (micro-usb?) on front of the mouse. Though you'd need to use a large computer mouse for it, and replace the original internals with parts from a small wired notebook mouse in order to have room for all of it.
I just don't understand why it has composite output. Why not svideo or component instead? If a TV doesn't have HDMI, it's gonna have one of those two(or both). Composite is shit, it shouldn't be used on anything anymore.
so even the poor with only a TV from 1997 has a display device they can hook up to it.
Oh. So what would be the most demanding game it could run and how many it would require
It can't run any games, and you can't just link them together and double to processing power like that.
