Well you can get itty bitty small bluetooth USB transceivers, and also itty bitty small Wireless N ethernet sticks.
Dunno if there's any usb sticks that can do both though.
Have the OS on a SD card and only have a mini-hdmi and power plug (micro-usb?) on front of the mouse.
Though you'd need to use a large computer mouse for it, and replace the original internals with parts from a small wired notebook mouse in order to have room for all of it.
Maybe they can make it more compact with a later version, or perhaps design their own computer-mouse.
Oh.
So what would be the most demanding game it could run and how many it would require
I'm sorry for being this ignorant but the only way i can know what a camputer can do is knowing what game it can run
:c
a single one could probably run sauerbraten pretty decently
I just don't understand why it has composite output. Why not svideo or component instead? If a TV doesn't have HDMI, it's gonna have one of those two(or both). Composite is shit, it shouldn't be used on anything anymore.
Like Van-man said. It's so you can have both analog and digital interfaces, for older and newer technologies.
The main drive behind this project is to provide cheap computers for third world country/low budget schools, so that even the underprivileged can learn to program and operate computers.
Before you guys ask questions just read their FAQ and some of the blog posts; it will help.
The only thing i feel this thing lacks is expandable memory and a VGA out.
I'm sure schools will continue to buy $1000+ macs instead. My school has more than 30 27" imacs and about the same number of macbooks as well.
How does this thing not get stolen

Why would anyone steal it
Why would anyone steal it
i got a fucking 512mb sd card stolen
what won't people steal???

How often are you going to carry this thing around anyways? Besides, everyone know what a SD card is and how to use it. That's not going to be the case here.
I'll take three, when is the release date?
i got a fucking 512mb sd card stolen

Don't leave it unattended? Which goes for pretty much anything?
Don't leave it unattended? Which goes for pretty much anything?
pickpocketed
how does one even get pickpocketed? maybe I'm just more attentive than the average person but every time anyone has ever tried to steal something from me I've picked up on it.

Not many people are going to think stealing what looks like nothing but a circuit board would be worth the effort. Unless they see it in action, of course.
Yeah, I can see it now. A mini-keyboard (think Droid 1 styled) with a mini touchpad/maybe an analog nub attached to a medium sized cellphone (touch?)screen. with a velcro strap for my wrist.
Not many people are going to think stealing what looks like nothing but a circuit board would be worth the effort. Unless they see it in action, of course.
Yeah that makes sense, it looks nothing like a computer.
Will Windows 8 run on this? I mean it's going to have ARM support

Not enough RAM.

Don't phones only have like 256MB ram, too?

Most high end smartphones have 1GB of RAM now

Spending a few hundred dollars on an operating system defeats the whole purpose of the raspberry pi.
Maybe I'm overlooking it but it's a real shame that there isn't some wireless card of sorts in it.
Nevertheless, I'm fucking hyped even though I have no use for this yet.
What, people are seriously paying 1000+ pounds for a beta board.
A laser cutter and some plastic. 3D printers are something different.
How would you make curved/concave plastic objects with a laser cutter
By "case" I don't mean just a square box, I mean something along the lines of two plastic halves that snap together with holes for all the ports and leds, maybe little holes on the back so you can mount it on screws in the wall or under a desk
Something nice that you could actually sell (why I said sell)
3d printers are getting affordable too, like the Makerbot Thing-O-Matic
How would you make curved/concave plastic objects with a laser cutter
While he is not right about only needing laser cutters, but you do realize almost all fabrication process requires more than one machine with unique roles to actually mass produce the product right?

Assuming you're making small objects that are entirely plastic we're already at the point where any hobbyist can easily produce fairly large batches by themselves with one machine

Connect wifi dongle via USB, you might have to compile a kernel module for your specific card yourself if its unsupported though.
It can run Quake 3 with a smooth framerate.
Good enough excuse to buy one.

Less than 20 fps isn't smooth

Make curves using a stationary cutter being aided by something that moves it so that it is cut in a curve, something mechanical I suppose.
pickpocketed
stop letting random men put their hands in your pants, problem solved
Idea #1: Make a little enclosure for it, bolt it to the back of an lcd screen, bam, portable media center. Just plug in the power and off you go.
Idea #2: Get a cheap speaker with lots of space inside the enclosure, put raspberry inside, you now have a speaker with a music library inside it.
Idea #3: (Warning: extreme rice) Put a little lcd screen in the side of your case and hook up a temperature gauge and/or fan controller/various rainmeter-esque things controlled by the raspberry. Very rice-y but [sp]I think it's cool :([/sp]

In a on-stage demo they said they will research why they had frame drops

Actually i was thinking about turning a pizza box into a laptop with the Raspberry, but were do you get a seprate LCD display
