God forbid for devs to try new things. Did you try it out for a while?
Sure it has some interesting mechanics, but this game is mostly geared to people that are younger. Smash is still the better choice.
I only read good things about it, what's bad about it?
The incredibly off putting art style.
Depends on the genre, Smash has the most replay value while Splatoon is a very fun online shooter.
Smash, Splatoon is TF2 without hats or heart... look its boring as hell.
No it's not.
Well, I the answer is pretty much unanimously Splatoon. [sp]Really though, buy smash, get friends over, order pizza and never look back because you're about to experience the most fun a human being can physically have[/sp]
Lord of Boxes be salty about ratings and sending me PMs. Smash is obviously superior and that is just a fact. You can't really compare these 2 games anyways. One is a kid friendly TPS, the other is a fighting game.

both poop get wonderful 101 and hyrule warriors instead
Smash Bros isn't kid friendly?
It is, but Splatoon is marketed directly towards children, Smash is marketed to teens and young adults.
It is, but Splatoon is marketed directly towards children, Smash is marketed to teens and young adults.
"It's marketed towards children so it sucks!" you can't be that fucking stupid.
"It's marketed towards children so it sucks!" you can't be that fucking stupid.
I didn't say that's why it sucks.
I didn't say that's why it sucks.
Sure sounded like it.
Sure sounded like it.
He said you can't compare the two games because they're vastly different, and the target audience of a game contributes to many of the reasons why they're different. Chill.
I didn't say that's why it sucks.
you've never even played splatoon so why are you giving garbage reasons to why splatoon is better than SSB and rating everyone who disagrees with you dumb
Obviously choose Smash.
I'm wondering what the longevity of Splatoon will be like. I'd go smash tho.
Absolute smash
mario kart
Depends, really. Splatoon is pretty damn fun, the online multiplayer is pretty ok, but it probably won't last as long as Smash. Smash's online multiplayer is horrendous but if you can get some friends over to play it then it is by and far one of the best games on the WiiU. I own both and liked both so I'd say get whatever.
Why not just get both you fuck Steal your parents credit card
It's a game, where you use paint, as a weapon. Let that sink in for a while. Smash has things to do shit to unlock for hours and hours of entrainment. Splatoon seems like it might be fun for a few hours then you will never pick it up again.

Smash, Splatoon is TF2 without hats or heart... look its boring as hell.
Splatoon is way more than just what you saw in the single trailer you watched a week ago and then forgot about. it has stuff to unlock for hours, cloths, weapons, upgrades what is this http://splatoon.wikia.com/wiki/Headgear whoa, gee, almost looks like these are hats. What do you know. what the fuck is thishttp://splatoon.wikia.com/wiki/Clothing just what IS THIS http://splatoon.wikia.com/wiki/Shoes oh jesus, would you guys look at this http://splatoon.wikia.com/wiki/Ability abilities that you can unlock, I bet there is more stuff I'm sorry but if you two are going to assess the quality of a game you don't know anything about don't be surprised that people are calling you stupid I don't even own the game and I know this. Do you know why? Because I don't talk out of my ass.
Splatoon is ridiculously fun and has a load of content that keeps me coming back to play it every day, if only to see what new clothing the shops have and play a quick round. It's got its fair share of problems mostly stemming from connection issues in Multiplayer, but the devs have been fairly responsive to fan feedback and I imagine fixes to that are coming soon. Specifically, Splatoon's multiplayer matchmaking doesn't take region or ping in to account, and since the game sold like crazy in Japan you more or less can't avoid Japanese players with 400 ping whose shots take priority over yours and who seem to be invincible to your shots. That problem's not as bad in turf war, the "cover the floor with paint" mode, but in the game's "Totally not Payload" mode and its "King of the Hill/Control Points" mode its absolute murder since kills actually matter in those modes. In "Totally not Payload," the cart itself is actually affected by lag so if you get more than like three Japanese players you might as well consider the round a loss. Putting all that aside, the base game is incredibly fun, varied, and well designed. It's just the damned connection issues that destroy it. Smash has its own fair share of content, but I honestly grew bored of it very quickly. It's fun for couch vs. and it's fun for online 1v1, but unless you like sitting around all day fighting bots to get trophies you won't get much else out of it. Also, Smash's online is only slightly better than Splatoon's, and that's ONLY if you play 1v1 online. If you try to play 2v2 or 4-player free for all online you aren't going to have a good time because the match will lag to shit. Between Smash and Splatoon, I'd say go for Splatoon. I'm having way more fun with it despite its flaws. All that said: fuck both games, get Hyrule Warriors, Wonderful 101, and Bayonetta 1 and 2.
Playstation Allstars battle royale.
I'm assume Splatoon has a lot going for it. Honestly, the only problem I see is with set-ups (voice chat issues can be bypassed easily). I feel that if you're really into Splatoon though you would have your own set up and you would bring it places and you would possibly have to share with people. That's what they do for computer tournaments (well, the set-ups are provided, but still). If it's really something that people want to get really invested in, there's always a way to make things work.
Playing and loving both, I would get Splatoon first while the online play is hot. Smash you can play locally or alone a lot eaiser.

I don't like different things [editline]15th July 2015[/editline] anyway smash is the best option out of the two, but pick up splatoon if you can later down the line.

Splatoon for sure.
i played the game for an hour and it felt like ages, never done anything more boring. putting clothes in the game doesn't add anything to gameplay
That's alright. Each to their own. If you don't like the game you don't like the game. No one can force you to make your brain think otherwise. I myself don't spend many hours in smash because it feels too much like a good social game with others to play it alone.
