There are still so may battles that could be made into a WWII game. Like the Winter War for example. Shit would be so awesome, using guerrilla tactics against the Soviets.
Needs more navy battles. I personally find ships the most fucking awesome thing in the world.
I want more modern battles played by the bad guys for once, I'm tired of playing as "super 1337 spechul forces".

Done.
What have I done! I sent a message to someone stating I'd like to order one KWA Mp9 from him. :v:
I loved the pepperbox pistol in that game.
Also seriously, we NEED more WW1 and some more vietnam games (not fucking blackops, REAL games, like BF:Vietnam or the original BF: Vietnam.) I loved those games.
Cold War ops would be pretty interesting to see in a game.
The cold war was an iffy era.
There was fighting, but there wasn't.

Maybe. Just maybe...
I want a soviet afghanistan game
like 9 rota but not RTS
Watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
On NETFLIX :smug:
The thing with video games is, you can interpret anyway you want to. The outcomes are limitless, and if you want something to go a certain way, all you have to do is change it to historical fiction. So yes, a Cold War game could most definitely work. Of course It'd be probably good to get the guns of the era and gear correct, among other things.

When they first announced Black Ops was set in the Cold War I was expecting some missions set during that war. I was sadly disappointed.
I've been doing a lot of skirmishing and want to finally attend a milsim game but I don't know how registration and stuff works :eng99:
Civil war and WW1 games pls
The reason they aren't done as ground-based FPSes (there are RTSes for Civil War, flight sims for WW1, etc) is because of certain problems associated with both.
In the Civil War, most conflict was fought by big groups of men standing in formation, with weapons that were horribly inaccurate and took thirty seconds to reload, and battles lasted hours. That's not much fun to play. There was a Civil War FPS (it was bad, don't go looking for it) that had the player always skirmishing around. The problem was that in order to get around the boring as fuck weapons, they gave the player revolving rifles, repeaters, and other such weapons that were only used in small quantities. Combine the two design changes and it doesn't feel like the Civil War anymore.
World War 1 was not all trenches as commonly depicted, but it still has the same element of individual weakness as a Civil War game. You're not going to mow down armies of Germans CoD-style with a bolt-action rifle, and the weapons are pretty much limited to bolt-action rifles, shotguns, pistols, grenades, and stationary machineguns. It was also a far less dynamic war than WW2, so there's a lot less variety in settings.
Basically both wars are ones in which the typical method of fighting is not fun from a game standpoint, and the weapons used are not fun from a game standpoint, and if you circumvent the two the question remains as to why you chose that war as your setting in the first place.
Now, one game I would like to see is something based on the Anglo-Zulu War- Rorke's Drift in particular.
stationary machine guns my ass.
You had the chauchat.....and, uh. Fuck.
Regardless, look at a game like Red Dead Redemption, much more than just a western. It took place in 1910 and had some relatively modern weaponry in use. Just take the mechanics of rdr, apply the multiplayer posse/ deathmatch system. Make each side enemies and throw them into war torn europe of 1918. Doesn't really help that the americans did enter the war really god damned late.
Civil war could be mostly melee based, you fire at first then charge with your bayonet, making it a first person fighting game with light gunplay
There was uh, that civil war Source mod, I played it way back, was kinda fun.

I have a hard time believing that a reskinned Wild West shooter would 'feel' like WW1, no matter how you dress it up. Remember also that what a cowboy could get his hands on and what an enlisted infantryman was issued were rather different.

Never heard of a Civil War mod, but there is a Revolutionary War mod called Battle Grounds that's still played. I see this as somewhat inexplicable as the lack of lag compensation makes hitting people with guns ridiculous and the melee system is pretty derp.

Well actually, i don't see your point at all.
Most of the weapons you had in red dead redemption could easily be found on an infantryman.
Take away the throwing knive, molotovs, dynamite and lasso. You have several bolt action rifles, one of them the widely used springfield which was employed by the us army. You have several repeaters that COULD have been distributed, you have several colt revolvers of which the army essentially used newer versions of during the war, and you have 2 shotguns in the game that were actually used in wwi as well.
I don't see why a reskinned western wouldn't work, remember this isn't the conventional western, this takes place in 1910-1920 and there is already quite a lot of modern things in that game. It would work.
I love how i'm talking about this as if it would ever happen.

I know there was a WWI mod but it looked god awful.
So yeah, anybody wanna work on a Cold War mod?
Fuck yeah got my paycheck, going to go buy LA Noire I think, this'll be like the first game I've bought since getting EP2 months ago.
Stupideye asked me to wrote a detective story about the Facebook troll like two days ago so I am doing it now

I looked blankly at the wall, the wallpaper was curling, and something smelled like shit. I saw a silhouette appear in front of my door, there was a knock.
“Come in” I said with a sigh. It was my Secretary Jenni. I noticed she was wearing a strange earring and wearing far too much make-up.
“A man is here with a case for you”
Despite her make-up, I still wanted to plough her like a fucking tractor, just without all the metal and blades, and the field.
“Send him in.”
Jenni nodded and walked back out, her perfume lingered for a moment but then dissipated. A few seconds later a man dressed in camouflage and wielding a gun, he spoke with a strong French Canadian accent.
“Hey Broski, I'm in a pree tight spot”
I gave him a brief stare and asked him for his name.
“Lûc Carriere” he replied. I had heard the name somewhere before, but not sure where and when.
“Well Mr. Carriere, what seems to be the problem?”
He looked uneasy and shifted around in his seat, he clearly wasn't comfortable confronting me with his problem.
“Someone is trying to track me down, and they are claiming to be my wife”
I let out a long sigh and rub my eyes, I was too tired for his shit.
“Well, that is certainly interesting. Do you have any proof?”
He thought for a moment and then pulled out an iPod touch and loaded up his Facebook account. What I saw next was truly shocking...
Hundreds of comments from a “Jennifer Carriere” were all over his and his friends wall, there was even an event, a Slumber Party. It was on the 21st of March 2012. Mr. Carriere told me this was his birthday. It was taking place in a shack and 16 people were attending so far. For some reason, Jennifer Carriere seemed to ring a bell, I then realised.
I ran out of my office looking for Jenni, but she was not there. She had stolen the Front Desk phone, an apple from the fruit bowl and had took a shit on the welcome mat. I heard a car starting outside and I looked out of my window and down onto the the street below. It was Jenni, she was driving away in her car. I grabbed my coat and pushed open my door, I forgot about the shit and slipepd on it. I went tumbling down the stairs but managed to recuperate myself and run down the next flight of stairs.
