You do realize how incredibly useful those plate readers are, right? They help find stolen cars, and people with outstanding warrants. It makes the officer's job infinitely easier by not having to run plates over the radio. One of those systems can run around 3000 plates in one hour. The only people these things piss off are criminals, so therefor, you are a criminal.
Around here, they look like this:

(I live in Virginia as well :P) They look like this where I live: [editline]29th May 2012[/editline] http://www.arlnow.com/2010/12/29/morning-poll-license-plate-readers/
Actually, I do believe that NI is more like FBI Hostage Rescue team (except in '04 when the looked for escaped prisoners) and that the Swedish version of SWAT actually is Piketen
No okaey, NI isn't SWAT, or kind of. Yeah, Piketen do SWAT-stuff, but they are lightweight. Both NI and Piketen does the same things, kind of. One day I took a ride with the 3rd pricent of my town. They wanted to display how useful the plate readers where so they took a drive down Elm Street, One of the worst streets in yonkers. It was either 15 or 16 cars on that street alone had bad registration or warrants. Thing is registration belongs to the person they want, but the person they want is gone in hiding and now the families just drive the car
I dont like the automatic plate readers. Just too many plates being ran. (They log all this stuff too, you know)
I dont like the automatic plate readers. Just too many plates being ran. (They log all this stuff too, you know)
I'm not seeing what the problem is?
I'm not seeing what the problem is?
what if you have outstanding parking tickets?
what if you have outstanding parking tickets?
Well you should probably get those paid so you don't have to worry about it.
I dont like the automatic plate readers. Just too many plates being ran. (They log all this stuff too, you know)
As far as I know, any plates that are run without being a hit or that the officer chooses to ignore are wiped in either 24 hours or when the next shift comes on. At least, that's how it is in some jurisdictions.
Plates arn't your property anyway, They have every right to find them when need be.
Also some VW's and volvos, they also have a dune buggy for the beach and some jeeps stuck in sand
Here in Arlington, they've just started using these vehicles: They drive around in parking lots checking your plates, and if you have more than $200 in outstanding fines or public debts, they take your license plates and put a big yellow notice where they were. Cheeky bastards.
You thought the meter-reader police were bad, this is a whole new level

I would hate to see the repair bill for one of those if something breaks.
I would hate to see the repair bill for one of those if something breaks.
Ohh come on its the 3.0TDI. What could go wrong!
This is what I've seen around here. Needless to say, I don't really take them all that seriously.
Yonkers police brought there new Chevy car they will be slowly changing too over the next 5-10 years. Our new logo is a bit meh and typical police force but looks more aggressive i guess, I wanted to take a photo but the cop who drove it was being a real ass about it.

Our cops are assholes. They've started using unmarked pickup trucks because NOBODY ever expects them.

Intresting to hear a US city using a foreign vehicle. The only place I know that does it is NYC with the prius and even then they are regretting it.
