How To Make Sushi (Beginner's Guide for Beginners)

My uncles went on a deep sea fishing trip one year when our family got together for a reunion out in the Outer Banks, North Carolina and came back with almost 500 pounds of tuna. I made enough sushi to choke a horse.
The best thing to do as far as preparing your fish or meat is to freeze it to the point where it is tacky to the touch, and then cut it into the shape you want. This is the easiest way to cut raw fish, and it works pretty well for any meat.
I second the request for a recipe forum. I have a ridiculous collection of Mediterranian, Middle Eastern, and Indian recipes I feel like sharing.

Something similar would be tempura would it not? I'm a sushi noob, I just know the kind I eat tastes good. I eat the maki sushi though, which is the kind I prepared. It's good enough for me.

Also, I've looked everywhere for some short-grain rice, but I can't seem to find any in my area.
Hmm. Did you try the ethnic foods aisle at your grocery store?
I have a rice cooker. Should I avoid using it while making sushi?

No, I actually read that you can use a rice cooker, I assume the same amount of time as mentioned in the guide. Just get it to a boil, then let it simmer on low for about 20 minutes.
Always mean to make it but never get round to it.
sublime is the shit
Isn't Sushi the cooked version and Sushimi the raw version? I was told this rather reciently.

Sushi is an umbrella term. Sashimi doesn't come in rolls.

Usually the process goes to freeze the meat and thaw it in a certain way to avoid freezerburn
Made sushi

Sashimi is just the raw fish by itself, which is fucking delicious with a bit of soy and wasabi
Sushi is supposed to be eaten raw dumb shit
Kath Your the dumbshit for one, troll'. you didn't read before you typed up somthing that you obvously didn't think about. "If there are doubts to the QUALITY of meat, its defenatly not suggest to eat it raw." Is my exact quote'. Which obvously means, that if you SEE the quality of meat not being very good, aka greenish or any bad indacations, that you SHOULD NOT EAT IT RAW. so get your head and eye's examined before critque'ing me, I do not take kindly to any false acusations.
Yes, let's deep fry sushi.
You are not a troll, so i will make this simple. I referd to the meats quality and if it was good quality, then its ok to eat it raw in most cases. However if its bad quality then you shouldn't. Please read all the way and understand that what I said about quality and eating, was in the same sentence.

I love sashimi. Though, you should try it with a small dab of teriyaki sauce instead of soy! Ever sooo little amount makes it absolutly great.

Not sushi. That's kimbap/gimbap which is a Korean rice roll. No actual fish inside it.
