I've got Sandisk Extreme III Compact flash card, I can't find what class it is. It says 30MB/s on Amazon page though
I'm looking to buy a camera to start my new photography hobby off. I'm willing to shell out some money for a good quality DSLR. If it matters then I'll be mainly using it for landscape photos, buildings, roads and mountain scenery etc. I've done some research myself, but it seems just a minefield. Can anyone provide some example suggestions on cameras, maybe specs i should be looking for in a camera for my needs?

Just looking at that now, It looks like a great camera. I'll read up more on it later as I'll be going for my dinner soon, but do i need to be looking out for any specifications on a camera particularly? For instance, I'm struggling to tell what the differences between most DSLRs are right now.

The basic image quality stays roughly the same between budget models, then between middle and high end models. The real difference in quality comes with lenses. Differences between bodies include sensor size, low light sensitivity (and quality in low light), construction, material etc.

What I'd say is, don't immediately go for an expensive body - it'll probably be better to get some nice lenses for a cheaper body
Thanks a lot for all the input, It's been really helpful. I go to Scotland, Glenelg for a week doing various walks etc. Hopefully I'll bring back some nice pictures :)

Just bought a Tokina 28mm 2.8 manual focus lens Got it dirt cheap so I'm looking forward to see how it performs, a lot of people say it really ain't that bad at all counting on the fact that before the economic crash it was like $80 (around 9,000 ISK) and that's what I got it for now.
I'm looking for something to trigger my flash(Canon 430EX II) and something to trigger my camera(canon 7D) Was looking into some triggers but would like to hear from you if you have any good yet affordable options for both of these.

Anyone know how to try out an SD card? Apparently I got a U1 16GB but I want to see what write speed I can get in the camera. However I can't find the camera using H2TestW (utility to test USB disks and SD cards) but I can navigate it freely in Windows. Is that because of Canon's firmware/protection?

Just put it into a card reader and test it that way.
I've been thinking about getting into photography, but apparently getting straight into a DSLR isn't the best idea, especially as I'm worried I'll lose interest. So, I decided to get a film camera first and try it out because I hear that's a much cheaper route to take. Any recommendations on models/places to buy?
pentax me super lolo
So I want a Canon EOS 7D for mostly filming. What lenses and accessories should I use? I haven't owned a DSLR before so I want some advice. As I said, I just want it for filming and some occasional still shots.

30mm 1.4 is a beast for filming
Sigma 30mm f1.4.
Or Canon 35mm f2, an overlooked decent lens. Not sure how good it would be for filming but it's cheap and has very good image quality.
I was looking at Carl Zeiss lenses. [editline]15th September 2011[/editline] And what camera is good for green screen filming? I wanted to do that also.
Got my new Tokina!
I was looking at Carl Zeiss lenses. [editline]15th September 2011[/editline] And what camera is good for green screen filming? I wanted to do that also.
What's your budget? If you're looking at Carl Zeiss do you think you could afford a 5D II?
What's your budget? If you're looking at Carl Zeiss do you think you could afford a 5D II?
Maybe, what is the difference between 5D and 7D? [editline]15th September 2011[/editline] For filming.
If you have to ask you probably don't need. Inb4 ''Shallower dof''
Maybe, what is the difference between 5D and 7D? [editline]15th September 2011[/editline] For filming.
Full frame sensor is the main thing
Maybe, what is the difference between 5D and 7D? [editline]15th September 2011[/editline] For filming.
If you have to ask that question, question yourself whether you're doing the right thing by diving straight into professional cameras and lenses.
If you have to ask that question, question yourself whether you're doing the right thing by diving straight into professional cameras and lenses.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that, he seems pretty serious about film making and he's right to choose a DSLR, so asking which camera is better on a forum is perfectly fine There are loads of discussions on which is actually better out of the 7D and the 5D so it's a pretty legitimate question, but I think the general consensus is that the 5D is the one for movies
Maybe, what is the difference between 5D and 7D? [editline]15th September 2011[/editline] For filming.
5D's have FX sensors. And they're it's widely known as the some of the best video on a DSLR
