I bought it. I wanted to try out a wide angle and it seems like a decent price.
After looking in the film thread, it's starting to make me want to buy a film slr now. So I've been trying to google some SLRS(also looked at what DD recommended as well) and was wondering if this is a good price? It seems really cheap to me but I just want to get your guys' insight on this: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/ssd/pho/2727807308.html
it's not a bad price especially with that autofocus lens it comes with. but you'll probably only use the 50mm.

I would suggest getting something with manual focus instead than this amateur autofocus Pentax in my opinion. This is like shooting a digital camera, but with film. I don't know if you like that, but i don't shoot analog to shoot it like a dslr. The thing i would suggest is a Canon A-1, AE-1, Pentax Spotmatic or a Nikon FE. At least that's something with decent buildquality and they don't cost that much too. (well at least the FD lenses and pentax m42, the nikon F manual focus lenses arent cheap if you are looking for anything else than the 50mm f/1.8)
Its not quite a Which camera question Its a should I get a Compact system camera Or stick with film and get a V500
what camera do you have? if it's a t3i/600D you're a lucky bastard
60D :v:

I'll take a look at the cameras you suggested. Also wondering, is there anything else I should know about film slrs?
A friend bought me a Fujifilm Finepix S9250. It's terrible.
A friend bought me a Fujifilm Finepix S9250. It's terrible.
But it's free.
Its not quite a Which camera question Its a should I get a Compact system camera Or stick with film and get a V500
compact system cameras are great if you really enjoy manual focusing. i can go pretty in depth about them if you'd like, but you'd be dropping more money on a compact system unless you got something like a nex 3 which is cheap as fuck and rocks the photos
Where's the best place to buy cameras or camera bodies?
Support a local camera shop.
Alright, thanks. I'll take a look at the cameras you suggested. Also wondering, is there anything else I should know about film slrs?
Other camera's you might be interested in(if they are cheap) are Canon A-1, Pentax ME-Super and a Olympus OM-1/2
anyone know of a camera like the yashica t4/t5 that isnt really expensive but still good quality? requirements are 35mm not aps automatic small sturdy [editline]9th December 2011[/editline] LC-A+ or LC-wide might be an interesting option although they are kind of expensive, is focusing and film advance automatic on them?
surprised noone has any suggestions, i was expecting a couple of suggestions for unsuitable systems (dslr, film slr) if nothing else
Is this a good camera? http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/Product/Digital-SLR-Cameras/25478/D5100.html
The D5100 uses the same sensor as the D7000, and afaik the D7000 is a great camera. Never used one of those before though, unless you count my playing with them @ target :v: Only problem I really have with it is the size, but that's just my own preference after using larger bodies with battery grips, heh. What kind of things do you plan to use it for?
Is the Eos 10D good for a starter? I found one on craigslist for $150 with a 24-70mm sigma
it's kind of really old
Would it be worth it to a beginner for that price?
$150 is cheaper than keh.com but most likely that sigma sucks and the 10d is shit by today's standards, i would suggest saving for atleast a 1000d or just getting a film camera if you want something imediatly and dont have any more money to spend
I have a Minolta XG-1 that I just found, but I can't develop film. I don't think CVS has it anymore either. Is it worth anything so I can sell it and buy a DSLR?
maybe 20-30 dollars, b&w can be done at home and requires few resources, if there isnt a colour developer still in your town there are online mailers available cheaper than what you would normally pay a local developer
Is the Samsung SL30 still what you'd recommend for around that pricerange? I just kinda want a camera, hopefully one that can do 720p @ around 30fps well, too.
thinking about asking for one of these for christmas http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-Ultra-Wide-Converter-Converts-Sony-E-Mount-Pancake-VCLECU1-/320786593096?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab05ef548 will turn my 16mm f2.8 lens into a 12mm f2.8 lens. i would be so wide
Pretty much set on getting myself a Canon 50mm f/1.4 for my 550D, $400 from B&H. Any objections?
Pretty much set on getting myself a Canon 50mm f/1.4 for my 550D, $400 from B&H. Any objections?
Got the same setup, love it. It's pretty much staying on the camera all the time.
http://www.woot.com/ Pretty good deal, I think. Todays deal is a rebel with lens for 399.99.
Almost got that same fucking camera on craigslist for 50 bucks with lenses but noo my mom doesn't understand the difference between a point and shoot and a dslr. I asked her for a camera and she pointed to my phone :suicide:
Got the same setup, love it. It's pretty much staying on the camera all the time.
I was thinking about buying the f/1.8 just because its really cheap. Do you think I should get that or save my money and go for the f/1.4?
