I've been thinking about selling my 1100D with the kit lens and a Canon 55-250 4,5-5,6 and buy a used Nikon D200, found one with battery grip and a sigma 18-50 2,8 lens for about the same price that i could get for My 1100D.
My main reason to changing is that My aunts husband is using an Nikon, and he's got some pretty expensive lenses that i could borrow + i feel like the functions in the D200 outmatches having video and live view mode..
The Only thing I'm abit worried about is the ISO quality on the D200, but it shouldn't be Any problems, right?
Anyways, is there anything you think i would miss on the 1100D that the D200 doesn't have, and do you think it is a good change?
I had a D200 with grip and I absolutely loved it. The noise performance is fine but I don't know how it compares to the 1100D. Wouldn't be surprised if the 1100D handled noise better than the D200.
Personally I'd go for the D200 as it is a nice camera. But then again, don't try to switch bodies too much thinking you'll take better pictures.
Although the D200 feels like a 'pro' body, it is also old.
For all you US peeps out there, the Rebel's $250 off today only on Amazon.

The Rebel T3 is a better deal for $450
Do you guys think it would be worth it to sell my Pentax Kx to buy a Rebel T3 or possibly something more expensive? I am hating the limited equipment selection Pentax has.
no that would be awful the kx is a significantly better camera than the t3
plus the K mount has pretty much the most lenses made for it out of any system

$30 K-mount adapter for m42 lenses, and bam, a huge number of lenses made over the past 30-40 years.
could i get anyone elses opinion to eventually switching from the 1100D to the D200 that i wrote about on the past page? really curious to if there are any features that i would miss except for video and live view..
I'd go for it.
http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-1100D-vs-Nikon_D200
Yeah, checked that out before, but didn't think it told the whole truth.. For exemple, snapsort doesn't state the resolution on the screen which is much worse on the 1100D than the D200, so even if the screen is smaler, it holds alot of more details on a photo. Also, it doesn't mention things like the bracketing feature in the D200, The DOF preview function (which i'm abit sceptic of how well it works) or the cabability to see where the focus was in a photo after it was shot.. Things like that..
well based on what you just added, that's a lot of things in favor of the d200. and DoF preview is awesome, it just sets the aperture to what it would be during exposure, which can darken the viewfinder a bit but that's the only way i ever shoot on my SLR cameras
Aperture preview is pretty useless nowadays, it's a thing left from film days.
You could just take a picture to see what the bokeh is like, the viewfinder isn't so accurate.

Oh, okej, i've heard that the DoF preview was pretty worthless, but i've only heard from canon users, so it might be better on an nikon.
yeah, everything points to a Switch beeing the better choice here. Hopefully i can sell my 1100D soon. :)

D90 user
DOF preview for me just darkens the image, maybe I'm doing it wrong but I manage alright without it.

I have one however manual focus with shitty vision on a DSLR is awful. How much would a split focusing screen run me?

The D200 has the same sensor as my D80, ISO quality is quite well until you hit iso 1600 and above, but nothing that noticable.

What kind of DSLR do you have?
I've been thinking about selling my Nikon D5000 and my Nikkor 55-200mm f/4 lens and upgrading to a better lens and a D7000, what do you think I'll get for them?
I'll buy it for one dollar!

What exactly do you define as a better lens?
Im buying a camera soon but i can't decide between the Canon 550D (T2i) or Canon 600D (T3i) is the 600d really worth $200 more than the 550D? I hear most people saying that they are pretty much the same camera, exept for the swivle screen.
Im going to be using it for alot of filming, aswell as photo's. But does the 550D have all the same features as the 600D?
honestly they literally are pretty much the same camera sans the swivel screen
This may or may not be the right place to ask, but I'm looking for a DSLR for film.

Anything more affordable than this?
No such thing.
A digital camera with film?
For film. As in, shooting video is necessary.

Something with more zoom would be nice, since I like photographing motorsports
I think I may sell the Pentax KX and get a used d5000 (or5100) body of ebay. I have a bunch of old Nikon lenses that I know work with it. I have a 50 1.4, a 80-200 F/4, and a 28-80 Kit lens so I think I'll be good in that department.
I dropped in my rolls for developing today from Morocco. Very excited.
Also had a go at the Nikon V1 while I was there. It's really, really fucking sweet.
Feels so solid - really nice weight to it. I would feel very comfortable using it as a carry-round camera.
