It's the old non-macro version.
30
My parents are being dicks and refusing to lend me(and I would pay them back) £80-100 for the 30 so I can only get the 17-50 now :sigh:
Cheapest one on Amazon is 230 used, the Nikon for whatever reason is 160 though.
Any other viable options? I'm considering the Sigma 610 Super but I'm not sure how it compares to the 530 or the Canon 430EX II speedlight
And 10 bucks more for their newest flash brand new doesn't seem so terrible either. But I want to hear what anyone else thinks.
I got 6~ hours before I am unable to get it in time, anyone?
If you know of a flash that's just as good but sub 200 please let me know. And finally, I realized if I can shave off enough cash I'd be able to afford a battery grip. Problem is, I don't know whats quality and what's not. Any help in that department also would be greatly appreciated. I plan on buying all of it on Amazon (cheapest place and fastest).
What do you need it for?

The 530 super is <200 http://www.amazon.com/Sigma-EF-530-Super-Electronic-Flash/dp/B000UHC01A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307118328&sr=8-1
That's for Nikon and I have a Canon, don't think they work the same. Canon one is 400 new (for some batshit reason) and 230 used. Also, I'm going to be doing indoor portraiture among other things.
Is there any real difference between the 610 and the 530?
I got a Nissin Di622 Mark 2 recently, as the 430ex was too much and this does the same for much less, around £110.
For a third party budget flash, its amazing. The build quality is solid, its more powerful than the canon 430 I think, can't remember.
You should check out some reviews on it, I highly reccomend if it you want a fully functioning bounce/swivel flash for half the price and just as good as the Canon models.
I said fuck it and went with the 610, luckily it's with Amazon so if it falls short of my expectations I can always return it. Thanks anyway though!
Is a Canon EOS 1000D a good first camera?
I really want to start on photography.
The 1000D is a great starter camera. However, it's a little old now and they're starting to phase them out of stores. The reason being that the 1000D doesn't have video. Nikon's d3100 is a similar price and a newer camera, but if video isn't your thing, and you don't like the feel of Nikon's, then the 1000D would serve well.
Very nice pictures, by the way.

This is all I did ever, on my uncle's H20 and god I love it http://www.flickr.com/photos/_inacio_/
Go to a photography store and play around with the cameras for a while, see what you like the feel of most and then decide. You could look online at a few to get a price idea, go instore and if its worse say you want to think about it and then buy em online!

yeah 1000D is great, i use it so it's infinetly better than anything roll program will recommend
I recommend a poet and a scribe for capturing moments.
Or a polychromatic rendering artisan, if you have the coinage.
The D3100 is a tad more expensive, around $200 more. Is it worth it? Videos aren't the priority, but if it's easier to use or some shit it'd be great.
And thanks! :buddy:
You're welcome! Well, 'easier to use' purely depends on your personal viewpoint. Canon's are horrible to hold in my hands, but the viewfinder is nicer on my eyes. You need to go down and 'feel one up', as suggested. But, if video isn't a big deal for you, then there is no reason not to get the 1000D if you like how it feels.
Got my flash and grip today (Good work on next day shipping amazon!)
They both exceeded my expectations, so I'm very happy.

Anybody have a lens they'd recommend for less than 250 bucks (Canon)
I got paid yesterday and am really tempted to buy a pair of cheap manual flashes and a radio transmitter. Anyone have experience with the Yongnuo or Nissin flashes?
hows the nikon d3100 for a starter camera? i'm specifically going to be shooting textures for 3d modeling and i want video functionality too, preferably 1080p.

Amazing starter camera. Go to the store and hold all the cameras first before you buy, don't buy from the Internet straight away, though.

I'm having the same problem with lenses, I keep finding amazing deals that I can't afford.
like a 50 1.4 for £190
I could afford that.
What I couldn't afford right now is a 30 1.4 I found for £260.
I don't like 50 on a crop anyway, it's too tight.
