Honestly didn't know there was a Korean presence in Afghanistan.
They actually left a couple years ago but last year sent 400 troops back.
Ask him if he'll make a facepunch one.

I come to read this thread with pride and love for my beloved country. South Korea.
For my Korean Army Service, recently, I applied and got recruited to be in Afghanistan's Korean outpost!
those arent Humvee's.
is that the korean jeep?post more pictures of it.
They're not Korean, they're US. From what I remember they're MRAPs, Mine Resistant Ambush Protected. Basiclly they are anti mine trucks that can survive mines, or in this case IEDs. Other then that, those are awesome paintings.
It's great to see art in places that were previously so dull colored. Kudos to the soldier who painted all that

I think those are MRAPs.

im not completely oblivious to the idea of servicemen/women overseas having free time and doing things, but it's just really cool to see this and think about the guy doing it and all. great pics man
That fifth picture in OP is amazing
I take Tae Kwon Do
Do you have any pictures of the korean soldiers?
I don't currently but they want to take a group photo with me some time soon so i'll post that when i get it.
How do you know it was one soldier?
Know the name?
I don't know his name, but I've seen him painting them, I believe his tour is over now however so he's gone back home
What did he use for the materials and how did he get them?
Well obviously paint, but as far as where they came from, I'm not entirely sure but i do know we purchase from local vendors some times or items are flown in from other countries we have contracts with.
That second content post of his proves my point that he have to stay there to help uproot the damned extremists that plague them.
I agree, this country is in need of help.
Sorry for off-topic question, but have you got any interesting stories about the terrorists in that area?
As i said before, I'm a desk jockey, I work on computers all day so I don't really have any interesting stories other then the few times I've witnessed rockets being launched from the mountain side at the base.

It's known as Operational Security, Hence my post stating that talking about any events taking place here are not the topic of discussion, only the photos of the art and other random images I've posted. Everything I've posted is perfectly fine since the convoys have already taken place and no intel appears in any of the photos (I can talk about past incidents as long as they are not currently being investigated or anything.)
But thank you for the heads up.

I've enjoyed talking with many of the Koreans here and it's given me alot of insight to a culture i previously knew nothing about, I wish you luck.

We use Mraps, as far as the little jeep goes, I'm not sure if it's a U.S. vehicle or something else, I've never seen it driven anywhere so I'm not sure if it even works.

Can I get some close-ups of this wall? Are they stenciled or based off of other drawings or totally unique?
I'm on a government computer right now so i can't view the picture, but I'm assuming your talking about the tae kwon do paintings, he didn't use a stencil when he painted them, he free handed using a picture as a reference he taped to the wall while he painted.
If you like I'll see if i can get a closer picture of one of them, is there a particular one that you would like a close up of?

He's talking about the wall with 4 different paintings. 3 blue, 1 orange/yellow. With all those happy cartoony characters.

The happy wall is the one I'm asking about :v:
They just look so familiar for some reason

I honestly don't know what went into those walls, i never saw him outside painting them, over the course of a few days those particular paintings just started to appear, it only took him a few days per set too. He may have used a reference, i'm not sure, i'll see if i can grab my camera and get a close up of one of the sections.
Really awesome paintings in the most unexpected place.
That's pretty cool how they just started appearing.
That's awesome. Nice to see something good coming out of this. :unsmith:
I forgot about this painting, personally i like this one the most but i don't walk by it all the time so i forgot about it.

I hate the military, but that's fucking awesome.
OP I really urge you to REALLY think about what you post. OPSEC and all that.
I hate the military, but that's fucking awesome.
Then you suit up and go on the front line in a middle-eastern country, be subject to strict PT tests and held to a really high standard.
oh great artwork!

Why do you hate the people who go to die for you?
I've been over this already, no dates, times, or anything that would violate operational security have or will be posted, only the photos of the art. The topic of discussion here is the art, this isn't an Iama or anything.
Thank you for the concern though.
(I'm an Nco who's been in for almost 6 years, I know what opsec is and i'm not violating the policy in anyway None of these photos show anything other then the valley or the art... please stop warning me about it unless you see something that violates opsec...)
