No I didn't.
Prove it.
The USA was not founded on Christianity for one simple reason. In order to have freedom of religion, you need to have freedom from religion.
I'll give you an explanation, OP is clearly bashing religion in an inderect way
Not only can you not spell, you are just furthering my impression that you have no clue what you're talking about. I love how people in this thread have the gaul to call others ignorant when they don't even bother to provide an explanation.
u mad
Do you love me or what
Prove it.
Consider the fact that the majority of the nation's founding fathers, were Deists, and that the ideals of our government, such as unalienable rights, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, were all enlightenment ideals, I'd say it's safer to say that our nations ideals and goverment were founded on the enlightenment more than they are on Christianity. Provide evidence for what you are trying to claim.

I find that it works to not get worked up over religion. What is the point? What are you proving? You cannot prove the existence or non-existence of God, so why try? You are not making yourself better by getting all riled up about it. All you are doing is making people mad and making yourself unhappy.
Yeah, because is something that really matters And of course, religion "makes people stupid".... grow up
It does matter. It's a collection of idiots with terrible misconceptions about their own beliefs, as well as the country they live in. Furthermore, you're using a strawman argument. He did not say religion makes people stupid, (although whether or not it does make you stupid is debatable) he said that people who believe the US was founded under God are stupid, which is very true. The US was not founded under any religion; while separation of chuch and state is not mentioned in the constitution, it is quite clear from the very diverse religions stances that the founding fathers had, that the fact that the country was founded as a republic, that they had always intended for it to be that way.
But the US was founded under god or else it wouldn't say so in the pledge of allegiance and also this country is still predominantly Christian
It wasn't. "One nation under God" was added to the pledge of allegiance in the 1950's (And furthermore, the pledge is -not- constitutional, as mentioned previously). The fact that the majority of the population is Christian does not matter; to assert that it did would simply be an ad populum argument.
I find that it works to not get worked up over religion. What is the point? What are you proving? You cannot prove the existence or non-existence of God, so why try? All you are doing is making people mad and making yourself unhappy.
Religion is not the same as having a stance on theology. Just as you can be a religious atheist via religions like Buddhism, you can be a non-religious theist, usually in the form of a deist or pantheist. While believing in a god or an afterlife is not at all stupid itself, believing that a 2000 year old collection of desert scribblings somehow proves that your -very- specific definition of and omnipotent creator that would probably be far beyond your understanding if it existed, does make you seem like a gigantic idiot. The same goes for trying to force the "morals" taught within your holy book of choice as law (ie: gays should not be allowed to marry, etc.)
Does it really matters if they were Christians or not? Are you seriously going to get mad because it was funded "under god"?

Joined. All the crap about leaving to the new world to escape religious persecution was only a small part of it. Look at the orignal Tea party. They don't teach you why they really left in school.
Yeah, you are doing it, I know your type: Get any bullshit to bash the christian, you only need just one thing, first the pledge of alliegance, and now this
I still want religion to be a ban-word. Everyone flings shit at each other when that 8 letter word is even mentioned.
I told you to do it first so after your history nap get me some proof
You are saying that I slept through history. I didn't. State what is wrong about saying that the U.S. was founded more on enlightenment ideals, than it was on Christianity.

State what is wrong about saying that the U.S. was founded more on enlightenment ideals, than it was on Christianity.
You can say anything you want, but it doesn't matter unless your stayed awake for your lessons. Anybody can pull bullshit out their ass, watch this: 1 + 1 = 1 on a bun Bam, look at that. The above? Completely true. Prove me wrong. Unless you slept through your math classes, too, then you can't. The only class I know you were awake for is English class, you clearly understand the language and your language skills are very good.
If you disagree, how about you present an argument against my point instead of just making assumptions about my knowledge.
How about you prove it first, because I asked you first. Or are you too tired?
Our laws are based upon the basic laws of Christianity.
Like what?
´THIS is what i want to prove: Over-analysing shit won't take you anywhere
Yes and not analyzing anything makes people like you.
Like what?
Also I'm pretty sure "no killing", "no stealing" and "no love making with someone else's wife" were made before Christianity.

´THIS is what i want to prove: Over-analysing shit won't take you anywhere
Yes and not analyzing anything makes people like you.
No, people like YOU: Only critics that cannot apport anything constructive.
Also I'm pretty sure "no killing", "no stealing" and "no love making with someone else's wife" were made before Christianity.
That's what I was thinking, I was going to say "That's because Christian laws were just basic logic" [editline]06:18PM[/editline]
:ssh:
I'm callin' you out boy

Not only are you just saying his claims are false because he "slept through math class", but you refuse to support this claim, and instead say that he should prove it to be false. I could go on, but you probably slept through debate class!!!!!!!!!

Thomas Paine and Montesquieu and John Locke three examples (of which there are many more) of Enlightenment philosophers that had a large influence on the American independence movement, montesquieu. Liberty, Religious Tolerance, Democracy, Republicanism all a large role in the American sphere of the enlightenment The colonists left europe to escape the social issues of Europe, such as absolutism, monarchy in general, and lack of freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, are undeniably Enlightenment ideals, and both play a key function in the constitution. Nowhere in the constitution does it mention christianity, jesus, god, or religion except to exclude it from playing a role in the government which is Secularism. All these were radical ideals of that day, and off-springs of the scientific revolution, the age of reason, the enlightenment. Separation of Church is State, is constitutional. This country was founded on the freedom of religion, but not on Christianity, nor any religion specifically.
