It used to happen so often, someone would throw something at me, making a noise, the teacher would look round and see me holding the object that had just been thrown and have a go at me. Considering that I went to the second highest quality school in the area, and it was pretty damn good, but small, then not really. The only better school was the rich tourist town with the smug fucks. They had laptops. Considering that this is the poorest state in the nation right now, then maybe it is out of the ordinary. The school tried to do the laptop thing the year after I left, but almost ran themselves into the ground with the costs. No one in the area had laptops before us. It was something that the snobby all-white private schools down south had. Our public schools, even the good ones, didn't have such a privilege.

There were never any laptops allowed when I was in High School, but now that I am at a University, they are everywhere. A lower end laptop isn't really that expensive. Especially when you compare it to the $100 books.

I grew up in the highest median income county in the US and we didn't have laptops in school but I know someone from a different state who does, both public schools.
