I remember back when I took Taekwando when we would spar I would fight this dude who was probably 16 and 6 and a half feet tall and had taken street fighting beforehand. I was 11 at that time about 5 and a half feet tall and let's say a thin layer of plastic and cotton doesn't protect against a foot five times in a row.
