If I remember right, the imperial system was easy for the common, low-class workers to learn (as there was no education for the low classes in early America, only the higher ups), it was easy to estimate distance with your feet and the length of your arm, usually in construction, etc.

Month day year sort of makes sense, there's 12 months, than 28-31 days, and then xxxx amount of years. Sort of a least to greatest thing, "March 3rd" is slightly shorter than "The 3rd of March". It also may have been done to spite the British after they wanted to seperate from them, and become their own country.

But Fahrenheit? Who the fuck knows how they figured that shit out.
