Er...he would have died either way. The cop in the picture was killed, that started the stand off. The guy in the house threatened to cut his own throat and was armed and already shooting at police. There was very little chance this was going to end any other way than Rustler dying, either by police or by himself.
To say that he wasn't 'saved' because 4chan posted there were bombs in the house (a potentially true fact- the guy had military explosives training) isn't totally true.
