• What would be the best minimum age to vote?
yeah, it's technically 'voting', but when you do go voting there's either only 1 choice, or it's rigged or both
Usually they are single-party elections, you can vote for who you want from that party - but the party decides the candinates. So rigged - yes. And in the less cosmetically beautiful elections it is "Do you want to Saddam to continue y/n" with a guy having an AK47 looking over your shoulder. And he'd vote for Saddam.
What about high-school dropouts? Apparently they're not smart enough to be able to make an educated decision on who to vote for? Soon you'll need to own land and it'll be like ancient Greece all over again.
The plumbers for my apartment are drop outs and they put the taps in backwards, they can't do their job right what makes them think they have the right answers for the country? I know how horrid it sounds but come the fuck on, I'd rather have some standards for voting rather than none at all.

If there are only "intellectual" people in charge, it could mean that the ones doing the shit jobs without any diplomas could be facing a hard time defending their right to decent wages and rights.
Here we go again with the "you should have to be smart to have a say in who governs your country" Surely it would be better to try and educate the uninformed rather than just lock them out?
I'm not insinuating that we lock all idiots out, informing them would be all the better. I know America's law and government, and I can tell you that our 300 year old law won't hold up forever. Having a very VERY minimal voting requirement would only help the country and its people.
Missing the point.
that is

And also, in that example, the plumbers themselves don't have the answers to this country, but the people they vote to be in charge do have.
that is
This isn't about shit jobs its about informing the people so they know how to learn how to vote properly and, in my opinion, have some real standards for voting instead of just having an age limit?
Media of all sorts inform the people. Why would we need a test?
There was a study out that just showed that large media corporations actually misinformed a lot of people. People that watch fox thinking Obama raised taxes, etc. You can't rely on biased corporations to get good information out to the people.

And who exactly could we even rely on making such tests?
Media of all sorts inform the people. Why would we need a test?
Those who control the media - control the public opinion? Propaganda in the North Korea has been one of the main things that is keeping the country together. Even in the civilized world, media controls the public opinion. (And no, there isn't any jewish nwo behind everything) Owning your own TV network or a newspaper could do odd things to how much votes you will recieve... Also I definitely agree with you 100% on the media controlling public opinion.

green
I don't want any other teenagers to be able to vote but myself. Unfortunately, that wouldn't be practical.
Big news sites and search engines in the "wrong" hands could be as misleading as a propaganda broadcast though.
Well now we just gotta take 'em down now huh? Viva La Revolucion.
21, because there are PLENTY of idiot 18 year olds. By 21, you're probably not going to change this much.
I personally think 21 because the average 18 year old usually doesn't give a shit about politics

bah it should be 14+ but i dun give a fuck i prefer to sit in my couch fap until i cum to some porn i find on tv or just watch sum movie yo, who the fuk prefers to vote instead of staying in ur couch watchin da political shit, and it could happen liek in dat movie about one man and her fukin dougter dat didnt boat and went fuck some time and do some skat porn then the boats of both prawsident are 50% and 50% each other (lol each other means gay porn) so one needed the boat of fucking dad and dougtar. maybe it happens to you one year (of 2 evry decade) just wait for it!!!! yo thats my opinion
18 is a good age because it is when you officially become and adult and do adult things like drink and smoke.
18 is a good age because thats the age where you are past the "I know everything" stage. Usually.
What is disenfranchisement?
:irony:
17+ because most High School Seniors are either 17 or 18 and it's not fair for those who are 17.
They weren't smart enough to graduate high-school, what excuse is there?
What if they dropped out to support their family by getting a job?
There was a thread about that yesterday, and many felt that a "politics exam" would be ridiculing democracy, and turning the country into a totalitarian state where you need to get the "right answers" before you could vote. And the questions would be hard to come up too - would knowing the number of seats in the senate do anything useful in your decision of who you will vote?
What is the difference of non-us government and communism?
What is the difference of non-us government and communism?
huh
The minimum voting age should be 120 because if you can't live that long you don't deserve to vote. :downs:
