Actually, a German comedian named Helge Schneider made me love jazz:
i like jazz quite a lot :> I actually didn't get into it through the canon stuff and the internet, although that helped. My first exposure to jazz was actually through stuff from the 1910's to 30's when I was a little kid, since an outlying area of my dad's taste is earlier jazz from ragtime and dixieland stuff to the big band stuff. He likes quite a bit of stuff from the fifties and sixties too and he's a BIG fan of gypsy jazz stuff from the thirties and forties. Personally i like most eras of jazz. Im kindly inclined to both really skronky free stuff and fairly easy listening swing and so on
I like it very much. Almost 1000 thousand songs (Genre:Jazz) are in my iPod playlist now.
I enjoy Oscar Peterson much, if I had to name an artist. What I like with jazz is how I can enjoy it a lot even though I don't know all the big names. Playing jazz is very giving as well which is why my band focuses a lot on soft jazz and fusion jazz. Making jazz covers of popular songs is also great fun!
Have some pretty well unknown Latin inspired post-bop/jazz:
I'm a huge jazz fan. Only thing I don't care much for is big band and swing. Oh and smooth jazz, that makes me feel ill.
It was never easy to love jazz. I mean... when I first tried to get into it (as a non-musician, mind), it's a bit like "ok, these guys play well now what?". I'm talking when I first heard Kind of Blue which was around 6 years ago and I was kind of dumb anyway.
Honestly I don't understand why Kind of Blue is considered a introductory album. Modal jazz in general should be an endeavor taken after listening to a lot more jazz and studying jazz at least a little bit. Not only do I prefer hard-bop in general, but if I were to introduce someone to jazz I'd start with hard-bop (or go chronologically if they're willing). Besides, all the great jazz guitarists were either hard-bop or bossa with the exception of Christian and Django.
Jazz is a genre where cover versions of vocal songs really do shine:
Yeah. Pretty nice genre.
Everyone likes jazz, although most people are just afraid to admit it. Not sure if this qualifies, but I'm a HUGE jazzy hip-hop fan. If you've ever listened to Nujabes, this is a very similiar style that I believe you would enjoy.
Found these guys yesterday. Has that acid-jazz, funky vibe I love so much. Also this is legitimately perfect
Man, I used to get given actual money to play jazz in a laneway while people ate pasta but that doesn't happen any more. Society has changed man. Anyway, Stan Getz is a motherfucker. Not only does he make those crazy Bach changes sound easy to cut, he does it for like seven choruses without running out of ideas.

I totally impulse purchased an alto sax today. This is actually heaps fun.
A bit more unorthodox, but it's one of those songs that the more I listen, the more I love. [editline]7th September 2013[/editline] Also The Dave Brubeck Quartet anyone? Definitely my hands down favorite: (the audio quality does it no justice)
gypsie jazz best jazz
Traditional New Orleans brass band mixed with funk, amazing.
Is this jazz fusion? Sounds like that to me, but not sure, I'm no jazz expert.
You gotta find the really catchy jazz tunes, that's how you get into jazz I think. Nobody who's a rock fan or whatever starts listening to Blues To Be There by Duke Ellington and enjoys jazz. I think games and films are a good way to be introduced to jazz, I'm sure Fallout played a big part for many people :v:
The Nice got me into Dave Brubeck with their rock version of Blue Rondo a la Turk. Kinda want to get more into jazz now, but not sure what artists I should start from.
i love jazz in all its forms even some smooth jazz occasionally. here are some websites i like: http://www.accujazz.com/ this is the best website ever. it's a massive collection of jazz stations put together by a working jazz musician who's really passionate about the genre. so much shit to find and the links at the bottom are great too. you can access all these stations with the accuradio app if you have a smartphone http://songza.com/discover/genres/jazz/jazz-the-hip-hop-generation-songza/ songza also has some pretty solid jazz stations, though there's only a couple you wouldn't find on accujazz. this one is pretty cool, as well as the ragtime station. http://thejazzsession.com/ great interview podcasts with jazz musicians, some you may have heard of, many you may not. wonderful for discovering new artists

i dig the really soft lounge-type jazz my band director got me into it slowly over the past few years and i took kit lessons with this pretty cool guy last year, where i learned a bit more about it to be honest though, i'm really not informed at all on subgenres or big names except louis armstrong, coltrane, duke ellington, count basie and the likes. i'm not really able to identify certain influences or anything at all but i like it when i hear it. i'm hoping try and study jazz performance when i get into college though
