We can't ever have a good grasp of size, because it is all realitive. In the big scope of things we are all just tiny specks of tiny specks. Everything we see, even something as large as the sun, is all just a tiny atom on the scale of the universe.
In the grand scheme of things, nothing we do really matters. But, it's best not to think about things like that to much.
what is a man?
what is a man?
It's like a women, but with a penis.
It's like a women, but with a penis.
what is a woman then?
This is the most obvious troll ever.
The reason why I'm asking all of this is because of something I saw on TV just now. It is a horse that had just taken a shit. They zoom in very much on the horse shit. There is growing small mushrooms/plants or what ever on the shit. Those plants build up a pressure using water, and launches their seeds 2 metres away with the speed of 100 times faster than sound. Just makes you think about the world you live in.
that's deeeep man.
but seriously there is no such thing as infinity as an actual measurement, it wouldn't make any sense. a measurement is a way to grasp how long or wide something is, or to be specific when that thing stops in space. If the is no stopping point, there is no measurement, so therefore nothing can be infinite.
also, width and length are just relative speculations. they are both the same, like right and left, it depends on how you look at them. but left and right are opposites, right? so how can opposites be the same? well, easy. they can't. right and left, width and length, even time are all just ideas that have no actual value beyond the idea.
look at it this way. a ruler is one foot long, right? so we have this idea of one foot, as relative to the ruler. but what happens when you remove the ruler from the picture? is there something left? is the measurement of 'one foot' living on, incarnate? will someone be able to look at that nothing and say, "oh, that's one foot. just without the one foot." no.
basically, mathematics, measurements, statistics, time are all just ideas. proven laws, yeah. they are what make it possible for us to grasp our world. like a steering wheel.
now i better go back and check this bitch so i don't end up looking like a douchebag.
Size is infinite and finite. Size is everything and nothing. Size is god

Go to sleep
Well if you were to "zoom" into the sky you would go to space, and so on.
Quite simple really
I'm pretty sure this is the video OP was referring to.

A miserable pile of vaginas.

YES!!! YES, THAT IS IT! OH THANK GOD YOU FOUND IT!
Fuck this shit, it's hurting my tiny brain. I think i'll go just watch some porn.
OP needs to get off the Ganja... :v:
See size is broken down into two systems we use today, metric and imperial, the metric system is based off the number 10, the imperial system is based off the length of my dick, which is broken down into inches (the size of your dick being one inch) and added up into miles.

horse shit missles? also how is light not the fastest thing on the planet?

Wtf the third one wasn't a missile it looked like a shell.
How is light not the fastest thing on the planet?- I think they mean the fastest living thing.
horse shit missles? also how is light not the fastest thing on the planet?
Because light is not a "thing"?
sizeof(char) * strlen("size") = 4

what if it's a string
Size (in meters) is purely a comparison of distance of what you measure.
"The metre is the length of the path travelled by light in vacuum during a time interval of 1⁄299 792 458 of a second."
The size of anything is just compared to the above stated length. (or if you describe something as big, you also have some sort of reference in mind)
what if it's a string
Parse it as a double
Size is what you'll feel when you bend over the kitchen counter <3
So that's what I felt.
Hello Facepunch. I have a question that I don't think any of you can answer. Still, it is something that I need to question. So yeah, what is size? And is size infinite? If size is infinite, what are we a part of? And do we even matter, then? How big can something be, and how small can something get? Post what ever you think. I cannot rest before I get an answer.
Also, this might seem as a herpty derp thread at first, but try to think of it. Look at your hand. If you could zoom into your hand, for how long would you be able to zoom in? And what would you see? And try to look outside, and look up to the sky. For how long would you be able to go out there. What would you eventually stumble upon? It's driving me mad.
You're gonna have fun when you stumble with calculus.
This thread is diamonds.
Double D is a size ;)

Previously it was measured like so:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Prototype_Meter
Which is ridiculous. All of our measurements for size and weight are arbitrary but they serve their purpose.
Read the first post only.
Size is a human idea, a way of comparing the size of multiple objects on the same scale.
Size is volume.
Size is a constant scale based off of some arbitrary object (such as the meter). A object can be multiplied by n (n being any real number) to change the scale of the object in retaliation to it's previous size. An objects size is also realitive to the subject (ex. "God that's a big airplane").
God, lay off the weed and go take a math class.
OP can you not.
