For clarification, zbrush is on the left. :< Sculptris isn't that good. Or if it is I'm still bad at the detail.

It's like $600 cheaper than z-brush.
AKA free.
You should've used material 11, it's almost the same as the one in the zbrush pic...

Holy shit, reinstalling that game now.
Well, not now, but in the near future.

Um what?
It's an openGL directional light with a redish yellow colour.
Like this.

Ambient lighting has nothing to do with this, lern2computer-graphics.
Looks like almost the same as the Zbrush version to me...

He obviously didn't actually check what material 11 looked like.
Will this work as a texture?

Huh. I didn't know that worked. Weird.
When I drop a texture into the folder they don't appear in the app :(
Going to give this a try, all these pictures look so awesome.

You have to name them materialx (x being a number larger than 10)
This computer doesn't do materials, they all show up as material1
what if I modify the original?
[img]http://filesmelt.com/dl/material12.png[/img]
Why is it that this doesn't work as a material? it does show up, but it looks shitty...

It doesn't handle complex patterns very well.
By the seems of things it recognizes what shades of colours are lighter/darker and then textures 'pits' or 'budges' in light/dark colours from the texture accordingly. Light parts of the texture being textured on to raised areas, and dark parts of the textures being textured onto pits in the model.

Oh, I see...
Pity...
[editline]03:51PM[/editline]
Interesting thing is that the pattern does show up, but the colours are fucked.
[editline]03:56PM[/editline]
Found the problem: it needs an alpha channel.
still looks like shit now, but it works.

also, you might want to see this thread:

It looks too shiny, is there any way to make it less shiny?
[editline]04:08PM[/editline]
Also, is there any way to remove that black border around the model?
Two colours will probably remove the shinyness.

I kept working on the hand and added an arm, might give it a try to make a fullscale human body.
Personally I like the way the colours work, here is the material I made;

Getting better at detail...:v:

So on tuesday when I get chance to use a laser cutter I'll get something made from Sculptris
Does anyone have anything they'd like me to make, it being a low(ish) poly count and not to detailed?

Here's some good skin ones. And radials are good for some things, but these give it a not cell-shaded/metallic look.

[IMG]http://freenet-homepage.de/tarabaz/skin2.png[/IMG]
I'm having some trouble; when I'm in the program, it only lets me certain bits of the sphere/plain and when it does, it's very rare.
Am I missing something?
Have I fucked up the setting somehow?

They look great, thanks :)
Now I don't know which one to use, I like the cartoony look my skin-material give, but those two make it look realistic.

That's really good. This thing is really simple to use, I like it as much as Z-Brush.
Some of these materials are pretty neat.

That's a whole lot of triangles. I'd turn down the detail if I were you.
