A lot of Scandinavia was still Christianized by force, and the crusaders were Christian. The only parallels I'm drawing is that in both cases, Christians did it. Reparations are usually built only on loose connections like that.
They went forth and Raided and Pillaged and Murdered, being forced to convert, they got off lightly.
Well I'm a descendant of Captain Morgan (true story) but no one seems to give a fuck except me.
You have a little captain in you?
Fuck, I wanna find out who my ancestors are. :saddowns:
All I know is my great grandfather fought in World War 1 as a child soldier.
I could potentially inherit the russian throne.
If thousands of people die of course.
I thought the people overthrew the Czar.
One of my [del]great-uncles[/del] first cousins twice removed according to wikipedia (my great-grandfather's sister's son) is John Phillip Bunyard, known better as the Nob Hill rapist. That doesn't make me a rapist.
Or does it? :ohdear:
No dude, they're the real deal. Their ancestors were really Crusaders.
That's far more impressive then kids in aluminum foil yelling "lightning bolt!"
Do you realize it also could've been a merchant or a laborer. Because crusaders were beaten, but that news it hot from the presses obviously.
go to their house dressed as a dragon

No. I'm disappointed.
My family crest has the battle of Seringapatam on the shield. Yay, I'm related to a crusader too.
:v:
How the hell can I check who I'm related to.

Typically you ask all of your older living relatives, compile a list and record your findings. Then you can try to find more information online. If your relatives came to America through Ellis Island, you can go to www.ellisisland.org and do a search, or you can try one of the numerous genealogy websites.
Yeah well, all my older relatives are either dead or far away, thanks though.
My great great uncle was a rich train robber in the Wild west.
My blood follows a direct line from one of the first knights to travel from Spain into Mexico. There's plenty of Mexican people named Maldonado nowadays, but since I am a part of the direct line, I still have the Spanish light skin instead of brown skin.
Dude me too!
I bet pretty much everyone who has family roots in europe had family members in the crusades.
So I was at my parent's for my Dad's birthday, and our neighbors were with us, when the dad of the family started talking about how they'd been doing some research on their family history. You see, they're originally from Palestine, and they've noticed that their physical traits were never really matching with the olive-colored skin of the other locals. They discovered that their family name traces back to French Crusaders that were in the Holy Land thousands of years ago that settled there.
So, yeah, my neighbors are descendants of knights. How awesome is that?!
Clearly not awesome enough to have a good thread about it.
I am related to Wyatt Earp
I half expected this thread to be about the Knights of Columbus, and for it to erupt in a shitstorm.
Fillipino Basketball team? Hah, my Grandfather was a soldier in the Philippines who had a street named after his family. That street still exists today.
Soldier? Hah, my Grandfather was a rapist in the Philippines who had a sexual position named after his family. That position still exists today.
Yeah this is pretty common. I'm chinese, I'm probably somewhat related to Genghis Khan. My friend at school has ancestors who were Vikings, Celts, Crusaders, French Knights, etc, etc.
it's very common. I'm a direct descendant of Edward I The Longshanks and even Constantine is in my family tree. Supposedly we have rights to some land near Cornwall.
I think that this thread is full of disappointment.
But, somewhat thread-related, I can trace my ancestors back to some high-up position in the town of Farnham. So.. I think I trump the OP's Knight's.
It's really not that spectacular. If you look back that far you're bound to find some interesting figures.
My ancestors apparently helped found what would later become some shit-hole city on the eastern seaboard.
ye neigh-bours be knighteth
