how does one write with a fountain pen.... also why do french people especially still use the fountain pen? (is this one of those, invented in france, owned by france things like mintel?) when the french exchange students came to my school, i swear they would buy like a shitton of ballpoint pens, i swear i saw them stuffing their bags with them, is it just that you cannot buy them?
God, I love these things. I can never go back to a Bic pen again. Unfortunately, though, Pilot doesn't make a yellow G2. MY RAINBOW IS FOREVER INCOMPLETE.
I'm jelly, in other news I should get a 0.7 or 0.5 because the 1.0 version vomits ink
I'm jelly, in other news I should get a 0.7 or 0.5 because the 1.0 version vomits ink
I'd go with the 0.7. I think it also comes in 0.5 and 0.38, but those don't have all of the available colors, plus, I don't like the clear-barrel design. One thing I don't much like about the G2s, though, is that they have just a little bit of tendency to smear, so you have to be somewhat careful.
I can't write for shit so i type everything out on my surface or w/e electronic device.

The clear-barrel design is to tell you that you have this much amount of ink left which is good because I wouldn't want to always take the pen apart back and forth just to check the ink amount. The ink doesn't smear that much if you're using 0.5 or 0.38, the ink line is thin enough to hopefully dry fast enough, depending on the paper, etc. Using my 1.0 G2 in english, smeared like a bitch -_- Went back to my Bic Ultra Round Stic Grip 1.2mm Blue, then I realized I like bigger grips. On the Bic it's so small, G2 is larger and feels better.

We should actually have a mechanical pencil/wooden pencil thread...
Does one of those like medieval pens that just have the metal part at the tip, are they considered fountain pens? Because they don't have that function that fountain pens have, you just dip it in the ink.

With the 0.7, you can still see the ink levels, it's just not 100% transparent. I think that the tint just makes it look nicer. And really, with the G2, it only smears if you wipe what you wrote within the first, say, five seconds. Other than that it's fine. Also, I use all the colors because I obsessively color code my notes in school. People think I'm crazy for how fast I've learned to switch pens. :v:
[t]http://www.ryman.co.uk/Catalogue/Ryman/large/global/images/main/08/0820016002.jpg[/t] this motherfucker right here
I always try and push all four colours through at the same time I use a Zebra pen myself from W H Smith, never knew they were popular

My notes look boring, I should make them more colourful and fabulous~

Ten if you count highlighters.

Before your post I quoted, we were talking about G2s. :v:
I've got a few of those Pentel Energel pens, and I'll be honest, they're easily the best pens I've ever used. Crisp, good tactile feel, and produces a solid black line. Hell they even sometimes make that scratchy pen sound.
If I could find more of these I would easily pick them over the Pilot G2s I usually use. They got pulled from my Staples, though :(
I really need to get more Pilot P700s. Those things kicked ass.
This thread just blew my mind. I've never learned so much about pens in such short time... I like these pens.
The pilot g2 is like one of the most popular, well known pens in the world. Yes it's that amazingly good.
There's just something about the way it flows across paper. I always feel like my handwriting looks 100% better than writing with other types of pens...
There's just something about the way it flows across paper. I always feel like my handwriting looks 100% better than writing with other types of pens...
pilot uses some of the best rollerball ink out where even i have to say that sometimes i like it over some fountain pen inks. What a lot of pen companies i found is that they cheap out and forget that ink plays a huge roll in the comfort of a pen while pilot (who also makes one of the best fountain pen inks) takes ink into considerations in the making of their ballpoint pens. Also thank you for thinking it was informative on pens I'm trying to get more people into the notion of penmanship of fountain pens etc. It's like mechanical keyboards it cost more but its more for the experience rather than the cost
I really like fountain pens. I have this: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/lofazPh.jpg[/img_thumb] Nothing fancy. The entire build is plastic aside from the nib which is metal. I'd love to own one with swively art all over it. Refillable ink. Only downside is their tendency to get ink all over my fingers. I don't use it a lot but whenever I write something by hand I use this.
I got that same exact set from Michaels. I dig it well enough. I just need the time to start learning a new handwriting font.
A challenger appears:
The grip is too stiff for me and I just find it too badly balanced and heavy for me. It's cheap and I like how it writes but it doesn't feel that great for me, and I hate that bumpy grip.
For cheap pens, I use the Uniball Jetstream 101, it's extremely smooth and dries fast, something I need as a left-hander. I highly recommend this pen, it is the best I've ever used in regards to price to performance ratio. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ni41knr.jpg[/t] I use a Lamy Pur for fancy writing, with Waterman black ink. I always wanted a feather pen, I don't remember it too well but when I was little, I think I made one.
I always wanted a feather pen, I don't remember it too well but when I was little, I think I made one.
I remember finding a feather on the ground and trying to get it working with marker (didn't have ink) and paint.
