A challenger appears:
Helllll naw. For about a year now I've used this: Except with a grey cap since I lost the one that came with it. Only reason I still use it is because it wont run out :v:
I always wanted a feather pen, I don't remember it too well but when I was little, I think I made one.
You can get a quill pen for like 20 dollars its much better than you picking one of the floor because they usually coat the tip with plastic of metal so it has a stronger tip and can hold the ink better
I remember these motherfuckers: Owned these all through high school. The rubber at the end actually rubbed out the ink. I tried using friction with my fingers and couldn't rub it out, so it worked pretty well with little to no smudging. Was also smooth as fuck.
All the erasable pens I've used were so cheesy. They sucked to write with and would always flake off.
How long do those ink cartridges last in a fountain pen (with whatever nib is average)?
All the erasable pens I've used were so cheesy. They sucked to write with and would always flake off.
And often the ink was shit
Just made an order off of Penwish. Got these: Really fucking heavy pen mod, about 18-20g, is supposed to be wonderful for power tricks. Pilot Vortex fountain pen. Can't wait to write with this.
How long do those ink cartridges last in a fountain pen (with whatever nib is average)?
It depends on the ink cartridge volume 1.5ml should last around a month 1.8 should last about a bit more and etc but really depends on the pen itself also as some pen dispense more ink regardless of the nib size its just their design

You'll like it though, I still use a buster for evwryday spinning because it's resilient and more compact, it's less likely to crack if someone stands on it.
Would any like to do a section on pen tricks as i have like 0 experience with it. Full credits due to whoever does it
i remember i saw a 200$ pen at officedepot fuck that shit
i remember i saw a 200$ pen at officedepot fuck that shit
Some pens are worth 200 dollars (others worth more or less) for the amount of craftmanship and work it takes to make it its the same ideal as getting a mechanical keyboard its for the experience and i rather have a nice one since i write and take notes a lot much the same with people who type a lot. I own several pens that are worth well over 200 dollars and they are amazingly crafted write amazingly and will last over my lifetime.
The only pens I can use are the ones from the dollar store. Seems like a fountain pen would be wonderful if I could afford the damn thing.
The only pens I can use are the ones from the dollar store. Seems like a fountain pen would be wonderful if I could afford the damn thing.
there are steel nib fountain pens that go from anywhere from 15 -35 dollar also there is this cheap disposible fountain pen named the pilot varsity and they are literally a couple dollars each http://www.amazon.com/Pilot-Varsity-Disposable-Fountain-90015/dp/B00260TWO2/ref=sr_1_4?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1367445109&sr=1-4&keywords=pilot+varsity

My favorite personal mod, right now, is ~14-15g (I don't remember exactly, I just took five seconds to measure it on an electronic balance during science class) and my one heavier mod is probably around 20, about the same as a Buster, but it's held together by tape and falls apart a lot.
I've been getting into nice writing and I want a cheap fountain pen. Is the Lamy Safari the cheapest one worth buying? Are its nibs changeable? [editline]1st May 2013[/editline] And you say 'try before you buy' how and where? I'd be ordering on Amazon.
Thinking of getting one of these for color coded note taking... http://www.jetpens.com/Uni-ball-Style-Fit-Meister-3-Color-Multi-Pen-Body-Component-Mint-Green/pd/8224 Suggestions?

If not since you only really want to try a lamy safari some office stores and bookshops/stationary stores will have them and you can ask them to try it. A lamy Safari is a ok fountain pen (great for its price range) again a pen is up to the beholder. If you do find a pen store or a store that stocks cheap fountain pen take a look at the Pilot Knight and try and and see which one you like out of the 2 as they are both similarly priced low end fountain pens. As for the nibs, technically yes they are but it takes some know how to replace the nib unless it is a full replacement where it comes with the full top end of the pen but they don't usually do this with a low end pen. Sorry if i wasn't absolutely clear if you have problems or questions just ask! Thanks, striker. For reusable pens, is there anything cheaper you'd recommend? Maybe if I don't like the Safari? Gonna go to Staples and maybe OD tomorrow and see if they have anything. They do have a pen display case, I've never looked in it, though. [editline]2nd May 2013[/editline] oh you said Pilot Knight, nvm my bad
After three years in german school I caved in and got me one of those Lamy Safari fountain pens. After that I went through like 5 of them by the end of the year because I kept breaking them on accident
I want a nib with some line variation, what should I be looking for? Can I just mod a nib to be more flat or something? Any opinions on the Parker IM? It's suuuper cheap ($15) and this guy compared them and they were pretty similar and it had more line variation.

To get the best line variation on a fountain pen your would have to get a broad nib and be exceptionally slow and have a good amount of control would probably merit the best result as a broad nib would have visible accents of width, although it still can be done with a medium nib but accents wont be as thick. I haven't personally used a Parker IM so I'm not quite sure how it would be but most pen in that price range write pretty much the same as they are all steel nibs which wont give you as much flexibility as a gold nib for calligraphy. I can post up some pictures of comparisons of a lamy safari medium nib thickness to a ballpoint and also compared to my normal everyday fountain pen.
it takes some effort and some possibly irresponsibility to break fountain pens just keep them in your pockets instead of your bag
No doubt I was irresponsible at first because I was used to the pencils I got the hang of it eventually.
Turns out there's a $15 Lamy, too, in charcoal. I'll probably get that since it's popular, maybe get one of those disposables and try to play around with modding. Not really a fountain pen, I'll probably get that Lamy, too.

Lamy makes solid fountain pens for a cheap price. If you just want to try to see what a fountain pen writes like and would rather like to invest in a solid gold nibbed fountain pen then i would highly recommend getting a pilot varsity and then seeing how you like a fountain pen and if you do i suggest you invest in a Sailor Young Profit which is a thinner and cheaper version of their 1911 M but still holds their amazingly smooth and well crafted gold nib [editline]2nd May 2013[/editline]
I think a pilot parallel is what I want. So many choices! I think I'll just get the Lamy. For $15 I doubt I can go wrong. It's a medium point and I can get a calligraphy (or whatever else) nib from Jetpens for $10 if I choose to. Unless you have a better option for an italic pen? I prefer to buy from Amazon since I have a $10 giftcard there right now. [editline]2nd May 2013[/editline] This is the pen http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00133X1V8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2L77EE7U53NWQ#productDetails Does it come with an ink or something? Do I need a converter? ahhhh
oh man I hate fountain pens so much back in elementary school we were pretty much forced to use them for the first few years, hated them so much, I'm cringing just thinking about trying to write with one again
Now I'm considering the Noodler Flex [editline]2nd May 2013[/editline] Is there a Lamy flex nib somewhere?
I own the charcoal lamy safari and i can say it looks and writes great. can't go wrong
[t]http://i.imgur.com/tYYLY6Q.jpg[/t] Coincidentally I need to buy some pens tomorrow
Glad to see this pen here. They are amazing, truly. Can't go back to standard pens after writing with these gel types. It writes so easily--especially useful for continual writing while not sitting i.e. lab books. Normal pens cramp the hell out of my hand.
