I had something like that. They're cheap, like 50 cents or something, and good.
I drew this with it:

No reference and no pencil sketch, so the great thing with this pen is that I can make nearly invisible lines to sketch, instead of having a blotch of ink drop whenever the pen touches the paper. It lets me create a much more nice drawing without making mistakes.
I like them for sketching because you can get that variation in lightness, but as you can see in your own work to get a nice dark patch you ruin the paper with wrinkling and such.
I favor my dipping pens personally :) I just recently bought my first set of them (used them in art classes, but haven't owned to use at home). They are really nice.
Bought one! Just a cheap shaeffer calligraphy pen for $5 since that's what they had at Staples (other than some shitty looking Cross pens). I was hoping to get a plumix and Metropolitan but they didn't have them. It seems to write pretty well :) Also got a nice little notebook.

I wish i had your handwriting mine is like a 5 year olds attempt at running writing
You can use a fine needle to poke a hole through the air bubble and keep it upright for a day that may work
The bubble is at the bottom of the tube right above the tip of the pen :-\

haha, I love hearing this because my handwriting was really bad literally 2 days ago, before I wanted a fountain pen.
This is when I tried to write well.

Just work at it. It didn't take long at all.

I just kept writing in cursive until eventually it looked decent. I honestly can't print now, my print looks like crap. Plus, cursive just seems easier since everything is more connected; it's less strain on the hand.
I'm having flow problems, any tips? I also think that my nib might be misaligned but im not sure if this pen comes apart, and i dont even know it's names

flow problem? it usually can be fixed by just dipping the pen into a bottle of ink
It's weird because it works upside down more often
It's weird because it works upside down more often
hold it vertically and draw 8 figures till it runs through that may help
From my experience, being left handed makes it near impossible to use fountain pens.

I believe this maybe of use to you

Although i can't vouch for your own experience as I am right handed
there are steel nib fountain pens that go from anywhere from 15 -35 dollar also there is this cheap disposible fountain pen named the pilot varsity and they are literally a couple dollars each

Can't buy from .com
I'm canadian.
[editline]4th May 2013[/editline]
everyone always links me to the American websites that block shipping to canada....
I think I wasn't holding it flat enough, seems fine now.
I just randomly got a Penac CCH-3 Gel 0.5 blue.
It's so smooth oh my god. I should use gel pens more often.

Sorry i don't intend to link american sites (I'm not even american) but it seems to be the majority in this forum and it more to just give you a picture of the product you can find that pen in most stationary stores to my belief
Cheapass Bic Cristal and hurried writing, go.

(I just noticed that my tendency to drag my hand over what I've written is so bad that you can even see a little bit of smudging even there.)

It's okay, I'm not planning on getting any fancy pens anyways, can't afford to drop $200 on a god damn PEN.
The only pen store here that sells fountain pens pretty much doubles the price so I practically have to wait two years to save up for one :v:

Place a piece of paper under your writing hand to stop the smudging
Why did I never think of that? Cheers; I'll give it a go when I next need to write something of any length.
I never realized how bad my handwriting was until I had to copy a homework assignment and email it to my teacher... :/
Granted, being math makes it infinitely worse, but still. I do have to say, that I absolutely love the Zebra pen, as someone mentioned on page one. I've had a single one that has lasted me through the last two semesters, and it still writes.

My writing is always been bad but it did get better with better feeling pens. Below was with that Bic RoundStic Grip I was talking about earlier.

how do you write at a 90 degree angle, isn't that difficult?
Actually... that's about the angle I write at... :( Pretty much everyone around me can read my notes in class, being as all of my classes I sit against the left-most wall and write with the top of my paper almost perpendicular to it... :/
Wow why is the photo landscape...
Anyways I'm going to some places to check out some pens. I'm eyeing on a pilot g2 0.5mm fine black and maybe look for a uniball jetstream 101, heard they were good. How are they?
I haven't bought a pen for so many years now
I've always liked Pilot G2 and they have a nice higher quality body for them now

Very cool. You should get a fountain pen though, you'd look pretty awesome.
I haven't bought a pen for so many years now
I have so much at home, I'll never use them and I'm still gonna try to buy more today :v:
Well they are all those cheaper ballpoint ones anyways.
Same. I write pretty much exclusively in pen, so I probably have thirty pens scattered across my house as well as two or three in my car. Which, also, surprisingly, drives my teachers insane, as a Math major... :/
