I mostly use a parker pen. my other favorite is the pentel energel pen, which I often doodle with.
here are somewhat expensive pens that we sell where I work:

So I went to Staples, looked for some Pilot G2's, not in stock, the refills aren't even in stock. Then I looked for Uniball Jetstream 101s. Nope, only the original Jetstream and the RT version (retractable). So I looked for Pilot HiTecPoint V5s, the blue colour is not in stock, wow. Makes sense because Staples makes most of it's money during back to school sales so it's a ghost town in there and it would be a waste of time to get more if no one would buy them right now. Decided to get the V7 blue. Yay.

The only parker pen I am remotely interested in is the Parket Sonnet I never really dived into parker pens a lot and just don't feel that they can match to their competition
I want a fine-med point flex pen so bad.

Have a Parker IM ballpoint for my primary pen right now, been using it for 3 years. Very reliable/rugged, fairly smooth writing.

have you ever considered a brush pen?

I was taught how to use a brush in chinese calligraphy for about 2-3 years and its not as weird as people may think it is and the brush if you don't break it is quite hard

I have a brush disposable pen / marker it's a bit thick though, I'm just whining because I want everything. I want a Namiki Falcon :(

guys, my new pilot hitecpoint v7 grip has uneven lines, maybe it was how I was writing or something but it looks like it loops. Can it actually do a straight, even line? yes but not in the photo above.

A namiki falcon is an amazing pen but it does go for around 160 dollar which maybe a bit expensive for some people

Could be a defect in the ball something affecting the ball, either that or the ink is clumping which doesn't really happen in pilot pens

I would expect ink clumping in the V5 since the point s 0.5mm which is smaller and no problems with the V7. Argg.
I also find the V7 Grip to be too "nice" to use. Fuck, I might as well get the normal, non-grip V5 now.
Dunno if this has been posted already, but here's a video of writing with a fountain pen.

If anyone wants a fountain pen they should get a Pilot Metropolitan imo, it looks great and comes with a converter. It also works with all other Pilot pen nibs, so if you want a italic nib you could get a Plumix and put it on there (I plan on doing this)
[editline]6th May 2013[/editline]
Also took some sandpaper to my nib and it works 100x better now. Haven't had any flow problems since.

And for 18 dollar you can't really do any better also if you want a italic nib you can also get a custom job from nibs.com as they can customize a nib to make it suit your need (e.g. more flex, slanted etc)
Also Shadaez i have possibly a dream pen for you maybe in the future you may want to get
http://www.engeika.com/product/557
It's apparently has the same kind of build as the Falcon but has this gold bar like the Sailor Emperor and has 2 type writing mode.
If you are considering a falcon have a look at a Sailor Naginta Togi or even a Naginta Concord
Help me i have an addiction with japanese fountain pen :C
My plumix arrived. Oh my god it's so much better than that shitty sheaffer I got for $5.

You take that back :C
It's not that bad, I prefer more of a bullet shape.
Has anyone ever made their own pen?
I recently made a ballpoint pen in shop class. I took a 1x1x8 in. piece of Corian (90's countertop material), drilled a .25" diameter hole in the center, and put it on a CNC lathe. Once I wrote the program and had it cut, I buffed it, and took brass pen pieces and assembled it. The whole process took place over 2 days (could have knocked it out sooner, but others were running their pieces.)
Honestly, it was really rewarding! It works nicely, and feels very smooth and is a pleasure to write with. If you have access to a shop, I suggest you try to make one. Hobby stores probably sell pen kits, and Corian isn't a super duper expensive material in the quantities this project requires. Even if you don't have access to a lathe to cut the corian, you could always whittle it out of wood, assuming you're good enough.
I get a strange satisfaction by watching people write perfectly like this.

a few years ago my step dad actually had a nice CNC machine, but I never took advantage of that, and it's sold now
Man I suck at using good opportunities
So; I have a question. Being as I'm going to have atleast two classes where we're going to be doing more writing and turning in assignments for my Fall semester, I'd like to get a pen or two that are nicer than my current sets I use (mostly Zebras and Pilot G2s). I was thinking of getting a relatively decent, but still affordable, fountain pen. Would this be practical? I'd also be using it for work, so speedily writing isn't a problem, typically.

I'm going to suggest a Pilot Metropolitan, I have the Plumix and it's really great. You might want to pick up a bottle of Quink, too.

ASMR?
What would be good fountain pens under 30$ hopefully to write italic/copperplate?
Or are there nibs for the safari?

for actual copperplate you want a copperplate dip pen, but if you just want a nice italic Lamy does have italic nibs, but I wasn't a fan of its looks. I wanted an italic, too, and I went with a Pilot Plumix and plan on getting a Pilot Metropolitan and putting the Plumix's nib in it. I think the Plumix's italic nib is pretty narrow compared to the options you have with Lamy's pens.

I'm not an expert, I was just looking for basically the same thing as you.

I would say a pilot knight which is approx 35 dollar if cheaper then Lamy Safari which is like 15 ~20 dollar

I own a Namiki Falcon medium fountain pen, and need to learn how to write fancy/more legibly. Can anyone recommend any guides?

First note amazing choice of a pen, to write better really is just practice running writing is just a natural flow from letters to letter just start to write in running writing normally and you will soon get the hang of it. If you mean professional calligraphy i suggest getting a book on it and some tracing paper and lined paper and practice. A Namiki falcon is perfect for both situations
Ordered a cheap pen to try this out. Seemed to be pretty well liked by the reviews.
my uncle let me use his pen to take some notes, Zebra F301. it's a pretty dang smooth pen.
also here's a weird question that i've always wondered: can you really use blood as ink for a fountain pen?
Considering the high amount of iron, as well as how much blood of various animals stain; I'd say more than likely. I don't know if the platelettes would clog in the reserve or not, though.

They would unless you added some kind of anticoagulant, and something to make it less thick so it writes smother.
