I rely on DigitalRevTV because that's about how I'd review things for myself
did you watch the video
Yes, a month ago or so (I keep forgetting sarcasm doesn't make it over the internet as well as in real life)
bleeding sarcasm is an art
can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm trying to find a battery grip online for my 550d but a lot of sellers and after market grips get mixed reviews. I just want a decent grip for a good price, any help would be much appreciated
Meike battery grip all the way, it's never failed me and I've had it for a year now. Also the 2 Chinese batteries it comes with aren't half bad either.
Flash recommendations? Should I stick with canon? or are there any brands that I can get a nice cheap one for?
Flash recommendations? Should I stick with canon? or are there any brands that I can get a nice cheap one for?
I would definitely recommend the 430EX II but it costs more than 200$ which is your budget I presume ...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nissin-Speedlite-Wireless-Original-Personal/dp/B0044779DG Can't reccomend this enough, had one for about 2 years, never had a single problem, half the price of a 430EX II and its actually more powerful

Would be interested in this model myself.

Me and my girlfriend are doing our first proper photoshoot soon, we have a hall booked and would like some help. Our Equipment: 3x6m white muslin background with support, two 33' white umbrellas with adjustable stands, two 125w e27 bulbs with adjustable stands (equivalent of 625w), both of our cameras, a speedlight flash for on camera, and probably a backup dual headed spotlight. We also have model release forms, order forms and a mac to show them previews of the pictures. Anything else we will need? We are letting all types in, groups, solo, pets, anyone really.
He's extremely sensationalist and does everything he can to get website traffic = $$$. Everytime he reviews a new camera it becomes the "the best camera in the world". His website can be pretty informational though, some good stuff on there if you go deep.
Wasn't the first 2 from the D3p article?
The only thing I could criticize here is that the quantity will influence the quality but I don't know what you are going for and I have no experience with this stuff.
Well we have given people a 40 minute slot, with 10-15 minutes of it being consulting and reviewing shots they like/want to order. I think that is ample time, we have just labelled it a 'Taster Session', so you know they can get a quick family portrait or 2 done, maybe a couple modelling headshots. Thing I am most worried about is the lighting, do you think 2 umbrellas will be enough?
Yeah, two point lighting is usually good, just depends where you place them.
Got any pictures of it in use? Would be interested in this model myself.
Been using it for work in clubs 2-3 nights a week at around 200 photos per night for around 6 months now, I can assure you it works haha but here's one of my fav shots with it: duballornothing_120811_3 by Laurence Howe, on Flickr
My cupboard is getting a bit full (and over exposed) So I'm selling a few things, all prices are open to a fair negotiation. (its mainly M42 lenses,2 cameras, and thats about it really) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkR5ceMRQq8vdDN4c2xmTlRiN1UwWkZYVXhSSWgwcFE#gid=0 and if you want something pm me on here.
I'd like to use film again, and I was wondering what the best choice for an EF mount compatible SLR is? I had a EOS-1N that I won with the 20-35mm 2.8L but it gave me the dreaded BC error. Bummer because I really wanted to use it. (Thankfully the seller took it back.)
Well, our very own communistcat has a Canon EOS 500 for sale
EOS 650 is good
I've been working a lot these past few days, as well at a photography expo, and they've got a special on a Nikon D7000, hopefully I will make the jump from my D3000 to it this weekend!
Nice. You'll really enjoy the switch. Having access to a second control dial is incredibly useful. On top of that, it means you'll now have access to more lenses, due to the inbuilt focus motor.
I need to pick up an FD ==> EF adapter, does anyone have any recommendations?

I bought it, gets extremely soft at anything below f/2.8, the crop it adds is terrible, and it's pretty damn expensive.
I'd advise just not getting one. The nex system is the best for using FD lenses.

Isn't particularly soft, but the colours are all washed out until you go f/5.6 and higher. It also crops the frame (and aperture setting!) by 1.4. Utterly unusable.

Holding thumbs that I get the camera, though. I was playing around with the D600 and D4 as well this week, I also got to play around with the Hasselblad H4D as well. Such an awesome piece of equipment!
