I'm not looking for picture views, I primarily use my T3i for YouTube work.

mec?
[editline]December 14th 2012[/editline]
Oh, this is REI not MEC.
Just got a Clik Elite chest pack that was on clearance. Merry Christmas to myself :) Now I can shoot my friends while we're out mountain biking waaaay easier.
Only problem is it's a telephoto chest pack and I'll be using a 50mm lens w/ my 7D so it's hueg. Maybe my next post should be a telephoto lens.
fuck yeah, getting a mamiya c330, supposed to be arriving tomorrow! been wanting a mamiya c series tlr for ages now.
7D arrived, along with my Sigma AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG APO macro, completely new with lens hood. My 32gb 60mb/s trancend CF card arrived too. Also got a nikon to canon body converter for £14 on Amazon so I can use my Nikon 18-55

What converter did you get? I have been looking for a decent one because I have tons of Nikon glass.
[QUOTE=The golden;38893861]How much did you pay for that sucker?[/QUOTE]
£250, with the 80mm f/2.8 (the newer one)
it's in pretty good condition and comes with a 6 month guarantee as well, so all in all not too bad
[editline]19th December 2012[/editline]
it's a c330s, to be more specific

More people with a Mamiya TLR! Woo!
Hey guys (and/or gals), I dont post here since I'm not a photographer by any means. However, I am looking for some advice when buying cameras - possibly recommending me one?
I am in need of a camera for simple use. This summer I'll be traveling across the US and I would really like to use a camera that isnt with a phone to preserve space and battery.
What brands are accepted as "good" and "poor"? Any-one camera considered the go-to for people?
Budget maximum is $200
any and all input would be good
get a nice canon pint and shoot, and then put the custom firmware on it if you're feeling adventurous.
Or you could get a nice old DSLR. I dunno about prices in the USA but here you can get one for about £120 or $200 ish (mpb photographic, look around on Ebay too)
You can also get very nice film slrs for under $200 and probably some nice lenses too, but then you have to use film and get it developed and printed, if you're willing to go that route you'll get the nicest looking pictures out of all and save some money too.
if you are just using it for travel us, a panasonic lx-7 or olympus xz-1 are both good travel cameras. but with a budget of $200 your options are going to be limited.

This, so bad.
bought this rad lens because it had a super pro hood and I'm a pro so I mean come on just put 2 n too together

(Tokina 11-16 f/2.8)
or maybe because I'm doing interior arch photo work more and more because of that whole 'job' thing, I dunno
really sharp so far, though I definitely need some time to test and get a feel for it. Was crunched for immediacy on taking photos of a building that was literally across the street from the camera store, had to be done last night. Came down to this or the tamron 10-24 3.5-4.5, but available light and potential sharpness at ideal apertures were to be no-brainers for me. did some quick googling and I was right, so I dropped the couple extra bucks on it.
yaay

I have one too, it's a really good lens. The whole clutch system for the AF/MF is alright, but it's a little bit uneven at times. I really love this lens so much, the max aperture is a real big help, too.
And it looks pro as fuck
Yeah I've been looking at wide angles, if only I had the kind of money for the new Sony 10-18 f4 OSS lens. It's supposed to be incredible, but $850 is a bunch of money ;(
fuck money
Though I'm sure new lenses wouldn't improve my photography at all, I've got general lenses for what I do all the time, just missing a good zoom and wide angle, which limits doing some photo jobs. But I suppose I should wait until the time comes where I would need them, then just buy them.
I couldn't find the actual graph to fit the point of how much you'll need a lens vs how much it'll cost you, so I just whipped this up to explain it because it's fun

Just snapped up a Pentax 67 55mm f/4 for $240, they usually run for about $300 (the 67 version, newer and better optics than the 6x7 version) from what I've seen so I'm very pleased. Works out at about 28mm on 35mm.

or rent them. depends on how often you'll ultimately need them, but never underestimate the value of having those special-purpose lenses when you most want them. i've amping up my loadout pretty intensely, lately. i figure it's good to explore what you can while you can, it could fuel some cool stuff later down the line. i'm gonna be getting my 10-20mm pretty soon, i'm psyched as fuck to finally explore some wide-angle type shit. but yeah, it's an investment like any other, so the choice is yours.
I thought about doing stage photography and architecture stuff since it involves little interaction with subjects, but the former requires a wide angle zoom and typically an advanced flash setup, so big expenses there for that. And stage requires a fast zoom, which my 70-210 3.5-4.5 is alright but image quality is mush on the short end. So I would want a 50-150 f2.8, which are very pricey.
I figure both of these would be hard startup and take awhile to pay off, and I'm slow at finding work. I'll just stick to stuff my current lenses can do
Juz bought a Pelican 1650 yeeeuh

wow that looks like quite the case. does it float out of the box or is that extra
i know some of you guys shoot on medium format mamiya's, this guy is letting go of a lot of lenses for what looks to be some fair prices

it's worth checking out if you have one of those cameras
so the mamiya arrived in the mail

How new/old is that 80mm? Is it the really late model or the in between? I thought I had a rather newer one, but that looks much different from what I've got.
I think mine is the newest one, black S model (has blue dot, is multicoated)
I'm torn between the 40mm f2.8 and the 35mm f2. Really looking for a good overall general purpose lens, but I'm leaning towards the 40mm since it's small and not too pricey. What do you guys think?
