Perhaps a wide angle? With a crop it's pretty hard to go wide.
As far as I know the sigma 8-16mm is the widest lens you can get for any system. When shooting on an FF and with the hood removed it has wider coverage than a 12mm lens on FF. but realistically 10mm (16mm on canon crop) is reserved for landscape, interiors its seen as amateurish because it is too exaggerated. 18mm on FF is considered the widest you should realistically go for that kind of stuff.
anybody here own a tokina 11-16mm?
I know Dai does, another member does as well.
I should be receiving my 70-200mm F4 L lens nearing mid week, I am going to let you guys choose the first shot this magnificent lens will ever produce.
So give me some things you might like to see :)
So I just helped some family move the other day, and while they were going through some stuff they found an old box camera. Since I'd actually use the thing, they let me have it.
It's an old Macy's box camera, and my god these things are simple. I'm trying to find out more about it, like it's shutter speed and such so I can figure out how much film will get exposed, so I can develop it right. This is gonna be fun!

Doggy Portrait :D
Friend of me got a new canon and is selling his old nikon D7000, was just about to get the D3200... the D7000 comes with the 18-200mm Lens, still not sure what I should do, he is asking 400 for it so it's cheaper than the D3200' but still...
A little help please?
At the moment I only have the D3000 , and I love it to be honest..
(eur btw)
A slight off topic. Why the heck is he selling the D7000 to get the D3200? It sounds like a downgrade to me.

I think Siemz was going to buy the D3200, but he has the alternative to buy his friends D7000 instead.
D7000 is great, what is the shuttle count on the camera?

the d7000 is quite a more featured camera than the d3200, and getting an 18-200 is a huge bonus as it's quite a decent lens really.
that's like an insanely good deal don't pass it up
How much do you think I could sell my d3100 for? Its in damn fine condition. Now that I look up the prices of some of the better nikon cameras, and the job I have, I think it might be smart to upgrade.
Like $300 depending on condition.

I would be willing to let my 18-55 kit lens go with it, if that would help price. That only leaves me with my one 35mm lens left, but life is tough. Unfortunately, I JUST tossed the box, about last week.

I'd figure out what you're wanting from an upgrade before-hand as image quality wise, there isn't going to be a very noticeable different going from say a D3100 to a D7000, you're really just looking at speed and build quality unless you're getting into full frame, and for some speed and build quality isn't very important.
I'd first invest in some good glass, FX compatible so you're ready for full frame should the time come.

Honestly, the fact that it has no microphone port is one of my biggest problems with it.
Got the D7000 for 350 and a subway, couldn't be happier thanks for the advice! it will be mine tomorrow !!
cleaned up my collection

My 70-200mm F4 L came today, what a fine ass piece of glass.
Will update you guys later with my first proper photo from this sexy lens!
okay, so i own a sony a230 and i'm looking to upgrade.
so far i've been looking at the sony a65, but i want some different opinions before shelling out that much money on a camera.
what should i get?
how much for 50mm 1.4, and what model?
SMC-PENTAX-A 1:1.4 50mm
Not sure about the price I am going to try and sell the entire kit together as is. But if I end up with it still I'll be sure to hook you up for super cheap my friend.

When I was looking at Sony bodies I just went with the a77 because the features for the price kept being worth it. It's not much more than the a65 but is weather sealed, the screen has another tilt point (huge difference), micro adjusting for 20 lenses (I use Minolta lenses so its nice, especially considering it is 24mp), top LCD, more controls, improved AF points, and instant preview. For the price difference not being a huge amount I say that all of that is well worth it.
I know this year they are releasing an a58 which means the a57 will decrease in price, not sure about a new a65. Unless the EVF is that important (generally I use the LCD since that's how I learned) then the a57 is a better purchase than the a65 as the sensor is less difficult on your lenses. And if you went that option, I would suggest waiting until the a58 comes out to see what it's like, and if its not much better the price of the a57 will drop at least $100

it'll take me some time to save up for the a65 anyways, as i'm planning on buying a computer, so hopefully the a58 will be out by then. thanks for the input.
Said I'd give you some of the 70-200mm F4 L pictures I got, so here they are. Nothing amazing, but it was a horrible overcast day so made the most of it.

Men of Rohan, I just bought a used Canon 30D and I'm looking for cheap lens, obvious options are the standard 18-55mm and the 50mm, but I'm having a difficult time choosing between them. Which one would you recommend?

How much would you be asking? I'm semi interested, as I don't yet have a DSLR and have been looking for a Pentax to use my old lenses... But I don't 100% need it.

18-55 to start off, 50mm when you feel you need the fast aperture. 50mm is too tight on a 30D for everyday use
So, bought a used NEX-5 (14mp one)+ 18-55mm on ebay. Can't wait to try it out. It's mostly for the family, as in a replacement for my moms compact camera but I will be able to take it with me whenever I feel like I might want to take some photos but don't feel like packing my DSLR.
